For me it has to be Snow from FF 13. Of all the thigs I hated about that game (and there were ALOT of things I hated about that game) I hated him the most. Biggest douche in the universe. A close second for me is Carver from Dragon age 2.

So being optimistic, mostly selfless and kind to everyone else, while not being a one-dimensional idiot is a bad thi--oh nevermind. This is Final Fantasy of course. I forgot that unless the character is badly written, shallow and incredibly emo/pesimmistic, it must be a bad character. You do realize that there's a good reason for his constant "We're going to save everyone! Serah!" talks instead of him being an idiot, dense or even being a goddamn optimist, right? It's, surprisingly, not that simple. And yes, his dialogue is bad, just like everyone else's dialogue, so it would be weird to call him out on that. It's a shitty game.

Seriously, beyond the slightly similar hairstyle, those two look nothing alike. Plsu he got a makeover and doesn't even look like that anymore. And saying a character is a douche before you've even played the game? Judging that just on his apperance. That is especially douchey.

In OP's defence, Dante has always been a bit of a douche.
But a cool douche who makes you laugh and would buy you a drink if it was his round sort of douche.
He's always been a bit cocky, but lets that cockiness out by kicking ass without breaking a sweat.

This new guy, from what we've seen in the trailers, seems much more like a poser. His facial expressions and poses seem to make it seem like he's looking at the camera saying "I be awesome."


So in essence, Dante is, and always will be, a douche.

OT: For me, any game company/director who refuses to accept criticism. I don't care if a company makes mistakes, as long as they LEARN from them...

And yes I am a hardcore PC gamer, and when someone shits on my choice of platform to play games I'm not a big fan. And he then screams bloody murder and calls me a pirate when he tries to squeeze a penny out of me and I don't buy/play his game because it is a god awful port.

Oh wow, that's funny as hell. Still, though, I can't see how he's making gaming more generic/worse. From a game design standpoint, anyway; I can't say anything about if he's affecting the industry side of things.

I just don't get why people can't accept criticism, absorb the sensible comments then go on to make a better overall product, instead of burying their head in the sand, hang a sign round their neck saying "I ams the graytest" and keep making the same mistakes.

The whole "But white-haired Dante was a GOOD douche!" thing is just retarded. It's even more retarded then deciding that black-haired Dante is an even bigger douche based on a scant few minutes of gameplay and some screen-shots. I don't think we've even seen any cutscenes or heard him talk yet.
