Pfft. I'm sorry, you can't have anyone like Glenn Beck or his ilk and have any claim whatsoever to being fair or balanced. And you can't just go ahead and make things up and then claim that it's journalism.

Recent example: claiming Obama rented out the Taj Mahal for the White House press corps, all on taxpayer money. Also claiming that there are 34-36 warships en route to India for the trip. All just said like it's completely true with zero evidence whatsoever. And then they proceed to blast 'im for daring to do those things.

And that's just one of many. I totally understand that other networks are biased as well, but none go quite as far as Fox does when it comes to pulling blatant lies out of their asses and then pretending that they're real.

Fox is just one of those things too hate. If you disagree about hating it, you're a stupid filthy, worthless redneck who deserves nothing more than to be shot with every single one of your 80 guns. Because you're just like that.

All news is bias, FOX is just the one that it's acceptable to rant about.

Here lets leave it at this

Fox = MSNBC = BBC

each one will be biased in there own way, its up to you to get the facts for yourself and interpret them as you see fit.
This.

My thing is that if I want to get all sides of a story, I'll go to several different places. When I need the conservative side, I'll go to Fox and Drudge. When I need the liberal side, I'll go to MSNBC or the Daily Show. If I want to get an objective viewpoint, I'll go to the News Hour. Before you ask: yes, it is important to get all of those different viewpoints because going to one place and saying that you know the whole picture leads to people bringing up a side that you didn't think of and you looking like an idiot. That's what the problem is with many of these places, they expect you to just watch their side of any story then hate anything that disagrees.

And people wonder why our current time is so politicized.

Pfft.

No. Not at all. Seriously, it's terribly biased. Just watch any news repost involving video games and you'll see it. Anything else too, but the video game ones are some of the most obvious.

Yes, all news papers/stations/sites have biases, but Fox news blatantly lies and deceives.

Best solution to get unbiased news? Get your news from a lot of sources. That's why I trust France24, Russia Today, BBC, CNN, Denver Post, Al Jazeera English, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and occasionally Deutche Welle and Euro News.

Fox, fair and rational? the only time you'd see this 3 words together would be if there's "is not" somewhere in the middle.

Fox News has never been "Fair and Balanced" or whatever they claim. Never watch Fox News, not if you're looking for actual news.

It's yellow journalism, it gets its ratings from sensationalism. Of course it's not gonna care about accuracy, they just care about ratings. There's plenty of examples of yellow journalism out there. Fox isn't alone.

Moreso than a lot of people get it credit for, but still very right-wing. But really, is it any different than the hordes of far-leftist news stations in that regard? They're all biased in one way or another because all people are biased in one way or another.

Every news station has to promote objectivity. If they slathered themselves as an extremely conservative station, it would slander their supposed professional credibility.

Id pay money to see Beck or O'Reilly perform their shtick in front of a live audience.

When they spout out uninformed bullshit they would have to justify it at least a little bit, right now they get no useful feedback because they are so sheltered.

Other networks may have their own biases... but only FOX out-and-out lies and makes sh!t up. Like the "$20 billion Obama trip" and huge naval redeployment... with zero actual facts behind what every single one of their puppets keeps spouting forth like gospel from Heaven. Lie enough times, and it becomes (FOX's) truth!

Does anyone that complain about fox actually watch fox? I watch fox everyday with my family and sometimes they are a little biased but they do show both sides of the story. I just don't get why you guys hate fox news so much.

NOW there is one thing that you have to know about fox news though. It's not real news but more of an opinionated debate about the government. They will normally just talk about politics and sometimes show some tidbits of other things. They try to be as moderate as possible and in all honesty there is nothing wrong with that.

but at least I will know where the Escapist stands.
You've clearly never been in the Religion and Politics forum.
I wonder if he'll avoid the trap door?

OT: I personally think all news is naturally biased. Fox is something else though... Am I ever glad that the Canadian equivalent of Fox (sun something or other) didn't get the rights to broadcast in Canada. Canada doesn't need a Fox network.
I thought Star/Sun whatever is still trying to get those rights? And I want them to. CTV is not exactly quality reporting.

Fox is as fair and rational as the Salem Witch Trials.
They immediately decide what they don't like then they rip it to shreds, claiming its evil and anyone who disagrees with them on the topic is evil.

Incidently I've had a seething hatred of them ever since they took a "fair and rational" look at Mass Effect's "Hardcore Alien Porn scenes".

Dumbasses.
LRR actually did a great video about that: http://loadingreadyrun.com/videos/view/302/Max-Effect
It's roflcopter funny, until you realize it's uncannily close to the actual, serious Fox News report http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKzF173GqTU, right down to the title banner at the bottom of the screen - at which point it's of course still funny but also makes me die a little inside. It's the same thing as with The Daily Show: huge fan, but seeing the blindingly obvious, sheer absurdity of what so many people take seriously makes me despair and lose faith in humanity.

The most annoying thing about Fox News is they constantly report "facts" procured entirely from the conservative thinktank known as Their Ass, then go out and poll "the American people" (read: Fox News audience) regarding their opinions on topics of which their entire body of knowledge comes directly from Fox News itself. It's like locking you in a tiny room for 20 years and then asking if you have claustrophobia - I didn't until you locked me in a tiny room for 20 years, thanks!
