Give an apology or the Amazonbombs continue, though I am aware the author of the article has no control of her.
There is a problem with those, though. The flame reviews given on her books are only going to lend credence to her arguements by those that read her books or seek her for psychiatric help. Those people already, on some level, agree with her view point and seeing this is only going to cement her in their minds.
The other thing is this, "There is no such thing as bad press." All this attention is making her famous. I've read the "Resolution on Violence in Video Games and Interactive Media" and while redundant it remains speculative, based on psychological theory, it contains no actual evidence of cause and effect.
So, its time to do the only thing that actually works with these people, ignore them. Its time we took the higher ground on these things and stop with the amazon review bombing and stop making this woman famous.
I'd like to think we are better than her and in fact I know we are.

So she appears, at first glance, to be a somewhat intellectually dishonest douchenozzle.

And at second glance as well.

On the other hand, I was not at all interested in the game in question and now quite fancy it because I enjoy furore. I am pretty sure that it won't make me all rapey.

Now I would argue that there is, of course, no increase in rape at all. Just an increase in REPORTED rapes, which is a different beastie. And the reasoning for that has absolutely fuck all to do with video games and everything to do with the hard work of campaigners and law enforcement professionals to change the way that rapes are handled, investigated and prosecuted.

Her whole premise of an increase in rape has unprovable foundation. In short. She is full of shit.

Wait, wait.... Aren't Psyches required to undertake psychological evaluations before graduating/during studies or something? If so how did she pass?....

Her logic is flawed.

EDIT: My profile picture just about sums up how I feel about this situation.

So Bulletwtorm is currently getting the best advertising they could ever hope for thanks to Fox. Its too bad the irony is lost on them - that they're helping the machine they're trying ever-so-hard to shut down.

I once tried to think like a Fox reporter. I didn't think about a whole lot.

._. Why am I not surprised her last name is Lieberman? That both she and Senator Joe Lieberman are both this against video games without a shred of reasonable proof cannot be a coincidence. Possibly just a coincidence, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they were related.

I'm ashamed to share the field of psychology with her. She doesn't care about science, she just wants attention. You think she'd figure this out about herself but..

Haa!! What a quack... Filing it away where, exactly, Ms. Lieberman? As an MA student I notice that most serious academics tend to use things called computers, external hard drives, google documents, email, flash drives and the like to store their hard data and vital research. In fact, there are multiple copies of such.

Do you mean to tell me that as a professional researching Media Violence, you lack the basic skills or awareness of digital media?

Who exactly runs your office? What is your methodology? Furthermore, why not produce your own research and clinical trials?

Yeah. Thought not.

Many people in the medical fields unfortunately use their "authority" to push political agendas, like she is doing. In my opinion, people should get their licenses revoked when they do this. The proof these people are presenting is the equivalent of 'proving' that martians exist by citing War of the Worlds.

She's an idiot. That's all there is to it.

How hard is it to understand that you don't become violent by being exposed to violent media. Violent people are attracted to violent stuff. So it's not surprising if you see a rapist playing RapeLay. But it doesn't mean a normal person will become a rapist playing it. Violent people always existed and they will always exist. It's human nature.

Huh... Apparently to her a "national poll" counts as a "study."
ROIGHT! Well then I'm going to have a "national poll" over the cuteness of bunnies and then call it a study!

I R DOKTOR NAO.
To be fair, she wasn't presenting the poll as a study to back her claims, but to give an example as to why she thought video game violence was in the public eye, and thus why she didn't have the studies ready upon demand when asked to back up her claims. The evidence she gave was in actual studies.

Agreed.

Christ, seriously, someone take this womans licence away. Also, take notice she puts as PROOF, her OWN speeches AND essays. What college/university did she attend?

Getting it revoked is a little harsh. But her patients should know that shes trying to use her knowledge to push her own political agenda despite the evidence that she's wrong.

When all else fails, blame the readers for not knowing about studies that any college freshman would know need to be cited.

Except for the columbine shootings it was already mentioned and shown that it wasn't media violence it was that the shooters had mental issues and were severely bullied.

I don't see how every blogger, reporter and gamer could have every study made at their fingertips. What a presumptuous media-grubbing moron.

I think we can say one thing for certain:

Beating about the bush is this woman's second profession. There isn't even a clear statement in that ramble, besides "Oh, well, I r thought it was obvious lulz!".

tbh I am not going to read all those studies she listed to find out that she is wrong and has drawn silly conclusions from multiple studies into one amalgam of an idea. I'm too busy gaming and not raping OR fighting OR being overtly agressive in any way.

Maybe Video games do increase aggression temporarily... so do most sports. In fact a raised heart rate doesn't gain an emotional response attributed to it (like anger OR arousal) until after the event when you try to rationalise it. If you want to find the evidence for that I read it on Cracked the other day (valentines season stuff, you know) and I'm certainly not going to the extent she went to in references (good move by her on that, we're given so much shit we can't deal with it all).

ANYWAY I'd like her to do an actual study on comparing the percentage of men who played violent video games with the percentage of male rapists (you can even include the unconvicted ones if you think it will help) and see if there is ANY correlation. Then tell me I'm wrong.

Also... On Fox, a news network... brings up Columbine... and then accuses video games?

I'll roll out the standard response...
