we'll see.
honestly, we'll just have to wait and see how it plays to really gauge how well it, 'pushes the limit.'

Except for that pesky fact that Japan does not dictate solely the success of a console OR a game... for that you need North America and the rest of the world, where considering number of consoles already owned, I'd wager the xbox version sells more copies. Hell their games market is doing pretty badly these days. You'd be surprised how many 360 owners are fans of final fantasy. And honestly, if MGS4 didn't turn out to be the system mover everyone predicted it would be, I don't think Final Fantasy is going to be that new hero.Jumplion said:This statement is 3 months old, albiet not as old as I thought it would be last time I saw it.HyenaThePirate said:This statement was only made and targeted at PS3 owners and fans to get them excited and produce maximum sales on that console.
And really, there are several things about this that everyone knows anyway;
1. Everyone knows that "OVER 9000Over 100%!" is just hype talk.
2. The PS3 version of FFXIII is going to sell better than the 360 version regardless of which has "100%" not to mention move PS3s rather than 360s.
-----a. This is mainly due to the fact that most people like the "better" version even if it is just slightly shinier windows or subtitles in english with original Japanese voiceacting.
3. This is just PR talk.
Really, does anyone believe anybody who says "We're using 100% of the powah!" when talking about the PS3? MGS4 supposedly did that, and Killzone 2 probably did something similar to it, you can only push upwards with hardware.
Well MGS4 kept saying it was 'Tactical Espionage Action' but its more of the action part overall, you have that stupid infinate ammo tranqulizer gun so there really isn't any stealthy way to do things, plus as Yahtzee said the controls are suited more towards a stealth game and when action takes over its like being on a knife edge, the story is crap and all likeable characters had taken a nose dive to hatesville and I soon gave up on the game when Emo pussy Raiden came into it... plus tell me why Solid Snake, a super-spy/soilder need a second or 2 to ready his gun? Sam Fisher never has that trouble and hes in his early 50s (round about).Kailias said:Sarukin said:Please, Sony have been hopelessly trying to get some groundbreaking games on it and after the completely disappointing Killzone 2, LAIR and MGS4 its only got this to redeem itself, and I am ready to see it flop.
plus why are people going on about the graphics? i've seen equal graphics on Dead or Alive 4, and if they are super graphics like they say then its going to lag like no one buisness.
Lair was awful yes, I haven't played Killzone, but MGS4? I didn't think it was a let down. It wasn't perfect of course but could you tell me why it wasn't worth playing to you?
I never liked Final Fantasy but I suppose this would be a good place to start. I just hope it proves itself to be on par with Disgaea.
Do you mean by comparing the game on two systems?buckythefly said:I'm really hoping to see the PS3's fabled powerhouse graphics. Maybe this'll settle the graphics war for a while. Because PS3 fans have nothing to substantiate their claims of better graphics. and I'm just sick of listening to it.
I actually did mean that the PS3 version would sell more copies overall, no where did I say that Japan would dictate the winner.HyenaThePirate said:Except for that pesky fact that Japan does not dictate solely the success of a console OR a game... for that you need North America and the rest of the world, where considering number of consoles already owned, I'd wager the xbox version sells more copies. That said, we'll have to see what the quality is before making statements about whether people will buy it on the ps3 instead because of a huge leap in graphics... which up till now has been negligible, or worse, has actually proven to be in the xbox's favor on many multiplatform games.
In other words, Square knows what it's doing. It's publishing the game on both platforms for a reason... because no matter how many millions it sells on the ps3 or the 360, those combined millions equal success to them and money in the bank.
I respectfully disagree.Jumplion said:I actually did mean that the PS3 version would sell more copies overall, no where did I say that Japan would dictate the winner.HyenaThePirate said:Except for that pesky fact that Japan does not dictate solely the success of a console OR a game... for that you need North America and the rest of the world, where considering number of consoles already owned, I'd wager the xbox version sells more copies. Really, you'd be surprised how many 360 owners are going to buy a PS3 for FFXIII regardless if it's on their console, I've seen dozens of comments on dozens of sites saying similar things. The FF series is so widely known to be on a Playstation platform (regardless on if it's been on other platforms) that people tend to associate it with Playstation even if other games in the franchise have hit other consoles. That's where the "superior" product comes in, even if it's just having the original Japanese voices with English subtitles (which the 360 version had to have cut) people are going to want that version.
And to my knowledge, MGS4 did move systems, though how much people expected it to move compared to how much it did is debatable.
EDIT: While, yes, this is only Japan, I feel that this recently necroed thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.109234] states my point somewhat nicely.
Heh, you would be surprised.HyenaThePirate said:Honestly, people who have a 360, why would they run out and buy a PS3 NOW, for ONE title?
Then again, if the game already exists on your platform, why would you buy another platform just for it? Unless of course it's a case like mine, where the biggest reason I'd want a PS3 at the moment is this. [http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-blazblue-calamity/52354] It's on the 360, yeah, but nobody knows when (or if) they're going to release it here in Europe.Jumplion said:Heh, you would be surprised.HyenaThePirate said:Honestly, people who have a 360, why would they run out and buy a PS3 NOW, for ONE title?
Seriously, you would be surprised.

And since the publishers decided they don't want my money (i.e. they noticed how releasing Ghostbusters region-free brought them extra money and decided they couldn't stand that so they region-locked it), the only way I'm probably going to get to own that game this year is to get a PS3. There are friends, of course, and I have a HRAP for that purpose but I know I'll be left behind till I have my own copy of the game. Bah.
Forget the red ring of death, we'll be suffering the flames of microsoft!Ranooth said:Blimey every 360 running this is going to combust!
