And that's the same vibe I'm getting from this walkthrough. If the developer wanted to give the player a reason or threat to run away from the zombies, I'd rather they'd put in somekind of "infection" bar, or something. Somekind of indicator that pops up whenever you fight zombies, so that the longer you fight with them the more the risk of infection increases.

This would give you more than enough reason to run away without taking away your ability to fight.
Well it's six one way, half-dozen the other, right? Either your fight time is limited because of fatigue or it's limited because of infection, it still serves the same gameplay purpose.

They really didn't look far for their ideas did they?

A workbench where you can make weapons like explosive knives and electric machetes
A special zombie that charges at you and another that explodes on you
I could go on...

And no offence, but that is not a good guy to choose for a commentary. All he did was say "and look it's dark"
That's pretty much how game development works. People take ideas and mechanics that work and build on them. The good developers (Blizzard) take the ideas that worked and expand refine and polish them. The mediocre developers (whoever made X Blades and every Chinese game studio) just make straight up clones. The bad ones just take them and screw them up more (whoever made Mind Jack).

It's good this game is coming out. Now Capcom and Valve have some competition and will hopefully put more effort into their Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising games.

We've meleed enemies in Left 4 Dead.

We've ran people over in GTA.

We've done all this stuff already.

Just hope this obvious ripoff is going to stand up on itself with something we haven't done yet.

I'm intrigued apart from one thing; First-person melee combat.

...Oh wait, it's even worse: First-person melee combat with a fatigue bar. *ugh*
This is, however, one of the few situations in which a fatigue bar makes sense. One of the key points in the "zombie vs. human" battle is that zombies never tire out. That means if you're being surrounded, you now have an in-game reason to run away. It's meant to be a zombie survival game, as opposed to zombie hunting.

It might be that true "survival"-type games aren't your cup of tea, but I'm just hoping to shed some light on why it's a good fit for this particular game.
That may be true, but that doesn't mean it's not still going to piss me off.

Dead Rising had something similar with deteriorating weapons. If they didn't include it, you'd just constantly be using the one-handed chainsaw and breeze through the game. But it was a constant nag to have your fighting ability simply break down mid-fight.

And that's the same vibe I'm getting from this walkthrough. If the developer wanted to give the player a reason or threat to run away from the zombies, I'd rather they'd put in somekind of "infection" bar, or something. I think the fatigue bar makes sense. I mean go outside and chop some wood. I have to take a break occasionally, and the wood isn't trying to kill me! :)

I agree this is borrowing quite a bit, but really, what game doesn't anymore? Most games are just implementing previously used elements, with maybe one new catchy element for "originality".

An open world first person zombie survival game? SOLD!!!
The stamina bar is a nice touch, gonna encourage a bit of tactical thinking which is always nice. Don't really see the need for quick travel though if you can get vehicle but whatever, doesn't mean I gotta use it.

A knife with C4 on it ... again, SOLD!!!

The one thing I don't like about this game is the way your character moves. To keep from making it seem like you're playing a gliding camera they made it so that every step you take makes your head bob a little, but that's even worse. It's annoying, and I feel like if I was to play this game for too long it would make me feel sick. Hopefully we'll be able to turn that off if we want.

I have to keep reminding myself I'm Australian, so as great as this game looks to be shaping up the chances I'll get the play it are slim.

Eh, not impressed. The NPCs were uncanny-valley residents and the physics engine seemed a bit weird (notice when he hits the first zombie with his car? Or when he threw his baseball-bat to make propane-tanks explode - however that fucking works - and the bat is right next to the tanks on the ground when he picks it up?)
Also..Why would ANYONE want to go melee-range and fight zombies? Not afraid of infection, are we?
According to another preview of the game, the four protagonists of the game happen to be immune to the virus, which is why they can can go toe to toe with the zombies. On top of that the developer even said that the reason you have to go melee is because there aren't many guns on the island to begin with, which makes sense to me logically and I can respect that. A small island community would have tough gun laws in place.

As for the the baseball bat making the tank explode, that one is a little weird, but according to mythbusters that shouldn't even work with a gun so I'm willing to forgive that. The weapon coming out completely intact doesn't make sense to me either though.

I do agree with you that the physics are a little wonky and that the character expression could use a little work.

This reminds me of borderlands for some reason. Too bad my computer can't run newer games.
I feel your pain...

..the only thing I can do right now is to pretend that I am playing this game in my bedroom and having a good time.

I wanted this game from the first time I saw the first trailer, even though it had no game play footage.
This just makes me want it even more now.

I dunno, to be honest, it just looked like someone took Fallout 3, Just Cause 2 and Dead Rising and shoved them into a blender. I mean, maybe that's not necessarily a BAD thing, but it doesn't exactly scream "originality" to me. I'm kinda disappointed, because the trailer they put up before this one really piqued my interest on an innovative level.

This game looks pretty decent, animations are a little iffy, but not too bothering. And as for the fatigue bar people keep complaining about, it's not like you can swim something for hours straight without getting a little sore, and factor in the impact on something, that would tire your arm even a little.
