Games that you mentally declare non-canon.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. >.< Gawd so stupid.

Fallout: Tactics and BoS, the REAL terrible sequels people ignore whilst complaining about 3 and New Vegas (which I find to be exemplary.) Actually, to be fair, Tactics was pretty good, it's just non-cannon.

Munch's Oddysee. Well, cannon-wise it's not bad, but the gameplay was terrible in three dimensions.

Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2

I just think of it all as a 'what if'
I thought that was the point of both those games, to be a 'what if'?, I've only played the first but at the end of that you could:

Kill the Emperor or Darth Vader, if I remember correctly?

I'm sure we've all played an entry in a video-game series that has been so bad (in relation to the other entries) that you simply forget about it and declare it non-canon. Whilst the popular choice for this sort of thing would be Devil May Cry 2 and Deus Ex invisible war, I'm gunna mention Metal Gear Solid 2. Whilst, from a gameplay standpoint, it was actually quite good and an evolution of MGS's sneaking, Raiden was simply annoying and unlikable in comparison to Solid Snake and the plot was a bit of a mess. At the end, I wasn't really sure what I achieved, and playing the chronological sequel, MGS 4, aside from featuring Raiden, Rose and Vamp, it barely referenced 2 at all. As such, I don?t count it any more. It's not a bad game, it's just not part of the MGS story.

CAPCHA: it's over. How glum.
What about the Patriots? You can't just ignore them! And Raiden has a decent place in MGS4 so it would be kinda hard to explain hid presence.

Also Red Alert 3 even though I think the Devs admitted it isn't canon.

All prince of persia games after the sands of time.

Also all New Vegas DLC except the honest hearts one because frankly the burned man is awesome.

Not saying I don't absolutely love those games I've excluded, I just prefer to consider them non-canon.
I don't think I could tolerate a world without Think-Tank. They're just too funny.

That said, can see why the tone of it would make someone declare it non-canon.

Bioshock 2, it never happened and from the looks of how Infanite is shaping out I think Irrational games are trying to get as far away from it as possible too.

I don't understand why some people say "Dragon Age 2". There never was a sequel to DA:O... I really wish they would make one though.

How long will it take for Morrowind/Daggerfall fanboys to invade thread and shout "Oblivion!", "Skyrim!"...
apparently longer then it took the fallout 1 and 2 fanboys to come and start at it.

The Old Republic (and the accompanying novel).
It basically undoes Knights of the Old Republic 2, which is one of my favorite stories in gaming.

I really generally can slot the story into a time line, it gets bad when they overhaul designs like in DA2 but its generally not a total loss. What I focus on is gameplay and simply want more depth in it.Things like Bioshiock being held down by hand holding and easy/over simplified game play and level design or DA 2 having consoleized controls or Fallout 3 being a complete mess balance/skill/equipment wise. Even Oblivion had a ton of issues mostly due to watering stuff down.

Metroid another M is one game I can't fit into the other all story, I mean on one level I can but I always seen Samus as a abandoned wild child who was found by the space marines and gave them hell ala mega man legends style hijinks. Running around playing around with her powers(the suit is basically her powers). Going into air ducts messing up repair drones and capture drones, exploring abandoned sections of the base, finding ancient ruins under the base, ect, ect that would be a much better than that mess of M that just destroyed her character.

Final Fantasy X-2
so far is the only game I considered non-cannon just because how badly they ruined the Final Fantasy X brand
I kinda wish they went more FF5 with it but then again the -2 branding is basically this is left overs we don't want to put in the game so we are selling it as another game BS.... S/E more udder rich than capcom...

I've always seen threads like this as an excuse for people who don't like certain games in a series to claim that clearly they can modify the author's intent however they like. No, you really do have to accept that MGS2, Invisible War, Homeworld Cataclysm, ME3, and whatever else you don't like, are part of canon. They are.
The ironic thing is that, out of the 4 games that you mentioned, 3 of them could literally be deleted from history, and their respective series would still make perfect sense without them.

Deus Ex Inv- That game doesn't exist.
That, and also, I haven't actually played it but I'm surprised no one mentioned Ultima IX, since apparently fans of the series hated that.

Sonic:

Heroes, Shadow, Riders, 06, Zero Gravity (but the Hero theme was so badass enough I considered keeping it canon, Unleashed, the Kinect Riders one and Generations.

I don't remember anything implying that the great war was started by aliens.
One of the recordings is as follows:

(Alien babble)
Our defenses consist of 3 battalions of light infantry, 34
pieces of field artillery, 108 armored vehicles and 42
aerial vehicles.
(Alien babble)
We have 38 ICBM's always on alert and ready to fire when
the word is passed down from the White House.
(Alien babble)
The codes to activate the launch sequences are...are...
uhhngh... no... I can't let you... uggh... get out of my mind!
(Alien babble)
Agggh! The c-codes... are... ugh.... no... I can't betray... AGH!
My head! I can't... won't... AGGGGH! Agggh...

It implys that aliens started the war. That is a pretty bullshit thing to do. The reasons for the war are meant to be purely human.

This, that DLC pissed me off especially considering how well Bethesda had handled the universe up to that point.

Mass Effect 3. I just ignore it and think of the way it should have ended. Harbinger, lying dead on the ground. Shepard, Liara, and Garrus having drinks on the beach with dead reapers crashing into the ocean. No god-child, no colored explosions, a bunch of dead reapers and Shepard's choices having real consequences.

Arcania Gothic 4. Took everything that was good about the first two and stripped them away to make a generic dumbed down rpg. Gothic 1 and 2 are some of the best rpgs I've ever played. Gothic 3 was good enough for me to consider Canon but I will never forgive them for what they did to the fourth one.
