Well, I don't see the morality issue, there's nothing morally wrong with it, but I assume all the people who took it would be smart which would make them easier to like. I'd definitely do it.

P.S. I was too high while reading this to realize it was a hypothetical situation until halfway through the post.

Unlikely senario, but sure I'm game.
This question isn't about the people that do take the serum, but about those who do. Many people will feel uncomfortable with the serum changing their bodies, and therefore won't take them. And that's perfectly understandable and reasonable. But the people who won't take the serum will have a huge disadvanatage towarxs those who do take it. Anyone who wants to have a job will be forced to take the serum, because if they don't the company will just hire someone who does.
In short the creation of such a serum will force people to take it and mess with their bodies. And that is immoral.
I would fight to get the serum banned, but if I failed I would join in. Hope I'll become a cool animal.

Honestly? Hell yes I would.

Besides which, have you been reading David Gemmel recently?

Also, for people saying human evolution has halted, that's not true. Just because the environment has less of a direct effect doesn't mean we're not evolving. Assuming we don't go extinct we'll likely interbreed into a single race, and as is always the case whoever's making the most babies will have the greatest impact on the direction the species goes. We're currently evolving immunities to diseases that affect pre-pubescents, as the ones effected aren't able to pass on their genes.
Personally, I believe something quite different. Species are always evolving in tons of interesting and unique ways, but only a few of the changes aid in survival, and so help to assure the breeding and passing down of said changes.

Because of our adaptability and technological advances, even the weak and more unusual traits continue to live on, and so I believe that humanity has amongst the greatest potential in history to diverge and begin to evolve along numerous and different paths.

I would do it, no question. Superhuman abilities and the ability to become a real-life furry. Screw discrimination and hatred, worst comes to worst I threaten them with my shiny new wolf claws and teeth. In all reality there is no downside in that for me.
This. and i think the descrimination is about them dressing up. if they were part animsl, nobody would descriminate. except people like Westboro.

So... We blame... Dinosaurs, not just any Dinosaurs, but anthropomorphic Dinosaurs no less, for Global Warming? Someone call Captain Planet and make this really interesting...
I want to see that. I can picture it now, and it is awesome.

OH GOD WHAT HAVE YOU DONE
Wow... That is... I'm not even sure. There's no words to describe that. Though the girl-gamer is the funniest of that lot.

1) Such a serum would undoubtedly be prohibitively expensive, at least initially.

2) "Anthropomorph" and "Furry" are two very different things. The OP is actually referring to the former.

First off, wonderful reference good sir! Work it harder, make it better, do it faster, makes us stronger!

Secondly, I would never even think of using it. I don't want to have things I could achieve realistically with the added bonus of becoming a 'furry.' We don't need this, last time I checked stupidity and lack of strength wasn't a bigger problem than disease.

Usually, these kinds of "moral questions" have some sort of downside.

Become superhuman/smart/strong/whatever and become a badass anthro "fox-human," "wolf-human" or other such "furry" seems like two benefits for a lot of people.

Obviously there would be logistical issues, but if these serums become widespread and inexpensive, clothing manufacturers, shampoo/bodywash makers, dentists, healthcare professionals and other industry standards would eventually have options for these superhumans/whatever. I mean if I was part of the first-wave, it might be an issue, but I don't even mean social discrimination, I mean like, do I need to buy buckets of shampoo to clean my fur? If I require medical attention, will they treat me? How will this company compensate me? Do I have to pay them for the serum? Do they pay ME to test their serum?

Will they make keyboards/mice/controllers/headphones/toothbrushes that I can use? Will the transformation even affect my hands?

There are countless more questions that I have, but generally speaking, it doesn't sound that bad.

Well, it's not like I'm not already facing a whole host of social problems. And sort-superhuman abilities? Hell yes. And I think I'll fnish with
I agree with Dragnridr3. First reply. I agree with all the points stated in it.

No, basically because in my over-whatifrical mind I'd be asking myself what the downfall, the catch, or the side effects are to this drug beyond it's furriness.

I imagine that instincts and basic animalistic urges would heighten as well, leading to territorial wars and a loss of organized society without some construct of alpha males ruling over prides or packs. Could also lead to a loss of ingenuity, which is tied to but not exclusive to intelligence. Without ingenuity you lose creativity and end up a work horse, being able to solve equations and life heavy objects but not so good at being inventiveNot to mention that by exploiting the new, heightened animalistic urges of the Furs, non-users may easily be able to manipulate them into doing the grunt work thus creating class systems where the Humans are on top and the Furs are near bottom., which is integral to my line of work so...

Nope.

I'd do it if it came with a monkey's tail strong enough to let me swing on branches.

It's probably not possible though to just take some serum for this drastic a change.
If it does work, and you develop a fetish for some animal, who's to know what else kind of change it would probably involve?
We'd basically become cavemen. With jobs.

I'm gonna have to pass on this one. (Has mostly to do with me playing sports a lot. A firm believer in fair play.)

i have to say, i doubt that in any sort of stable world this sort of thing would ever get invented, and in the envent that they did find a way of making it and not having your heart give out, i really doubt they would release it for human use until the sorted out the "furi" thing... seriously, wtf?

and it would be easier if they found a way to increase muscle density, basically, an instant body buff, this would work without killing your hear as well as it is also a muscle, so it would have the capacity to pump blood to all your new cells, and it wouldnt require "furyness" as all it would need would be a theoretical stimulant that encourages specific cell mitosis, the trouble would be stoping it from giving you cancer

Easy I'd take the serum for the powers, but I'd choose a gorilla gene type. I'd probably be pretty ugly, but if I shaved every day I'd pass for human.

PURGE THE UNCLEAN IN THE NAME OF THE EMPEROR!..now that I've gotten that out of my system, I'd probably think hard about it but never go through with it. I've never really cared about my physical appearance anyway, though I can see how having a fur coat and inhuman features would make getting a job difficult.

I've had similar thoughts about tattoos. As cool as a tattoo matching Revy's would look, I think about the procedure and it remains little more than a nice wish.

I'd just have one question: What animalistic hybrid would I end up being?
