I do shop there from time to time for second hand games but they are very very very in the dark when it comes to any real gaming news well some employees are I can't speak for all. I mentioned the MW2 boycott there and no one had even heard about it and this was around the month it happened which was very big news at the time.
That's why I like the third gamestop I mentioned because their actually real gamers who work their and they know whats going on.
I just wish more or all Gamestops were like this or all employees had to have atleast some knowledge of the gaming news. Imagine working at a news station and not knowing the lastest current affairs?

I never have a problem with the people at the local Gamestop, but then again, they know I can go up a ladder and shut off their heat and power.

i havent got anything against them.. however the chaps that work at the nearest gamestop to where i live are kinda wankers... but i cant argue with their dirt cheap used games that are perfectly good =D

Personally I like EBGames/Gamestop. The employees there are friendly (that I've met), and they have a wide selection of games that I enjoy. I can't really say anything bad about them.

I've never liked Gamestop. They should have gone under when they hit the bankruptcy. Thanks, Barnes & Noble, for saving their asses. /sarcasm

I like it as long as they don't tell me to buy a PS3 with my Xbox 360 games.
Too bad that happens every time I go there.
Two years ago, I was getting the opposite.

It's very annoying that as a 26 year old man, who usually goes in the store with my wife and kids, they still feel the need to card me for an M rated game. I don't even look young, I have a beard and a wedding band on! And, this happens every time I go, always to the same store and occasionaly the same employees. It's not like I'm trying to buy booze, I'm just picking up a game.

Other than that, besides the trade-in values, I love Gamestop. Lot of games, good prices, right down the street in the mall. It gives me a place to go when my wife hits up Bath and Body Works.

They have to, the rules they are handed by the ESRB and corporate are the same as the way the tobacco laws are: if you look under 30 they have to card you.

I like GameStop. I go there every time I want to buy a game. In fact I went there just last week for Darksiders. I love going there, 'cause the employees always know what they're talking about, and are pretty damn helpful when help is needed. I'd like to work there at some point. (If only for the discount! XD)

They're fine enough, I have been to probably 7 different GameStops and my experience changes from store to store as far as employee to customer interaction is concerned.

I don't understand a lot of hate they get from people complaining about their trade-ins. If you think you are getting shafted you are under no obligation to sell your games to them. Sell them elsewhere.

I usually buy/sell on EBay myself, better pricing on both ends. I do however think when they are selling 2 used games 1 free you can get a good deal. Plus, if you want older games they can be cheaper there since you aren't paying for shipping.

Most of my gripes are of course when they try to sell you other items, chiefly the subscription to Game Informer. Knowing many people who work in the game development world most do not have favorable opinions of the magazine. In a few cases because they had experienced first hand their practice of... for lack of a better term protection money (they asked him if he wanted to purchase ad space, hinted that it may impact their rating, he declined, the magazine gave them a notoriously low rating for a game that generally got favorable reviews; next game they released they purchased ad space and got a good review).

I hate how every time I buy a game with a mature rating I have to have my parents there. And I hate how they are so far away from me.

Haven't seen a Gamestop in my life. I live in The Netherlands. I buy my media mostly from Freerecordshop, they got a shop in a nearby shopping mall. There are a few other media shops nearby besides Freerecord, but they usually have less choice. When I can't find it in Freerecord, i buy it through Dutch online webshops.

Unfortunatly the government had a crackdown on the local mall and they fined a shop for 2000,- euro for selling a game to a minor. Now, I'm 18 and I bring my ID with me everywhere as per required by law, but I feel annoyed when shopkeepers ask to see it when I'm buying a 16+ game or movie. Either they can't judge wether I'm 18, or they fear to make a accidental mistake and get an epic fine.

I HATE GameStop lol. I worked for their biggest competitor Game Crazy. GameStop employees,at least all the ones I've ever met are jerks with next to no game knowledge, and even less in he pleasantry department.
