"Really now Sarah, guess that explains why you have so much spirit about you, you just need a means to release the energy. I'd be willing to assist in any sort of manner, that is if you wanted me to." Everett said in a kind hearted manner.

" nah, i think they just ran out of sticks to wedge up a Spartans ass, i mean, you've seem how up tight they are" Sarah started then paused a moment like she just remembered something "well for the most part, i met a few during augmentation that still remembered that we're still basically human, not robots" she said, leaning back a bit "shame none of them are on the BD with us, you guys would like em" Sarah sighed, missing her old training buddy's a bit

"anyway, thanks for the offer Ev but I'm not sleeping with anyone, mostly due to my lack of desire to have to deal with the side effects, most the one called 'kids'" she said and gave Everett a kiss on the cheek, then flipped around so she was facing the LT from Citadel and was about to invite him over when her pocket made a 'do do dodo do do' sound, she sat back and pulled a holo pad out of her pocket, it was a text only message from Jackson, and Sarah's face lit up " gentlemen, that was my 'tailor' my new outfit is ready, so I'm going to go pick up my new 'Black Dress'" she said rocking back and off the couch.

she gave Murphy and Everett another kiss goodbye and headed down to get her armor

As he watched Sarah disappear quickly down the hall, something seemed to shift in Murphy. Though a joke, the words had stuck.

"A girl might think you're interested in her."

Well maybe he was.

He turned back to Kenneth, who had seemed to become lighter as the antics progressed. He was watching Murphy with a knowing look. Murphy simply responded by shrugging sheepishly.

In that moment Murphy realized that the extra dog tag on Kenneth's chain wasn't from a fallen friend as he had first assumed at the bar, it was from a fallen lover.

"Hey LT" he said, sitting down beside Kenneth, "I've got a project I could use some advice on. Come with me to engineering and I'll show you."

His expression and tone showed the real meaning of his words. I would like to speak with you in private, sir.

Kenneth shrugged, seeing that he had nothing better to do. Though he understood Murphy's tone and expression, he kept the antic up just to keep Everett from knowing any better.

"Alright then, I'm no engineer just so you know."

Murphy led Kenneth down the corridor to the Engineering bay, his flip-flops and PT attire clashing loudly with the uniforms of crew members passing by. No one batted an eye, SF operators were considered a little weird and their often strange behavior was generally overlooked.

When they reached engineering Murphy scanned his CAC card and they entered. He made a beeline to a giant lump covered in netting and surrounded with signs warning that tampering with the material would result in court marshal. Murphy pulled the netting off to reveal a Banshee with a hook on the bottom.

"We're trying to use them as dropships for vehicles. The radar signature is a lot smaller than a Pelican, plus we they only require one crew member over two." He informed the Lieutenant. "We already have modified versions where we've attached running boards on the side and we use those for rapid insertions and extracts."

He took a step back and looked at Kenneth.

"I am, at this point, obligated to inform you that any methods that are employed by ONI operators are completely OPSEC, and should you reveal the information to any person outside of the Office of Naval Intelligence, you will be court-marshaled and then promptly executed." Murphy's expression turned back to his typical smile. "I should also tell you that you'd probably better start practicing with us, jumping off the runner can get tricky."

His attention turned back to the Banshee.

"The problem we have here, sir, is getting enough power to actually hook a hog and carry it."

Kenneth nodded in response. A quick drop into enemy lines with any mobile weapons platform, whether it a tank or some light armor is always helpful in blitzkrieg situations.

"Seems fair enough to me." Kenneth said, seeing that he really handed much to say. This foreign Earth/Parallel Universe tech certainly have their advantages. But then again, so does ours.

"The problem we have here, sir, is getting enough power to actually hook a hog and carry it."

"Then the entire premise of this rapid deployment of armor seems rather moot, isn't it? If you can't even get the machine to transport the things to work then why bother doing it in the first place."

Kenneth regarded the Banshee, as well as their problems.

"Then the entire premise of this rapid deployment of armor seems rather moot, isn't it? If you can't even get the machine to transport the things to work then why bother doing it in the first place."

"The issue, sir, is the radar signature. We have to drop out of radar range in order to not get shot up, then it just gets messy. The only thing I can think is to add another power cell to it."

He leaned back away from the Banshee and looked across the long, empty room.

"I'm fucked, right? We're headed into contact and here I am flirting with some chick I barely even know." He looked over at Kenneth. "How'd you do it, LT?"

JASTIS-015

The Spartan took the Drell?s hands and clamed on a restrainer. Marines stood at the side and one ahead while the Spartan walked with his gun at the Drell; he wasn?t going to risk anything. They followed through to the Hanger. Once they entered he could see his ship, it was different from the rest but as they got closer to it a deck worker ran up to him.

?Spartan-015, plan has changed, you?re to go on the Pelican, and another will drive his ship so that the prisoner doesn?t do anything funny on his own.?

Jastis nodded, ?Fair enough.? The deck worker pointed to the pelican and the Spartan and Marines followed to it.

We need to hurry.

They entered the pelican and they sat the Drell down and buckled him in. One Marine sat next to him, and the two others sat across with hands on their weapons. Jastis went up to the pilot who signaled him that it was all good and he headed back. Unlike the others he didn?t sit but stood with his left arm gripping a handle bar above.

The Pelican shortly closed and moved out of the ship, on his HUD he could see that Drell ship left shortly after. It would take ten or so minutes to arrive, so they just sat in silence as did the Drell. Up front the pilot got hailed by the Citadel and they moved into the right dock. First the pelican landed and then the Drell ship next. The door opened and they moved, they got the Drell up and formed the same formation as before.

C-Sec men were waiting for them to make the exchange. ?Spartan,? a Turian C-Sec officer stated.

Jastis simply nodded and the Marine ahead of him moved out of the way, Jastis then gently pushed the Drell ahead towards the Officers which then took him into custody. The Marine who was in the Drell ship walked up and saluted before saying, ?Everything of his in this box and his ship and such is there.?

He handed the box to the C-Sex Officer who nodded, ?Thank you. We shall take things from here. You may go now.?

Jastis nodded and the Marines formed back up and headed back into the Pelican. Once In the Pilot got the heads up and they left. Ten minutes again and they were back into the Broken Destiny, he alerted Nassa over the COMs and she was pleased with how it went.

Captain Nassa

?I think we?re ready. Let?s head to the relay.? The ship had been ready and began to move, it was a large but fast ship. It headed to the relay, Xavier, the Geth, directed the Captain and they followed his directions. Within seconds the ship glowed blue from a beam of energy that shot out from the Relay and then shot forward, they were only able to see the lights passing by them until they entered normal space already in just seconds. Now they were near another relay.

They were now in the Hanzia Cluster, but the planet Ronokis was in the Dazibar System just by. Immediately they active FTL, only told those who they needed to. When they entered it, the ship entered a dark abyss for only twenty second until they were in the same system as Ronokis but then stopped. Nassa loved how the new Forerunner FTLs co-developed by the Huragok, there was no more jut forward when they entered FTL.

Then it was time to activate their stealth systems which similar to the ONI Stealth Ships, made an actual cloaking system with bubbled over the ship hiding its heat emissions and its physical look. Slowly they would approach the planet to give time for the teams to get set.

STORM-178

The storage container was below freezing, the cover of the cyro pod was frosted over as the sudden noise pierced the silence in the container. As spartan-178 or Storm woke up with a yawn, feeling his empty stomach and thirst. Immediately the green armored spartan tried to get up but his head bounced off the cover with a clear thump.

Groaning for a second Storm managed to push the cover right open."Ehhh...what the hell?" Storm said as he stepped out into the dark container. A click from the suit and the in-built helmet flash light lit up the medium sized container, revealing nothing except the pod."Okay...that seems legit. I jumped in the pod in a science lab and the next thing I see is a damn metal room...feeling hungry too." Storm moaned as he manage to check his suit systems and that his favorite knife which were all good.

Nodding to himself Storm opened the container door slowly, revealing the cooler storage bay."Where...am I?" Storm said as the last memories flashed before him. The argument with his commander about his new position and location. Storm has always hated moving to new locations and introducing himself to his squad-mates.

With the latest memories fresh Storm staggered back onto the side of the crate. The memories of his youth came back flashing and at a horrible yet convenient time. The first thing Storm can remember is the officer telling him that his parents have gone M.I.A or most likely in war and not a single tear came from him, they were never around in Storm's life.

The next batch of memories came in were the ones about the Orphanage. The kids bullied him and told him his parents were dead. Not believing them at all, Storm got angry and beat the bullies up. After that they never did it again, but the same officer heard about this and asked Storm if he would like to join the UNSC but as the next batch of spartan.

The years after that were hard on Storm. The training, the lectures, the escapes from training and especially the orders from his superiors trained Storm into the Spartan he is today. This also made his personality, because he disobeyed orders to help the little, didn't wake up early (Which led to punishment) and cracked many bad jokes in front of the commander general.

After that, each squad passed Storm around like a good but dysfunctional rifle. Sure, everyone liked him, but the superior officers hated him for his lack of discipline. THis of course led to many friends and enemies but more importantly his new assignment...this assignment.

Straightening himself up, Storm began to find some other people and safety.

"I'm not exactly the engineer major here Staff Sergeant. If that's what you believe will fix the problem, then by all means." Kenneth replied

"I'm fucked, right? We're headed into contact and here I am flirting with some chick I barely even know." He looked over at Kenneth. "How'd you do it, LT?"

Kenneth blinked twice, frowning his lip to one side. This was unexpected. Keeping his air of cool, he said.

"I don't see anything wrong with flirting, so long as it doesn't affect your combat abilities. Trust is what's needed within a group, getting to know one another."

Sarah was still in the armory with Jackson and a Geth, who was going by Aden during the both jumps.

Aden, as it turns out, was the reason her armor was done so soon.

"well as you can see its done" Jackson said as he picked up Sarah's Energy Sword "Aden here decided to take it a step further though" clicking it on, the formerly blue blades now red "huh, didn't know you could change the color of those" she said as he flicked it off. "you ready to try it on?" Sarah nodded "of course"

a few minutes later Sarah's standing in her 'new' armor "you added the Energy sword to the Armors monitored weapon list?" Sarah said noticing a small 'charge' meter appear when she had her sword in hand "Affirmative" Aden said "Organic Jackson informed this unit that Spartan Sarah-127 is in possession of an energy weapon few have out side Covenant ranks, it is only logical that the energy weapon be added to your suits listings." "good call" Sarah said as she looked the armor it self over.

it was just how she envisioned it, white shoulder armor, with her family crest, the dragon tattoo she has, on her right shoulder, and the Spartan emblem on the left, a red visor, with the rest black "looks great you guys, just like how i was envisioning." she said as she pulled the helmet off and recollected her weapons

"i should get going though, if we jumped, we must be where we need to be, or about there" Sarah said, tucking her helmet under her arm "good luck, stay safe" Jackson said as she left

Everett's cheeks blushed a little both times when Sarah kissed him, although no one would've noticed. A device on Sarah's person made a sound, which felt familiar for some reason.

"Gentlemen, that was my 'tailor' my new outfit is ready, so I'm going to go pick up my new 'Black Dress'." Sarah said as she rocked herself back and off the couch. After a quick goodbye, she left the room. The last couple of words confused Everett briefly.

'What did she mean by "Black Dress" ? Oh right, she must of had her armour repainted, reminds me when I had the white sections on my Sharpshooter armour done a couple of years back.' He thought to himself, as Murphy and Kenneth soon left the room, heading towards the engineering section. Whilst all this talk was going on, the TV had finished playing the baseball game, and had gone into sleep mode.

Everett decided that it was time to leave. After making sure everything was switched off, he left the recreation room.

Murphy regarded Kenneth's words, a rare serious moment.

"Well, it's never stopped me from shooting straight and hitting my target. I agree on the trust. That's something we're still working on, but getting better about."

There was a buzzing in Murphy's pocket, and he pulled out his communicator.

"Report to Briefing Room A-322." It read in friendly blue letters.

Murphy put the communicator back into his pocket and looked at Kenneth.

"Well, lieutenant, I have to go and actually do my job for once." He started to walk away, then turned back. "You find your way back alright?"

"Definitely." Kenneth nodded as he noticed Murphy take out a communicator of sorts.

"I can find my way. Do not worry about that Staff Sergeant. Be on your way then." Kenneth said as he exited started to walk towards the exit as well.

Several hours of studying maps, debating with officers, and going over old AAR's wasn't a super-happy-fun-time in Murphy's opinion, but it was his job. But finally, they had an OPPLAN. A Captain in the room turned his communicator to a secure channel and messaged Captain Nassa that the attack plan had been set.

Now it was the good old military tradition of hurry up and wait.

Captain Nassa
She headed down to Briefing Room A-322, there was already some there but not everyone. Nassa walked next to the holo-table and turned it on. A 3D map of the area given to them by the Citadel formed on the table and then sent a message over the Intercom, ?Everyone who is taking part in the mission report to Briefing Room A-322.? Soon after everyone arrived and gathered in, and then she called for a brief overview of the mission.

?Everyone, this is the city of Haluis. As you can see it is on a large hill with steep rocks blocking off any strike from the South. Recently rain has been striking the lands so it?s going to be misty, so vision will be dimmed. Not going to lie, this mission is a bit blind. We?re going in to eliminate the insurgents, and rescue the hostages they have taken and look for any survivors if any. That will be the secondary objective.

The leader is estimated to be in the central compound where the Mayor and hostages is said to be located. We don?t know what their arsenal is looking like, only small bits that state that they?re heavily armed so caution is needed. Now Staff Sergeant Murphy will go into further details, I will say to address any personal concerns.?

Kenneth got himself suited back up during the time he was away from everybody. Nodding with satisfaction he exited the armory with his equipment back on.

He was still rooming around the Broken Destiny, keeping his distance from most of everybody. But he did enjoy the company of Sarah, Murphy and Everett. A sliver, but still.

"Everyone who is taking part in the mission report to Briefing Room A-322." someone rang over the intercomm.

Well, back to work then. Kenneth mused, eventually finding his way to the Briefing Room. Finally settled in, he focused his attention to the details.

Sarah had been sitting and waiting for the call over the intercom, and wasted no time in getting to Briefing Room A-322, Luna and Mee had entered a moment or so behind Sarah.

as Sarah entered she saluted Captain Nassa and took up a spot by the holo-table, her Helm tucked under her arm as she listened to the mission briefing.

Mee started studying the topography of the area with Luna, looking for a pair of good sniping positions

"Everyone who is taking part in the mission report to Briefing Room A-322." Captain Nassa said over the intercom, the message being transmitted throughout the entire ship. Everett had been in his quarters when it was announced, so there was easy access to his equipment. He quickly suited up figuring that they might not have enough time to do so afterwards, and headed towards the meeting room.

Everett listened to the briefing that Nassa gave, listing the weather conditions of Haluis; whilst the misty weather might making accurate sharpshooting a little more difficult, he was confident that he could compensate. He also remembered that he'd be helping out the sharpshooter from Lieutenant Crown's squad in his first taste of actual combat. This would be an interesting experience for all who came. After a brief period of thought, he began looking over the lay of the land, trying to find a decent place where he could set up shop and get to work providing sniper support.

"So Murphy, where is going to be our point of entry?" He asked, hoping it might provide him with some ideas.

The Lieutenant had come, along with her squad, and wouldn't you know it? The damned flashlight-bots were still on board. They still set her on edge, and she still didn't know why.

"So Murphy, where is going to be our point of entry?"

"Well, given what the Captain has given us, one of our points of entry can be dropping a team that comes from the North and assaults the place at the same moment we do high-orbit drops, that way we surprise them, they come running for the first team, who should have fire support, either from snipers, Pelicans, Hornets, or whatever, followed by the drops, that way they're forced to fight on two fronts, chances are we get them without too many inuries. Meanwhile, a third team is sent from the South to infiltrate and incapacitate their leader, also freeing the hostages. Couple that with the fact that we should be close to the center of the compound by that time and we can take it without too much fuss."

The Geth had finished installing the software required to run the GARDIAN laser system. There was nothing more that could be done until the hardware was installed, and that would take more time. Some of the more superfluous system programs had been moved to less intrusive files, but the GARDIAN was still able to run at full capacity with little problems. Of course, that was only in simulations and coding, there wasn't anything that could be done with anymore than a 70%(rounded down of course to account for miscalculation) degree of certainty.

Murphy was about to speak when Lt. Crown spoke up.

""Well, given what the Captain has given us, one of our points of entry can be dropping a team that comes from the North and assaults the place at the same moment we do high-orbit drops, that way we surprise them, they come running for the first team, who should have fire support, either from snipers, Pelicans, Hornets, or whatever, followed by the drops, that way they're forced to fight on two fronts, chances are we get them without too many inuries. Meanwhile, a third team is sent from the South to infiltrate and incapacitate their leader, also freeing the hostages. Couple that with the fact that we should be close to the center of the compound by that time and we can take it without too much fuss."

A bit peeved, Murphy looked at Crown.

"Noted, Lieutenant. But we will not be entering via HOD on this mission, due to the nature of the operation."

He turned to the rest of the group.

"The brief, as prepped by ONI, is as follows:

Recon Team Romeo, comprised of Spartan Jastis and Sangheili Mee, will confirm the location of the precious cargo as a forward team, and will provide overwatch for the entire operation.

Once the target locations are confirmed, Teams Read and Blue will insert into the compound via modified banshees. For those of you who have not used this method of troop insert, they are banshees with runners attached to the outside, which you sit on. This allows total precision on troop insertion."

He brought up the holo so that showed detail.

"Red Team will be led by Lt. Crown. Your objective is to locate and rescue the governor and any surviving family. After you have the precious cargo, you will make your way to waypoint Bravo to await exfil.

Blue Team will be led by Spartan Sarah, and contain myself, and Biotic Luna. Blue's mission is locate and neutralize the rebel commander. After that objective is complete, Blue will maneuver to waypoint Bravo and provide security for Red Team.

Green Team will be led by Lt. Kenshi, and your objective is arguably the hardest. You will be driving warthogs into the target You and your squad will be dropped via Pelican on the shoreline, then drive to waypoint Bravo and exfil the teams."

Murphy knew the obvious question, "why not via Pelican?"

"The reason we're doing it this way is because we cannot land a Pelican in the main compound. Otherwise, we would."

The holo stopped moving as Murphy locked it in place. He hated spinning maps.

"OPFOR strength is believed to at least two divisions strong, but they are spread out across the city. Numbers inside the compound are unknown, but Romeo Team, that's your job to find out. They have good old-fashioned rifles, so prep your armor for that, you don't have to worry too much about plasma."

The map view switched to a clock counting down, as well as local and GMT times.

"The attack will take place at 0500 local, 1800 GMT. We will attack from the East, and use the sun as a natural blinder for the enemy."

Murphy turned back to Captain Nassa.

"All yours Captain."
