And google inst anti-american because they dont put up some bullshit logo on american holidays, they dont do that with indian holidays or japanese holidays, so are google racist? Short anwser: No. Long anwser: No you pretentious dickwad. They can only be anti-american if they attack america for something.

"I have to say, though, that this is no departure for Google, a firm that finds it nearly impossible to post images celebrating any American holidays or important milestones in American history," he continued. "So, what we have here is just one more example of Google's essentially anti-American policies."

Well, why should they? If it is truely an 'american' holiday then why should a worldwide company be expected to recognise it? especially if it's not going to mean anything to anyone of any other nationality.

And how is not acknowledging D-Day 'anti-american'? What about the british troops? And what about France? you know, the country that was actually invaded

Does it not make more sense to celebrate something that a)is more recent (therefore has not been celebrated as often)b) has a more 'important' anniversary (25 is quater of a centry, 65 isn't really anything) C)brings joy rather than depression and regret d) is more relevant (what with being on the internet e.g., technology) e)is easier to show in a picture and f) is probably more relevant to the audience.

Just think, if Google did a D-Day themed logo on that day, there would be people who would complain that it's not about Tetris. It's a lose-lose situation.

1. I use that tiny box in upper-right corner of firefox, and I didn't have the need to visit google.hr in a long time, so I don't really care what holiday google does commemorate.
2. There isn't a SINGLE country in the world that doesn't have any-wing fucktards that make sense only to themselves (and voices in their heads)
3. Let's not forget that WW2 in Europe continued for almost a year after D-day and in Pacific theater even longer. So, if google decided to commemorate WW2 vets they could have picked May 7 or 8 OR September 2 1945.

Google is a private company, they can celebrate what they want, when they want. They aren't complaining about other companies not doing anything not 'D-day' aren't they?

Some people just need to learn to relax...

As far as I know, more Russians died fighting the Nazis than Americans. So if you want to get technical about it, all they are doing is giving credit to a Russian, a member of the people who sacrificed the most. Giving credit where credit is due, as it were.
But I might be overanalyzing it.

Besides, it's not like the people at Google sat down and pondered the question of D-day vs. Tetris.

And while I'm at it; D-day wasn't the only day where people gave their lives in that war. If they'd celebrated D-day, people like yours truly might have asked why only the people who died that particular day were celebrated.

In case I'm making any factual errors, I apologize in advance.

Look guys, I had a problem with conservative COLUMNISTS!! Not conservatives in general.

It seems once you give them some news space, they have every incentive to be as trollish as possible as it earns them the most money. Same principal with those high living privileged Actors with all their bullshit liberal commentary. I mean Alec Baldwin... fucking Alec Baldwin... I'm telling you that Team America parody of him is right on the fucking money.

Well this was a little late.
Maybe we're just lazy?
Also, what could they possibly turn the logo into that would be family friendly?
I see one of the o's being a decapitated nazi surprise face.

1) Tetris is more lighthearted and more of a celebration than "celebrating" a war.
2) Google are geeks. Thats why we love them.
3) It's their logo
4) Who says they are american: they are a multinational company!
5) I totally wrote all this without reading ReZerO posting a very similar post above but meh, I'm pressing post anyway.

Because only Americans were in D-Day. Yup, no other countrys attacked. Just America.
Because nobody else said this. Google is an American company, some extreme conservatives are annoyed that they choose to honor a video game, over America's entrance in the western front and work in liberating France and all of Europe.

Google is an American company. They're based out of America, operate out of America, and are registered as an American company. I can buy German car in America, but that doens't make it an American company. Just because you can get service form them internationally does not make them interational.

You've apparently never seen the google logo for the artist Monet's birthday. They put th elogo in a meadow, drawn in the style of his art. Who says that all google logos must be made out of something?

D-day can be an American day the same way it can be a French, English, or Candian

It's 16, now 17, pages because of comments like this when it's only one guy who wrote a moronic colomn. America =/= Todd Huston

been saying for years, "liberals" are insanely closed minded, turns out, theres actually a pair of studies done that found that conservatives are more likely to accept and analyze opposing views

funny how that works.
It's all subjective. One of my better friends campaigned for Barak Obama. She was actually employed and getting a paycheck from the DNC. Then there are those who think if it's conservative, it must be the worst thing ever. There are just as many conservatives who think the same way about liberals. I just wish more people realized this world isn't painted black and white.
