Ugh, this really does drag the series down in terms of respectability...
I'm not sure if the British version of the game had extra content in it or anything like that but I'm pretty certain that all the God of War games have had boobs, sex and women moaning off camera in the form of a quick time event (usually with red orbs as a reward for succeeding).

Seeing as this is something that's always been there, how exactly does this degrade the quality of the series? (the only real difference is now the graphics are better than they were on the PS2, nipples now look like nipples).

Why the hell is everyone freaking out about a sex scene... A: there was one in the first one B: there was one in the second one C: it's a series literally based around MURDERING everything, how did the story have any respectability. It's the god damned action is what makes the game amazing, and from playing the demo, i think i got more horny ripping off the head of *will not say* than the video itself... although i did say to myself that i would warn whoever is in the room if i happened to get to that spot with people in attendance.

o and the reason why i was aroused at the beheading of /mumble is because of how gorgeous it looked. not a psychopath or anything... yeah that's it... NOT a psychopath
Dude, it doesn't make you a psychopath that you enjoy ripping heads of... "things" in a video-game, regardless of how gorgeous the graphics may look or not.

Violence is something pretty fundamental to humans after all. We're a pretty violent species, and most of the time that trait goes against us, especially when man injures his fellow man due to frustrations and anger over petty topics, and this holds true in pretty much every confrontation, from the drunken brawl between two men at a pub where one of the men got pissed off because the other man said something that the first man didn't like to hear to such grand and violent conflicts as world wars.

BUT, using video games as a source of outlet for violence and actually enjoying it is not a bad thing like punching a real person in the face is. Violent video games show the potential of making the world a more peaceful place. After all, wouldn't we rather have the violent "psychopaths" taking out their urges on digital characters on a screen rather than doing it against real people?

Am I the only one who wished there was the option for Kratos just to stand there and watch? :p

Hilarious. I wonder what happens if you keep pressing the wrong buttons:

"Oh...I'm sorry my dear, that doesn't normally happen..."
That's what I was wondering. Do the other girls start frowning and saying stuff like "oh... that's just wrong", "Wow, he completely missed", "For the god of war, it's odd he uses such a small sword."
There's a video called "Minute man" beneath this video on the GT homepage.

From what I can recall at this time, they merely sneer and start to shake their heads in disgust.

Quite funny, if you ask me.
Edit: I am ninja'd. My pride, it hurts so.

Well, that was completely pointless, and would serve no purpose other than to distract the gamers. I doubt that I am the only one who would prefer not to get turned on by my games, so that I can concentrate on gaming, but I don't know.

it wouldn't be very hard to dump your body in a riv.. i mean YEAH you are 100% right on everything... digital outlets.

But yeah on a side note, that "scene" would be used as a moment of levity throughout a gruesome violent and mind shattering video game

I think you're taking it a bit too seriusly. They probably only did it in the first god of war, because they thought it was funny. Then, as time went by, it was featured in Gow 2, so now it's become sort of a tradition in the series.
Quite possibly, but what is the point? Why spend money and time and effort on that?

How does it improve the gameplay? How does it advance the story? How does it add depth to the storytelling or characters?

GoW III will hardly be the perfect game when it comes out: no game is. And instead of polishing it, perhaps making the story a little more engaging or adding another attack to the repertoire of Kratos...

They used time and resources for that. And everyone will either think it as an excellent fan-yay moment or be too busy fapping to think of anything.

Besides, even if people would be fapping like crazy over them, it wouldn't lower their IQ.
The fapping part won't, not by itself, in that you are right. It is simply that it is indicative that poorly-executed, unrealistic clip about sex is still all that is needed for some to throw away their money. Seriously, it's like no-ones seen a half-naked woman before. What lowers the IQ is that that short clip will be enough to spark flame-wars, will feature in a lot of wet dreams and that a fanbase will grow around that short, pointless, poorly executed clip that adds nothing of value and fails to qualify as art.
No. no and no. Buying a unknown, back of the shelf game because it has a sex scene would be cheap marketing.

Really get out of your high horse for a minute. This is freaking God of War no one buying it would make that decision on a sex scene. Oh and to all those nonsexuals/ etc get into your head that a sex drive is a very normal thing.

Yeah, still proably not buying GOW3. Didn't play the first two so I don't really see the point.

Maybe I'm just spoiled with an internet connection and therefore access to plenty of real porn, but that was pathetic. I'm talking pouring lye on your penis pathetic. I didn't even find that funny, much less erotic. I suppose if i was twelve, i would think this was the greatest thing, but since i have touch real boobs, this kind of not even going halfway is not going to cut it.

Kratos' mere presence can drive women to lesbianism. Wait...is that good?
This is exactly what I was thinking. So Aphrodite can deal with about two minutes of Kratos sex before calling the girls back in, eh?

That was far funnier than sexy, but all the quicktime sex scenes have been.

If you can't see the action, what's the point? Just some tits and sex noises? Pfft, I can find better in a minute easy.

Other than those being the fakest breasts ever (when will developers learn how those things move?), that was rather amusing. About as erotic as linoleum, but amusing XD
I know. were they glued down or something?

Agreed. It's kinda silly. Sure boobs are nice and all, but internet is full of porn. That scene is completely unnecessary.

If you people enjoy the story and character development of the God of War games and continue buying them for that reason, then I'm pretty sure that tells the rest of us more about your IQ than anyone else. That's like saying Halo was an excellent series because of all the in-depth story telling and character development.

Also, people aren't going to buy this game just for the sex game. I mean, why not look up the sex scene? In fact everyone on this thread just did. If these people were going to buy this game strictly for the sex scene, then they wouldn't need to now. It's safe to say the profit to be made from this one aspect would be (I'm assuming) little to none.

I honestly don't think developers would spend more time and money than needed on a sex mini game if they thought other areas of the game could be improved with said time and money. They probably know how much money it costs to make such a pointless mini game to begin with, so they probably use any leftover resources to develop it after they were indubitably done with the rest of the game. Thus the quality of the final product shouldn't be less than it could be, sex mini game included or not.
