Just to add... I no more have a problem with conservatism or right wing politics than I have a problem with liberalism or left wing politics... I find they are both as bad as each other. The only solution is a healthy balance.

It is just that conservative columnists have a notorious reputation that is well deserved for whipping up a controversy when there is none.

First, and most importantly, anything that is labled as Conservative, or right wing, or Republican, can be discounted as a ridiculous opinion from the stupid loud people who would coat the USA in shit if they thought they could get a few misinformed want-to-be-patriots to join their cause, which is to coat the USA in shit so a few more misinformed want-to-be-patriots... It's a terrible cycle which makes the rest of the world hate us.
I thought liberals were supposed to be accepting of others. I guess not.

Second, those of us that aren't involved in the aforementioned cycle, are the real patriots, on here defending google's right not to show a bloody re-creation of D-day on their front page. We know the internet doesn't belong to the USA
Ironically, the internet was invented by the US military in the 1960s and actually owned by an American company until the early 1990s...

Thanks for playing though.
Hey, you just proved the guy you quoted right. You are kind indeed, although I get the sense that isnt what you wanted to do. See where you did it... "until the early 1990s" <right here, see?
I've posted throughout pages and pages of this mess to the point where those who wanted to argue and myself have come to a truce. I'm not about to get into it with you too. The point I was trying to make was, without America, the world wouldn't have the internet (at least not when it did). And since it was that persons first and only post, I am assuming it was a troll.

That's where I'm leaving it. If you want to argue with yourself, be my guest.
Well, I am clearly not going to argue with myself. Also, this was at the top of the page and there was no kind of truce between you and this person. Also, I have seen some of your other posts on this topic and to be honest they seem a bit troll-y. Oh and the point the other person was trying to make was the one they MADE! It was true and reasonable and yet you started something with this person, but came off as kinda dickish.
I figure I should tell you that I had no intention of arguing with you, but I saw your comment and I felt the need to show you your "mistake".

Dude. thats pathetic of the critics to say that google is unpatriotic. To even care in the first place what a fucking search engine does to its logo is pathetic. At the end of the day, its their logo, and they can do to it what they like. What would the design look like anyway? a screen shot from saving private rhyan? Blood splattered heads instead of 'O's?
How do you commemorate something like an invasion tastefully? Yea it was liberating Normandy, but still. Eh whatever.

I am still pround to be an American, and a Jew I should mention, even if some of the notable people of my country are ignorant dishits.

Further, allow me to clarify, I think that it's important to remember D-Day and the sacrifices people made. But it's Google's choice! Just becuase they aren't pro-American and bleed red white and blue doesn't mean that they are anti-American, after all they comply with DCMA and Hollywood industry so they can't be that unAmerican, right? As a general rule, Google has been globalistic, and culturally agnostic. These are also the people who allow you to do your searches in Swedish Chef. Geek jokes.

Lastly, quit yer bitchin' goes out not to just the major news media but the mudslinging idiots on this thread as well.

To be fair though, most conservative journalists, like Todd Huston, Bill O'Reilly (even though he's an independent), and Rush Limbaugh get paid to give their opinions rather than just report the news. And when it's a slow day at the office, sometimes stories like this happen.

I love reading all the American bashing in this thread because of what some American wrote about Google.

Huh?

My defenition of troll... that would be the same as everyone elses, but if you want the whole thing: a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community.

And how was that guy being a dick? For saying that the internet doesn't belong to the US? *GASP* Oh my GOD, he said something factually correct! And you were being a dick because of this: "Thanks for playing though.". Even though the statement you made proved him right and for some reason you felt the need to rub... something in his face... certainly couldnt have been about this, because you were wrong to bring it up.

And aside from that one asshole post I made, I was actually being very cordial with everyone. That's why you happen to be the only person on this site who has called me a troll. But, to each their own I suppose. Besides, I already explained why I said what I said, but if you don't want to acknowledge it, that's fine too.

Did you forget about Desert Storm?
No, but I feel Western involvement in the Gulf War was a PR exercise for the folks back home. It was Saudi Arabia's war, really. They bankrolled most of it, and were among the few nations actually threatened. Getting involved created more problems for the West than it solved. We lost what, a couple of hundred guys to enemy fire? While hundreds of thousands of Iraqi soldiers were killed, and countless Kuwaiti and Iraqi civilians were displaced by coalition forces. Sure, it was a war that had to be fought, but the overwhelming use of force by the West sent the wrong message. We're still paying for that.

Anyway, I don't really want to debate the particulars of wartime history - it's quite depressing.

Thats not inflammatory to Democrats, which I remember you calling "dummycrats". (So not exactly telling the whole truth with "And aside from that one asshole post I made")

And some could say that the people labeling things "Conservative, or right wing, or Republican" as trolls themselves. There isnt really a need to call something this unless it is a candidate for the said party. Also, what he said was kinda true.

HEY! I said you were "a bit troll-y", seriously, if you are going to quote me then do it. Don't f**k about and expect me not to notice!

LMAO when did I say "dummycrats"? I don't recall saying that ever. That sounds far too corny for me to say, and if I did, it was to intended be funny because it's so corny.

And no, what he said isn't kinda true. What he said was a false blanket generalization, which I don't appreciate.

Because I am a good sport, this is the only other heated political debate I ever engaged in here:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.111875?page=8#2000199

And what I said before about you being the only one who referred to me as "troll-y" I guess wasn't entirely true. I forgot about it, but Rajin Cajin called me a troll, although he thought I was someone else posting on a second account after I agreed with someone he disagreed with.

My bad. Apparently, it's two.
My point still stands.
If someone else already said this, my bad.

It's more like a 1/5 to 1/2 the country. There's a reason the race between Bush and Gore was so close.
Also, I checked. Google does Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Independence day. I shudder to think how many folks in the Bible Belt read that commentary and boycotted Google right then and there.

But it's only two bitching about how "Un-American" (read: Not sucking on the Cock of Patriotism) Google is.

And I live in the Bible Belt.
Sort of.
Florida.

Trust me - most of the people here/there probably can't even use computers.
For every one you know who wouldn't bother with the comp, I know one who does. Plus, what happens when the quote gets picked up by Limbaugh, O'Rielly, Savage, etc. You know the bloody whacks will start yammering to each other about it and it won't be just two anymore.

Whine whine. I agree with what's been said. Today, commie, tomorrow terrorist and the day after it's as american as can be again. Hypocrits. I have an idea, though. Let's put in pictures of thousands of dead soldiers on the main page next year. Let's see if it's not american then.
