Desert Eagle. I laugh at these idiots!
Used one when I was down in the states at a range.
Burned through a clip then asked for a gun with recoil that doesn't change your spread from two inches to six.

I think that this is a sad thing... but also a good thing.

Sad because gun enthusiasm is just one of those things that I don't get and that I think is kind of a waste of time. Thats my opinion though. It becomes even more sad when you have kids playing FPS games that then think they know about guns... its even worse than someone who already is obsessed.

The good thing from this is that if there ever is some dumbass kid like this who wants to go on a mass murder phase... Im pretty sure he'd be more of a danger to himself, not knowing what the hell he was doing

Just because AK47's, Glocks and revolvers are in every single FPS now-a-days, does not make them great weapons.

luckily im in America a country that isnt a pussy and lets it's citizens carry guns. What else would you use to protect your home and family a couch?
My fucking broadsword thats what. XP
You know I probably be more afraid of the guy with the broadsword than the gun.
Not sure why.

So, this is a real life example of hardcore butthurt.
Those gun-totin' looneys getting pissed off that a bunch of noobs are invading their territory.

I find that goddam hilarious.

So you understand me, you're against me? Look, I just don't want people to die. I don't want people to live in fear. That's it. I give up. Seems like everyone is hell bent on defending guns. Things that end peoples lives. But sure, I'm glad you live in the UK
I hear you, I too have a lot of problems with the state of gun violence in the USA... yet on the other hand I see the right of Americans to bear arms as a great example of why it is such a liberal country and don't want to have that ruined.

If you want to be a bit more informed on my opinion on this, check out the youtube channel of Ted Ferny:

http://www.youtube.com/user/kiwitedferny

He is a New Zealand Millionaire Gun Collector, also an ex-infantryman. He has a lot of pearls of wisdom on the nature of gun ownership, war, self-defence that I have been greatly inspired by.

I too am glad I live in the UK. But I still like guns, I dislike the idea that as a civilian the law thinks I can never be trusted with them.
okay, im a kiwi and ive never seen a real gun in my life. just why is it that people become so interested in guns? they kill people. and they are nothing but a tool to kill people. becoming interested in one is like becoming interested in an overly complicated hammer.
Well I didn't say NZ was overflowing with guns, Ted Ferny is a VERY rich man and was probably only granted a gun collector's licence on the grounds of his distinguished military service.

In regard to you being so perplexed about people's fascination with guns, answer me honestly here: Do you think swords are cool?

Like this:

or this:

Oh! But hac no! SWORDS WERE DESIGNED TO KILL!! My god, all those children who play legend of Zelda are just being groomed for fantasies of running amok with swords on a killing spree!

The Chronicles of Narnia should be banned for unacceptable level of SWORD VIOLENCE!

Of course that is a nonsense over-reaction, you're fighting demons, monsters and evil ninjas with the swords in those cases... though their sole purpose is still to kill. But this is all to illustrate my point that many people do over-react and use contradictory logic about guns that they don't apply to other weapons.

Face it, guns ARE cool, just like swords and there is nothing weird about that. Many people seek to make guns seem like a perverted fetish (though to many they are, equal numbers have a fetish for women's shoes!) when in most cases it is a shameful over-reaction.

Guns are also used to kill but in most video games you are killing zombies, nazis, terrorists, gangsters and aliens... all "bad people". (well maybe not aliens, they don't know any better).

I am interest in guns - and I think most other people - to facilitate our very reasonable hero fantasies, whether we are James Bond, Soap McTavish, Nathan Drake or even an anti-hero like Nico Bellic, guns are the tools for the job of saving the world. Do you think James Bond would have stopped Blofeld just "Chudo-Chopping" his way though the dozens of heavily armed henchmen?

But I'm not one of those people that thinks a gun will solve every problem, in many cases a gun is not the answer and to an extend I am proud that our police don't normally carry firearms (not sure about NZ on that, is it changing?). If you actually go to see Ted Ferny's Channel there are many videos that cover guns and knife fighting from a martial and then a civilian self defence perspective.

I believe what is mentioned in the former part of the article is just people trying to expand their knowledge based on things they see in video games. This is the sort of thing that turned my younger self in 2002 playing Age of Empires to now a History-Education Major in college.

This is exactly what video games should do.

However the latter Sniper excerpt IS a problem.

This seems pretty common, actually. The problem is that while games may spark an initial interest in firearms, people don't want to even bother learning about real ones.

Although, there are occasionally those whose interest is sparked by it and they then pursue shooting as a hobby, as I did. I did pursue my interest, though, and now I go to the range with my dad very regularly.

Or if they do want to learn about real ones, they go onto Wikipedia. Which is always wrong.

Always.

The upside is, video games might make you think you know how guns work, but real guns are nothing like COD guns.

You don't know about the parabolic flight paths of rifle rounds, how to zero a rifle, how to frame a sight picture, how to gauge the difference between point of aim and point of impact, the proper way to grip a pistol to ensure action cycling and control recoil, or even how to TAKE OFF THE SAFETY. You may have a half assed guess about how to reload some of the weapons, but I've even seen those animations fucked up, and they don't usually show you where the relevant controls are.

So the upside is a gamer loony who can't tell fantasy from reality probably can't even make the gun go, much less hit anything. This is not a serious problem, anymore than people thinking that Top Gun is how real fighter combat works, because the only people affected by it are retards and the proprietors of gun service establishments who are very used to dealing with retards, I assure you.

I don't know about the shops where you live, but I live near two Cabela's stores that sell the FN Five-Seven, as well as Colt ARs, Bushmasters (including the ACR by special order), and I have even seen, in a special locked case, an F2000. In my state, Cabela's is an FFL dealer.
I live in the UK, automatic hand guns are very illegal in the UK, even if the shop had one, they wouldn't show it to you. In fact, aside from break shotguns and full size, bolt action rifles you aren't seeing anything.

It's just amazing how many people wandering in expecting to just be able to buy Counter Strike armoury over the... counter.

Well the same people think Desert Eagles are "good weapons".

I laugh.
What are you on about? You mean I can't go around in real life spraying dual wielded Desert Eagles?
What about shotguns? Can I dual wield shotguns? [/sarcasm]

The fact of the matter is these people are morons. They would in no way pass any sort of background check. And if they did, natural selection would result in a better gene pool anyway.

Someone who cannot tell the difference between a game and reality needs to have his head checked out. I mean, you don't have people running around trying to "show you mah pokemons", do you? No. Because people realize that isn't realistic at all.
