My biggest complaints:
*content snip*
-Everyone is making a big fuss about showing boobs. This has really disappointed me. I thought the mean average maturity in the world adult population was above that of an 8 year old, but I guess not. I would be disappointed if anyone made a fuss about showing genitals, but that at least is SLIGHTLY more understandable than being upset about breasts!
That's the thing about a medium evolving. It will be criticized for taking a non-traditional approach, or doing something provocative, as your above comment demonstrates. I think the way Heavy Rain goes about it, for the most part, is the right way to begin introducing nudity to games, by doing so in what is an acceptable, every day facet of life (striptease event not-withstanding). There is nothing overtly explicit about the nudity in this scene, it is something most females will do as part of a nightly routine, and as such, limits any effectiveness of arguments made about it "corrupting the children".

Is it just me, or do the faces seem vastly different from the video with the clown? They seem far more, well, real.
just to nitpick, it would be nice if the skin moved while madison rubbed her face. would of felt more realistic.
Tis true, but compared to how they looked in the other video, this is a vast improvement.

That video didn't give me the "uncanny valley" heebee-jeebies. This video, definitely. Although I'm not sure if it was the half-deadpan-half-photorealistic face or the looks-real-but-isn't-but-is-really-damn-close boobs body.

Just like in the graph. I'd probably prefer if she was less life-like simply because she's not life-like enough that I recognize her as fully human.
No, no you're not. The graphics look good, don't get me wrong, but they're really turning me off. It's impossible not to notice every little flaw in how the characters look and move.

It's funny that Indigo Prohpecy, a so-so looking PS2 game, is a lot more visually appealing to me than this.

It seemed to me like they were trying to be mature about the sexuality, by not making a big deal about it in game(no boob physics, the camera does not centre on them), which is undermined by the fact that they still used censorship.
Being mature about sexuality doesn't mean vaginas left and right. It's not an 80s comedy film with nerds and cheerleaders. Censorship is large black rectangles all over the place. Camera angles and cuts at the right moments are not immature. They wanted to show parts of it, but not all. Who cares? Just thank whatever metaphysical entity you want there are still people who don't treat the female body as boobs jiggling ahoy!

Why do you want it all, or nothing at all? Why so extreme? Why no middle-ground?

Oh, and for the not washing her hands crowd... the sink was there, it's the player that didn't do it, even though they most likely could have (it's how it worked in Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy).

This game looks to be made up entirely of quicktime and slowtime events... strange... I clearly don't understand the appeal.
That's pretty much what Indigo Prophecy was. The appeal of that game was the story. The QTEs were just a way to make it more involving. There's also the fact that you could make choices along the way which would impact the outcome, but that waned as most of them were utterly inconsequential in the end.

My tastes have evolved since then and I'm not in the mood for another game that's basically a movie. There are things developers can learn from cinema, no doubt about it, but games try way too hard to be movies as it is and I'd prefer to have the story in a different format.

With that said, I'm not going to judge the game until I've played it. The Uncanny Valley thing is creeping me out but I'll see if it's any easier to get past when I'm actually playing it.

But they went out of their way to censor. I don't think either of us will convince the other one way or another on this matter.
Me neither, so let's just leave it at that. :p I'm going to sleep anyway, it's way too late and I have to get up early tomorrow. Good night and thanks for the discussion!

Didn't Yahtzee say "If you use quick time events, make it a core element of gameplay [instead of just throwing it in there for the matter of having QTE"? So this should be about it, it's a game which features QTE as core gameplay element.
I think you're right. About what Yahtzee said, and that this game is using them in an acceptable fashion.

Lots of people will feel the need to bash this game, that's the growing pains of the medium evolving into a greater form. I think we'll see a lot more software like this, which means we'll also see a lot of games that will no longer feel the need to bog themselves down with drivelous cut scenes and will instead focus all of their efforts on fine tuned interactivity.

HOLY-

That... was... amazing. I feel like a really sad bastard when I say this, but that was better than most MOVIES.

I want a PS3 now.

No, but I don't think it will.

These people MADE Indigo Prophecy, I don't think they'll make the same mistakes twice.

This game looks really good
EDIT: Also I wonder what would happen if you just didn't put your clothes back on
I have to wonder if you are even given the choice. Most likely if you don't follow the QTE for that part, she will just stand there staring at her undies until you let her dress. Now during the fight scene...let's just say one might hope that she is a likeable character.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being banned from Australia, and I'm sure the American ESRB won't like it much either.
It's already been rated M by the ESRB. I don't see it getting rated in Oz and I doubt the devs will do an edited version. My guess is gamers in Australia will have to go bootleg or be out of luck.

Ehh....the more and more I see of this game, the less and less I like. Sometimes, leaving things to a mystery is better than letting everyone know exactly how everything works.

Am i the only one that is astounded that a scrawny little girl just beat 3 armed attackers?!?!?!
WTF?!?!?!?!

If it was one guy that would be a bit more understandable, but throw two more people into the mix and thats just sad on the robers part. I know humans can get really strong and witty when their in life or death experieces but come on, there is a drop off point.

Call me a cynic but it looks boring as all hell. Doing a quicktime event to wipe a towel up and down your legs is not in my opinion riveting gameplay. People say it sets the mood, but I have watched atmospheric films before and I have never seen eight minutes of a film's time devoted to personal hygiene (with the exception of the opening scene from A Scanner Darkly which only went for four minutes and was a lot more cool).

Ah, well, it was a simple misunderstanding, I suppose I saw "January 14" and assumed it was 2010, since we have had a surge of new members recently. My mistake, I apologize.

QTE - THE GAME

It's not a game, it's an interactive movie
Seriously, even old Snake would've facepalmed at this.

Now that I see how the gameplay works I'll just say that I kept waiting for her to hop on a flying toy horse and navigate a labyrinth of fiery walls.

...and is it just me or does she look like one of those Real Dolls? I will say, I liked the action/suspense music that kicked in, definitely gave the scene a better sense of fight-or-flight survival urgency.
