Google isn't an arm of the American government, therefore, it is not required to celebrate every little holiday by displaying 1000 American flags, as it is not owned by the American public.

Also, I believe Google's HQ are in Switzerland, so it doesn't matter x2.

The patriotism Americans display sickens me. They're so primitive.
Thanks for being a stereotyping jerk. Fucking Canadians. Primitive fucking Canadians. Make me sick.

...wurg.

I'm an American, but I can tell that's one of the most self-centered criticisms I've ever read.

While the tone of it is all wrong, understand where these people are coming from. Google choose to commemorate the universe of an iconic videogame, over one of the most important dates in history, whether it be American, British, Canadian, Australian, German, French, or Russian. The day that marked the beginning of the end for Hitler's Third Reich, and the liberation of those conquered lands (since the french couldn't hold their own.)

Commies have infiltrated Google! Everybody panic!
It's just like the right wing to desperately cling to any scrap of info that distracts people from their own idiocy, while ironically magnifying it. All you non-Americans, count yourselves lucky. Surely they don't have this kind of crap in other countries....

Let me get this straight. If something is not pro-American, than it's suddenly anti-American? Google is an international company and not a front-end to American zealots.

And yes, I much rather celebrate the oldest game still in production that brought joy to far more people than the ones who died a meaningless and horrible death on the beach of Normandy. If that makes me anti-American, well, cry me a river. I'm Hungarian and I don't have to care about your holidays, nor does the rest of the world.

BTW, I'm really sorry for all the sane and sensible Americans, because obviously their country is doing everything in it's power to incite the whole world against the USA. And they are dumbfounded to see that everyone starting to hate the shit out of their country. I wonder why...

Jeez. Google isn't just for America, guy who wrote that article bashing them. Why not say that they have a pro-Russian agenda if you say that they're anti-American?
Because we can't be mean to the filthy pinko commies-I mean-Russians anymore but we can gladly say they're being mean to ourselves.

We all remember really well about D-Day, but there are tons of big operations and battles from WWII and WWI, and what do we do?
We have a day (or for the US, two days) to remember EVERY battle instead of one, so every soldier who died is not forgotten.
Also, this is a search engine. How many people past 60 give a shit about what a search engine celebrates so long as it's not Nazism?

In response to this, Google has redone it's logo to be constructed of dead bodies and fat people draped in flags.

Who cares! Is it really that important that Google prioritize American holidays over other holidays and observances? I for one like that they aren't nationalistic 'tards.

"Nationalism is the greatest sin in human history". So many wars started by one nation doing to much sabre rattling. Anyway Americans have a right to be proud of those who fought in the war and to celebrate the sacrifice of those who died to make sure the world returned to freedom. However they like everyone else should equaly as proud of anyone who stood up to the nazis. French, British, Russian, American, Canadian..the list endless. It was the a defining moment when so much of the world and so many different people stepped forward and said no to evil, and maybe we should remember that before we start a flame war over whose nationality was more important or better

That's just sad... My grandpa is a World War 2 veteran, I remembered June 6 is D-Day, and I respect everyone who has served their country and I don't care that Google didn't do anything for D-Day!

Are you kidding me?
They're a freaking website! Of course a video game means more to it than the god damn normandy landing!
But yeah sure, why not, let's toss all of our childhood memories out of the window in favor of commemorating something that cost thousands of lives in the course of a few days and none of us have even experienced. Or had been born to be able to experience it, for that matter. All hail America and nothing else!

Complete lunacy.

I think I'd much rather have my web Search bar remind me that many years ago on this day, a Russian guy made a fun puzzle game about falling blocks, than be reminded about that time when my countrymen tried to storm a beach, and got fucked up pretty bad.
Besides, what in the fuck does Google have to do with being a patriotic American thingy? Its a fucking search bar. Its not like google is supposed to be the flag holder of America's patriotism.
My American spirit isn't ruined if Google doesn't show anything patriotic, but if this guy is taken seriously by anyone, that is something that would make me less patriotic about my stupid-ass country full of retarted pussies.
I bet next time we hear about this sesitive douchebag, he'll be ranting about how girl scouts aren't doing enough to promote the image of the Alpine Rescue Team.

So... nothing else is ever allowed happen on June 6? Every 6th of june you have to sit around and do nothing, apparantly.

"Last summer, on June 6th we went to..."
"Shut the hell up, you asshole, that's D-Day!"
"Uh... right. You know what, nevermind."

I'm not a Canadian, I'm German. Anyways, I'm saying Americans are primitive in that they foolishly pledge allegiance to a nationality, which is no better than doing so in a tribe. Tribalism is what causes a good portion of wars.
Sorry, your profile has a Canadian flag, so I went with that. Sorry. How are we foolishy pledging allegiance? Because it's something school children do? That nobody gives a shit about? Or what?
