Eh, this has me sorely disappointed.

From the moment you start walking I know there's something wrong. The bopping of the head doesn't match the stride you'd expect of a woman in high heels. For that matter, how is a woman in high heels managing to effortlessly walk, let alone run over uneven dirt and even loose sand?

Four years in development and this is the best they have to show? A watered down L4D/Dead Rising hybrid? And it shamelessly uses quite a few elements from both, but not enough to make it compelling. You have your item crafting in Dead Rising 2, you have the protagonists rising in confidence in Left 4 Dead 2, not to mention the suicide zombie looking a fair bit like a Smoker.

And the whole thing is just poorly animated, more than once I saw zombies standing up in a perfectly synchronised animation, not once did I encounter that in my dozens of hours in L4D and its sequel. Even on a flat surface the player character's legs clip into the floor and her dress just taunts how actual fabric and physics work. The attention to detail also doesn't live up to Valve's offering, burnt zombies don't get their skin charred and weapons don't get bloodied as you use them.

RPG elements in a zombie game make little sense to me too. How can there be a level 20 regular zombie vs. a level 5 one? They're both shambling animated corpses, why would one be four times tougher than the other? And they want us to target the fast zombies first over the slow ones? That would be neat if we could visually identify them without having to mouse over. The mere fact that we have to do this severely wrecks the immersion for me. You don't want to sit up and think "Hm, that zombie iiiis... let's see... level 25... and that one's... level 5", it's, yeah, simply, no. I'll take a cry of "Charger!" any day over this for knowing that I need to focus my fire on something.

So I am sorry but I can't really see anything to get excited about when I can play two to four games that do everything it tries to do better.

They really didn't look far for their ideas did they?

A workbench where you can make weapons like explosive knives and electric machetes
A special zombie that charges at you and another that explodes on you
I could go on...

And no offence, but that is not a good guy to choose for a commentary. All he did was say "and look it's dark"
To be fair, crafting isnt exactly unique to specific games. I get the vibe between l4d though like you say, then again its 2 examples where they are going for a different style. For example "normal" zombies, then faster runny zombies, a "tank" style of zombie thats actually more of a strong person than a mutated thing. And personally I love his style, its more natural rather than sitting there trying to sell us the game, hes actually having fun and playing it. "Aaaand off comes the head" classic lol

This is true of all RPG games. How does a lvl.1 fighter be rediculously more powerful than a lv.l100? In reality both will die if you fire a lighting bolt through them or fire an arrow at them. RPG and reality dont really go together. And this doesnt really give off a serious element anyway, its more Borderlands+L4D

...Fallout: Dead Rising?

Well, at least it's a game in which your character is a woman but that doesn't stop her from punching zombies. IN THE FACE.

Am I the only one who thinks the maori-looking survivors' skin color is a bit off? They don't look black or tanned, they look like they're made of wood.

Actually that's one of four survivors you can play as in the story mode (or the co-op campaign), so you can be a dude all the same. You'll look ridiculous then, instead of running through sand on high heels.

I came into this trailer expecting the game to be a simple Left 4 Dead ripoff, but I was amazed at what I saw.

This game looks like a combination of some of the best elements from different genres. I'm excited to see the final product.

This game seems to prove my ideas that origionallity is best made by combining unorigional stuff to make a unique thing. I like that it seems to rip off Dead Rising, a Bethesda game, and Left 4 Dead...at the same time. (also the first bit with the gun..it looked like Black Ops)

I'm certainly intrigued by it going for an emphasis on melee combat, a nice change of pace from the first person shooters out there.

Regardless, it looks a bit...awkward to control for lack of a better word. Maybe I'll adjust or maybe I'm totally wrong but I can see myself getting smacked in the back by a zombie and by the time I've turned around to take a swing I've been clonked again.

Ah well. Game definitely looks interesting. I'll keep it on my radar for the time being.

2 things.
1. I lol'd when the player took the truck from that ladies house and drove off while the zombies no doubt ate her.
2. I hope in the North American version they put the steering wheel on the other side of the car, it just seems so odd in that position.

In a way I am disappointed (Hold your horses, give me a second to explain) as from the first trailer I was thinking, "Hell ya, a zombie game that is actually about survival... not trying to fight the zombies but barricading a place, hiding out and praying to god that someone will come rescue me!"

Now of course the game isn't that, but though I am disappointed that it doesn't fit a specific niche of mine, being the hardcore survival realism with zombies (a bit of an odd combination) but the game does look fantastic, of all the ways they could have messed this up I don't seem to see anything present. It is kind of wierd that you would be able to find C4 and a remote detonator switch when you can't find many weapons, and the firearm they did show off was an AK-47. I mean really, a Kalashnikov? Ya they are the single most widely mass produced assault rifle in history, but I was expecting a Sig Sauer, or Glock 18, or Beretta something I may find in an abandoned police car/station/body not an AK-47.

Its nit picky of me, but I have this horrible feeling that since I like being a good guy that I will be in for a world of trouble, I will be escorting and saving alot of people and I bet there will be more then one time I will about rage in frustration.

Who knows though, the game is yet to be released and we only have the gameplay snippets they decided to show us, we don't even know how morality works in this game if it even exists. I am actually looking forward to this though and can't wait to play it.

TL;DR

Not my original thought, weapons seem kind of odd, can;t say much until played, will buy and play!

Eh I don't know if I'd like this game exactly; I'm still hunting for a game that covers the emotional aspects of the zombie apocolypse. Things like the fact you are killing possibly hundreds of people who were just like you; what that would do to a person. Things like knowing that you're likely not going to make it out of there; a helplessness of the protagonist.

This game looks interesting, don't get me wrong, but it won't be the kind of interesting that I'm looking for in a zombie game.

L4D2 and Dead Rising make great use of melee weapons, stop overthinking it.

Everyone is afraid of infection, story wise, but the big advantages zombies have are numbers, and one small, hard to hit effective target on their bodies. Guns run out of ammo, quickly if you keep missing said effective target, as is very possible in high pressure situations. Melée weapons never run out of ammo, can be very durable if you choose the right one, and make that all important headshot easier.

I watched most of the trailer, and it looks amazing. Any ideas when it may be coming out?
