OOC: Good to see we're back in business, and welcome to all the new members. Will be away for a while, so no need to wait for me to do something

Lieutenant Quintus Arctus

A voice from the ships com interrupted the conversation, announcing that they would be going to liberate the colony of Ronokis from an unknown force. "Well, now we know where we're going. All that remains is to take a group of unknown allies into battle with an unknown enemy. Looks like you were right about needing to get to the range, which I think is just two floors down."

He then stood, and began to make his way to the range.

Luna checked her scope and assault rifle one more time. "Mee, you up for a shooting challenge?"

Mee rubbed her head. "Give me a minute, whatever that strawberry thing was didn't agree with me and wrecked my systems." The sangheili responded.

Luna smirked, she switched the assault rifle to automatic and the two of them were soon down at the range. They noticed some people already there, a decent number actually and waited for their turns at the range.
"Twelve shots." Luna said.

"four to a clip." Mee responded.

"Switch lanes two thirds the way through?" Luna asked.

"Agreed." Mee said back to her.

All the two of them were doing was waiting now.

as Sarah wait for her turn at the range took her helmet off, and looked around a little, and saw lots of Marines, a few 'Covenant' and lots of the 'Council Races'.

when her turn finally did come up she set her helmet down, as she wasn't going to rely on her suits systems to aid her aim,and set the targets for random and fast moving and set out three clips for her rifle and three for her side arm, and started with her side arm.

the first clip was, naturally not her best, on a real flesh and blood target sure, would have been all kill shots, most things tend to not get back up when shot in the neck with a magnum but that wasn't the point of target shooting. by the time she was on her last clip she had 're sighted' her self back in and was largely trying to improve, and while she'd plateaued she done what she can to do, and got out of the way for the next person in line.

for the time being she decided to find a spot to people watch

Everett watched from the sidelines as UNSC Marines, Covenant Troops, and the various members from the Council Races that were sent as part of a diplomatic envoy, but also to study this new ship all took shots at the shooting range. They all showed various levels of skill, some were average, and quite a few were impressive. After Sarah had finished shooting, he took up the empty space she left, and began working on his own skills.

To ensure that he gave himself a challenge of varying skill, Everett had half of his practice was spent with the helmet on, and the other half without. He then made the targets come out with random speed and placement, as you never know when and where the enemy will strike, regardless of what universe your in.

With each shot he took, the target went down fairly quickly, and in some cases even managed to kill two with a single shot. Suffice to say, many of those that were watching, seemed to be rather impressed with his skill. Everett quickly switched up to his sniper rifle, and had the targets at long range. After some time, he soon stepped back from the range, putting on his helmet in the process, and made his way over to Spartan Sarah.

"It certainly is good to get some target practice in before a mission, helps keep everything working. You did well yourself Spartan. Glad your on our side Ma'am."

she smiled "thank you Sargent, but it was a little sub par for a Spartan i think, I'll give it another go once the crowd dies down" she said making room for him "but you did pretty good your self, what ever team you'll be on will be in good hands"

"so, what do you think of these 'Council Races so far?" she ask

"Thank you Sergeant, but it was a little sub par for a Spartan I think, I'll give it another go once the crowd dies down." The Spartan Sarah said, making room for Everett next to her. He soon sat down next to her. "But you did pretty good your self, what ever team you'll be on will be in good hands." She then added. Everett could only but smile underneath his helmet as he sat down.

"So, what do you think of these 'Council Races' so far?" she ask

"Much obliged Ma'am, its compliments like that tells me I'm doing my job right. As for these Council Races, whilst they seem well mannered and good natured; I'll reserve judgement until this mission on Ronokis is over, can't be too careful." Everett replied with, as he checked over his side arm, replacing the training magazine for a live one.

Sarah nodded "true" as she watch one of the tall, spiky headed ones ((a Turian btw)) shooting "still, least they didn't just start shooting, for basically no good reason. so i already like them more then the Covenant"

"Still, least they didn't just start shooting, for basically no good reason. So I already like them more then the Covenant." Spartan Sarah remarked, watching a spiky headed member of the Council Races begin firing practice.

"Yeah, they got that going for them. At least these Council Races at least tried making first contact with us. I mean, when the Covenant first spotted us, their Prophets discovered that Humanity were the Reclaimers for Forerunner artifacts, so in an attempt to keep their religion as how they perceived it, declared open war." Everett said in agreement, sitting back and watching the training unfold.

"And of course, it all started on Harvest. Ever get any action in the war yourself Ma'am?" He then asked.

JASTIS-015

Just as Jastis was going to leave, Nassa turned and got a message that the new driver was operational. ?Alright, we shall begin heading to the Mass Relay soon, just double check all of its functions. We don?t want anything to go wrong.?

On the screen the Engineer nodded its head and then it turned off. ?Would it be possible for one of you to stick around up here to help with our first time going through? Marsiani will also be helping us as she got data but never can be too sure.? She asked the Geth.

Jastis left the room though and headed back down to the armory hoping he hadn?t taken too long. When he arrived at the armory there was no one there but a lone marine. ?Marine, do you know where everyone went??

?Sir, they went down to the firing range. They went down with one of those new aliens, the Asari if I believe.? The marine told him as he saluted.

?Thanks.? Jastis spoke as he saluted and left the room. Originally he was going to go down there but decided against it since the Asari could probably explain things a lot better than he could about the various races. Instead he went to the advanced combat deck where he stepped into a very blank looking room. It housed its own Dumb AI.

?AI, simulate exercise 05-262.? In seconds the room changed from being in a room to being in a lush jungle. Then suddenly other Spartan?s began to appear firing at him. Since the races they would most likely being facing are humanoid he thought it would be best to fight simulated Spartans rather than simulated Elites. It was an exercise only Spartans were allowed to do, or if there was at least multiple Spartans in the group.

The Spartans dove into cover and thus he did to, but using his active camouflage he stepped from out of cover but he knew they would be able to see him using their VSIR 4.0, so he acted quickly. So he ran up to one of the Spartans and stabbed his knife into their head. Even though it was fake, it looked so real it somewhat disgusted himself to be fighting a Spartan. Pulling the knife out he hopped over cover and then hugged the chest-high wall. The VR Spartans began to move around and closing in on his position.

Aiming out of cover he shot his BR at one of them downing their shields but it didn?t kill them so he ducked back under his cover. Knowing their shield would come back up soon he threw a grenade at their position but the VR Spartan threw it back at him so he shot it midair and it exploded hitting the Spartan and killing them. Even if they were Spartans they were still just VR and not as tough as the real thing or as smart.

Two more remained; one was with a Sniper on a high ridge while the other was lurking around. The sniper would easily get a headshot if he ran out; he needed to play this smart. He turned on his VSIR and saw the location of the other Spartan which was nearing close. When the Spartan got close enough he used it, throwing down a bubble shield it encompassed him and the VR Spartan. Using this he was able to kill the Spartan by taking his knife and slicing him in the throat while the Sniper could do nothing but watch. Taking out his M363 he aimed at the Sniper and shot just as the bubble shield ran out. When it made contact he ducked and exploded the magnetic explosive, it didn?t kill the Spartan but it did damage and destroy a bit of his cover.

Using this he took out his MA5D and ran up to the spot and climbed up, just as the VR Spartan was getting up, Jastis kicked him back down and had his foot on the VR?s neck. Then proceeded to shoot him down with the MA5D. When the VR Spartan vanished the simulation was over. He was sweating a bit under his helmet so he took it off. Most people had trouble with that simulation their first time, but he had run it dozens of times it was all instinct rather than reaction. He left the VR room as he put his helmet back on and now decided to go down to the firing range.

Sarah's tone grew bitter "and yet, we just let them on board like nothing happened" she started but stopped her self visibly upset by it her helmet still off and in her lap, and taking a few cleansing breaths, pushing it out of her mind for now.

"Ever get any action in the war yourself Ma'am?"
Sarah smirked, then laughed "yeah" holding up her index finger "1 mission, then, it was over" she said leaning back and remembering that instead "it wasn't anything major, search and destroy a 'loyalist' base" she moved slightly "got a souvenir though" she said pulling out her Plasma Sword "so I'm still basically a 'raw recruit', i find that rather annoying actually"

Jastis walked in to find the Asari and Mee up.

The two loaded one and laid out two more clips on the table. They set up the course. 12 tagets, random sequence, same for each of the ranges they were using.

The first four targets popped up.

Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang. Eight shots rang out in unison, sounding like four. Every one of them hit.

There was a click and the two of them swapped out mags.

The targets were harder to hit, a bit further away and more spread out.

Bang, two hits on the top targets. Bang, two hits on the bottom left targets. Bang. two hits on the bottom right targets. Ba-Bang. Two hits on the center target, luna lagging behind slightly.

They each grabbed the last mag and rolled into the other's lane. Luna stood up loaded and cranked out four shots, hitting each target. Mee stood up and hit the four targets, each one dead center. Luna's were more loose, but each still a kill.

"Hmm... Faster but a bit less refined. Tie?" Mee asked Luna.

"Good enough for me. Just wanted to have fun anyway." Luna said.

"1 mission, then, it was over." Spartan Sarah replied holding up her index finger, then leaning back, obviously thinking on what had happened.

"It wasn't anything major, search and destroy a 'Loyalist' base." She then moved slightly, pulling something out. "Got a souvenir though." The item turned out to be a Plasma Sword. Everett could only but whistle at the weapon in front of him. "So I'm still basically a 'raw recruit', I find that rather annoying actually." Sarah finished, a mixture of anger and sadness in her voice.

"Ouch, one mission, and then everything ended. Tough break Ma'am, still what little action you did see, certainly netted you nice piece of equipment to remember it by. Certainly don't see many of those outside of Covenant hands. Think once on a mission during the Battle of Earth, I managed to wield one of those after knocking it out of a Elites hands with my knives. Unfortunately lost it during a skirmish with some Brutes, never was able to get another one after that. Then again, I've always been more of a Sharpshooter anyway, but it pays to expand on your combat skills." Everett said, thinking back on some past missions he had been on, which lead him to something else.

"In any case, I think both the Citadel Races, and whoever is attacking the colony of Ronokis, might get a bit of a shock once the SOEIV's (Single Occupant Exoatmospheric Insertion Vehicle) begin to fall, that is if we use them for this first mission." Everett remarked, sounding a little excited.

Sarah smiled "yeah, its a good piece of gear that's for sure, takes some getting used to though, but worth it in the end"

Sarah giggled "yeah, they're in for a rude awakening if we'll be using those" she paused a second "kind hope we do to, always enjoyed the ride in those, i find them oddly calming as well"

Spartan Sarah giggled in response to Everett's excitement about the SOEIV, he was beginning to like this one. Past encounters he's had with Spartans have usually been the gruff silent types, not very talkative, and primarily focused on the mission. Underneath his helmet, you would see a rather cheerful man at the moment.

"Yeah, they're in for a rude awakening if we be using those-" She then paused for a second, "Kind hope we do to, always enjoyed the ride in those, I find them oddly calming as well." Everett chuckled as well, enjoying the moment.

"Yeah, the sudden rush of adrenaline as your fired out, heading towards the ground like a rocket certainly is satisfying. Despite the number of times I've been in them, there always is that excitement there waiting. You know what Ma'am, I think I'm going to enjoy working with you during the Broken Destiny's time here in this universe."

There was slight smile under his face but it was with mixed emotion. ?Talking about the war are we?? He spoke to Sarah and an ODST who he believed was Everett.

"Talking about the war are we?"

Sarah looked up to see Jastis "not much to tell there in my case Sir" she said "mostly idle conversation on 'people watching'" she said as the council alien they'd been watching finished up "these new ali.. Council Races" she corrected "they're pretty good"

?We will have to see when we actually get into combat. Though I have only really sat down and talked with a group of Quarian?s and one Turian. So I can?t judge them all yet.? He said as he sat down. ?We should probably run a VR training mission or two before we go. When I helped train some of the earlier Spartan IV?s, they loved the thing. Wonder if they have anything like that here.?

Sarah nodded in agreement "that was already on my to do list Sir, just wanted to knock the frost off, and see the Citadel Races"

"Though I have only really sat down and talked with a group of Quarian's and one Turian
"oh? any of those here?" she asked "only one i've talked to as an Asari? i think is what she called her self, named Luna"

Jastis shrugged. ?I believe the same Turian may actually be on board, as for any Quarian?s, not that I have seen.?

"We should probably run a VR training mission or two before we go. When I helped train some of the earlier Spartan IV's, they loved the thing. Wonder if they have anything like that here." Spartan Jastis suggested, with which Sarah nodded in response.

"That was already on my to do list Sir, just wanted to knock the frost off, and see the Citadel Races." It was then Everett's turn to speak up.

"Alright then, I'll leave you two to it then Sir and Ma'am. No doubt the VR exercises that Spartans are trained in, are out of an ODST like me's league in terms of difficulty. I'll keep on eye out on things down here, just in case someone causes any trouble. If you two need something, I'll have my communications system on." Everett said in a calm tone.
