Hmm, another 30 fps only-at-launch situation.

It used to be not that big of a deal, but with tech continuing to evolve, it has become yet another red flag to look out for.

Apparently Tears of Kingdom is gonna be in 30 fps too, but that's fine since Switch really isn't know for being a beefy console. Plus I'm pretty sure the quality of TOK will dwarf that of Redfall.

What kind of bullshit is this? I get a solid 120 FPS at 1440p on Forza Horizon 5 with a Ryzen 5 5600 and a Radeon 6700XT, and I'm not exactly skimping on the bells and whistles. Are they trying to make us believe that DI2 is just so much more graphically advanced, or is this just yet another shoddy port?

Pretty sure it eventually just get slapped on pretty much every AAA game no matter what when the Game+DLC edition comes out. To the point it's mostly meaningless.

Now Kotaku is upset they were not invited to the FF16 media event.

Also, Kotaku was part of that "Japanese games are dead!/JRPG used as a derogatory term" mentality back in the late 2000s and early the mid 2010s. Though they weren't the worst about it.

30FPS is fine for most games. 60 is always better but it generally is fine. Especially with cartoon stylized graphics.

But the best 30fps games are built to only be 30fps. Redfall is just outright not finished. Also in fairness to Nintendo their console cant do 60 so it isnt a demand that players would have anyway. Xbox and playstation can. So there is less excuse for it.

Re: the fps thing and Redfall, I'm surprised that I reacted with dismay at the news. Not just because I don't care about this game, but I'm just annoyed that any of this is around. The whole point of consoles is plug-n-play not think about it. I'm salty that I even have to choose from "performance" and "quality"- I paid hundreds of dollars for this sh** gimme both! Ugh.

Anyway, this is the coolest bit of marketing and while I'm not into fighting games anymore this sort of stunt is getting me on the SF6 hype train:

Yes, the console can run at 60. It just depends on who knows how to utilize it right or not. Which is ironic enough, because it's their console. They can get Mario Odyssey to run at 60 frames per second just fine. Metroid Dread can run at 60 FPS. All the Bayonetta games run at 60 just fine. Before anyone starts about B3, it really only lags on certain cutscenes. Even then, they made a new patch for it a long while back. Platinum are wizards when they come to this stuff.
