Dumb, duh duh, dumb. Well, she sure has a lot of confidence in herself. Good luck with all that, I say. Also, good luck if she ever has to find another job. I can imagine the university employment process right now, "Well, her resume is impeccable and she's published. Let's just take a quick google search and see if there's anythin- Oh dear Lord!"

Or maybe the notion of her having to explain to a human resources rep, "Yeah, I went on Fox News (red flag #1) and said (red flag #2) that video games could be linked to an increase in sexual violence (red flag #3)." Ooo. As an underemployed college grad, that thought feels good. Go on amazon and check out that self written / PR rep five star review accusing "bloggers" of tearing down an otherwise great book. Oh, she thinks we're bloggers. How cute.

So just keep digging that hole ever deeper. I almost feel bad, since she's just regurgitating information she's been hearing for year into total lies. Emphasis on almost.

I think there should be a reverse study. Instead of looking at gaming culture, look at convicted rapists. Then plot how many of those are regular gamers, or who have even touched a game.

The results would hopefully clear some things up.

Edit: She probably thinks 'blind experiments' involve doing things to the visually impaired. I mean, seriously. The first fucking thing we learnt in Psychology is the importance of a Randomised Controlled Trial. Golden standard, anyone?

The fact she is trying to look holier than thou, has the Disney kid pose of arms crossed and pouty face...

I still think she's a idiot.

Wow. This person has certainly been injected with enough liquidized stupid to justify low grades for several large cities. Seriously, does she not understand the faults everyone with common sense has seen in her logic? Does she not take into account that a mere fraction of games contain ANY kind of actual sexual referencing or usage and that saying all games could lead to rape is probably he most retarded over-generalization ever made (aside from Southern Farmers of the early 1800's thinking that black-people were good farm equipment). That's right, I'm comparing her to Confederate American ideology.

Hopefully a credible psychologist will speak up and tell people just how wrong she is so that we can move on. Games get enough bad press without some idiot like her getting screen time to add more fuel to the fire.

Ummm...which of those examples is relevant to violence in games leading to rape? Most are about TV violence (a medium she gleefully uses for profit).

Funny how Lieberman says she was an 'expert' witness (on her web site) in the case of the 'People v. Jonathan Schmitz (Jenny Jones Talk Show Murder Trial)'.

Her request to be paid for her 'expert' testimony was actually refused by the judge.

She also billed the lawyers $26,500 for 56.5 hours of 'work' (~$440/hr), so Lieberman is not doing this to help, but to profit. (not that Lieberman could account for these hours to the satisfaction of her client and was refused payment).

When attorney Geoffrey N. FIEGER refused to pay, Lieberman issued a press release at the trial titled "Psychiatrist Sues Fieger for Fraud". I am sue that 'helped' the defendant's case (having their lawyer accused of fraud).

Lieberman then threatened to 'accept offers to provide expert commentary on the Amedure case from various media outlets.' (ie undermine the case by revealing the defence strategies).

Lieberman claimed that Fieger used statements 'owned' by Lieberman in his opening statement.

After Fieger stated on Court TV that Lieberman was less than sane;
He added that Burdick, Schmitz's original defense attorney, had told him ?in no uncertain terms? that Lieberman was ?mentally unbalanced? and ?a terrible witness who was disliked by the jury.? Fieger cited Lieberman's upcoming book and accused her of hunting publicity, stating:  ?this thing is being broadcast world-wide and it brings out the Looney Tunes. And this is one of the Looney Tunes.? He added that ?in the criminal case, she had the audacity to submit a bill of $100,000,? but the court ?laughed at her and gave her zero.? He concluded by stating that the description ?of the nuts growing on trees? in California was ?not that far off.?
Lieberman sued and lost, appealed and lost.

Huh... Apparently to her a "national poll" counts as a "study."

"When the Columbine murders took place, there were national polls where people voted on what they believed caused the two young men to kill. Media violence ranked high on the list, so I, obviously mistakenly, assumed that people still knew about the studies showing this connection - and believed them to have proven the link."

So her defense was that it was the majority opinion several years ago, and the would be some statistical evidence some where even if she never heard of it. Well your defense sucks and you've still lost all credibility as researcher. If majority opinion was fact we should be turning to Family Feud for all the answers to the universe. Jezz at least the women who called Mass Effect a sex sim apologized. She's basically apologizing by saying "I'm sorry your all rapists"

Okay I want to know how she still holds a medical licence? Doesn't America have a medical association of some sort to jump up and down on these idiots dragging down their profession?

I mean honestly from what I've seen only a handful of professionals, mainly people whose studies she's misquoted, have came out against her blatantly unscientific approach; Where is the condemnation of her peers for talking bullshit.

I see no mention of rape in those studies. Yeah, a true professional.
Oh goodie, I just realized I never dropped this for her the first time around, I guess it's still relevant now!

So... Just for clarity, this ''psychiatrist's'' defense amounts to 'I said something that someone else said, therefore I am right'?

Even playground arguments are more intelligent than this woman's.

none of that really qualifies her......just saying
she may very well have made an equal degree of error in her previous "experiences" (I'm being nice, she was probably just as wrong then as she is now)

i played the Bulletstorm demo and i personally feel no desire to go commit a violent crime and/or rape. however, i will admit the demo influenced me to go preorder the full version when at the end it called me "dick-tits."

The title of this thread is misleading. I didn't see any "defense" of her position, just more bullshit.

How she passed her 100-level science classes in college with so tenuous a grip on the scientific method is beyond me. Unless instances of her wiping her chin as a freshman weren't due to lunch.

It's bad enough that there are people like this to cast a bad light on the psychiatric profession, but she might in the process have set the cause of feminism back fifty years as well.
