Only one I can think of is X3, I just.. How. How can that game be fun.

Even still I don't consider myself beaten. I know I will go back to it, one day, when I have a death wish.

Call of Duty: World at War.

Grenades. Grenades everywhere.

That, and it's also one of the worst examples of 'hard difficulty' ever. Sure, it's hard, but in the wrong way. It's more unfair than anything else. Infinitely respawning enemies who are masters of the way of the grenade toss. Screw that.

Demon's Souls. Twice, though I beat it once.

First character, second playthrough, Flamelurker. Couldn't fight him straight up, he refused to stay behind the ribcage trick, and I didn't use a large quantity of boss souls meaning I lacked the best equipment. Ragequit.

Third character, first playthrough, Old King Allant. I don't know why, but I just couldn't beat him. My first character even got soulsucker'd twice, losing the strength to use my shield effectively, and I still beat him my first try. I just couldn't. Eventually got to pure black tendency (fuck off reseting after Miralda) and which point his magic goes through all my shields. Ragequit.

Anything that plays badly.
And by badly I mean horrible .. like (Tecmo Koei's) Quantum Theory or Ninjabread Man.

Even games that were dicks, such as Ninja Gaiden 2, were fine because if they don't pay badly I could at least soldier through with memory and execution.

I don't consider games where the entire point is to cater to masochists worth my time, so I don't tackle Boshy and such.

I've also pretty much quit games where you team up with randoms.
Even in MOBA type games, where though playing with a fixed team is cool, you don't get enough matchup experience by just doing so. Meaning having to team up with randoms becomes a roadblock I'm not cool with.

The last mission in gta4. A combination of poor optimisation on a powerful rig and the helicopter controls being shit and then throw in you have to use those to ain rockets at a boat firing RPGs, I cannot remember but i think there was also a time limit, or some sort of limit at that.

You fly too high fail,
You get blown up,
You fly into the sea,
You get knocked into the sea,
The game crashes (typically when you are doing well).

All happened most more than once. Now I have an updated rig maybe this is the time to take another crack at it. or go fuck it and play the episodes...or just play saints row...or skyrim...or the other 20 unplayed games on steam I have.

Sonic the Hedgehog '06, this can explain it:

Can I wipe my achievments for that game now? I feel dirty knowing that I actually beat it.....
I never even bothered playing after beating Sonic's story. I got about partway through both Shadow and Silver's story before quitting.

To think, I was looking forward to playing this game when I bought it. -_-

Huh. How very appropriate for this thread.

IWBTG. Though that's not as much a "game" as it is "self-flagellation". Suffice to say, I gave up sometime around Kradgief and every moment up until that was sheer agony except maybe the brief and far-in-between moments of "Wow I made it!"

But I think it's so far the only game that I have actually "given up on" as opposed to "postponed to an indeterminate later time in the future".

Vergil. Just Vergil.
Oh, come on. Vergil on DMD mode? That's not the game defeating you. By that time, you've unlocked a bunch of stuff from multiple times winning. Dante Must Die is clearly defined as masochism.

OT: Defeated by one of my games... I'm afraid I find that confusing. As in never beating or just never finishing? Because never finishing is not realistic anyhow. I'll get to it eventually. Life happens.

Super Meat Boy. But not cause of the crushing difficulty or the fact that I suck at hard games, no, no. It's the fact I was using a key board... Really. I promise.

Both of you made it farther than I did. I never finished any of the stories. In Sonic's story I got to the train level before giving up. In Silver's, it was the swamp level (where the FUCK is the exit???). and in Shadow's... I forget.

The worst is the second to last level. The last part of it.

I swear to god, there were more Germans than there were Russians.

And more grenades than both of them combined. Yet I still managed to beat it. After about a month or two.
