Relax, not like a put a burning cross outside your home.

I just don't understand why people would want to go to a Renaissance Fair, I just don't get how a human being could possibly enjoy them.

There's a "saving throw" joke in here somewhere...but I'm not witty enough to think of one.
I think she must have rolled a 1 on a D-20 sometime at the party.
If she had made her D 6 throw she could have dodged the sword.

Other then it being cruel, I blame it on People who are Stupid and have nothing better to do.

Its less of a Renascence era themed fair as it is a fantasy fair, its almost like tolkiens backyard. Why go to the zoo, to see animals, go to the renascence fair to wander around in fantasy.

So, what would you boys and girls like to pin this on?
I think "The ingrained insanity that lurks in every human being." just about covers it. Humans can be such weird critters, and we're all susceptible to it in one way or another.

Jup, nothing to see here folks. Just another crazed human. Let the law handle it. Awful stuff like this doesn't really deserve much attention.
Still the coolest character after the Imp, even though he's a minor one. I keep my fingers crossed that he'll make an epic return and continues to tutor Arya when he finds her. Spoil nothing!
Found her, turned her into a boy, took her to the fortress in the mountains at the end of season one and probably will train her in season 2 - I haven't read the books, so I don't know.

How far north do you live that Midlevel washington state is the south?

I'm sure this will go a long way towards convincing people that Ren Faire folks don't take it just a little too far.

I guess he was wearing his +9 helm of stupidity, which unfortunately grants a negative effect of -20 parenting.

As a fat dude with cliche facial hair, I must speak out of this blatant attempt to stereotype myself and others like me. The mainstream videogame media is always so quick to point blame.

This reminds me of when Princess Peach was abducted by Bowzer. The videogame media was quick to place blame on the "fat dude with cliche facial hair" friend of Mario, while completely ignoring the skinnier Luigi's culpability.

I can only sincerely ask that, when a fat dude with facial hair does something stupid again in the future, the mainstream video game media realize that the true culprit is obviously Grand Theft Auto and has nothing to do with facial hair, waist size, or choice of anachronistic clothing.
OH, so you don't like games, huh? Yeah, not the site for you then buddy. The culprit here was a guy with cliche' facial hairs stupidity, nothing more. No one was picking blame or fun at guys who are heavy, it just so happens a heavy set guy with cliche' facial hair failed to parent his child well, and failed to correctly punish her without beating her.

Bit miss leading heading, very attention seeking of you. He had already beaten her with a stick and sat on her before the sword fight began. He was jailed for beating a girl, not for forcing her to fight was a fake sword.

Why would ren folk look bad in people eyes? They're the opposite of people who dance in virutal skull fragments. Just men who have found the one proper way to be immature.

Just an answer

I'm not the only one that went there then...:)

Alas, I don't think this guy is much of a Syrio-like figure and the description in the article doesn't make this sound like a swordfight. I was ready to jump in and say how ridiculous how all this is that the guy was getting jailed for this but yeh, it sounds like beardy-man here is getting his just desserts.

At least it was only nonlethal damage. She couldn't have gone below 0 HP.

*bangs head off desk*

Godamn Ren Fairs... I'm involved in historical reenacting that deals with, you know, the reality of the past, not the fantasy. I can safely say his faux stick and faux armour and crappy, crappy gear would be wonderful to practice our steel swords, spear heads and axes on.
They might be blunt, but they'd be more than capable of putting him in as much pain as that poor girl.

I get it, girl defied her parents.
You might love the past, but utilising even the harshest of medieval punishments for infractions wouldn't lead to something that stupid.

EDIT:

Just remembered the ducking stool. Marginally less unpleasant that what happened her.

This is why we need to teach kids to swordfight! It would solve so many problems like this. I think I blame this on video games, medeivel games are clearly marketed to fat douchebag redneck parents.
