Hey Everybody, It's the God of War III Sex Scene! *NSFW*

They are using sex and sexuality to market a game that isn't about sex or sexuality. They are giving the boot to an even larger part of Greek mythology to do it (more than they already are, that is) and the scene does not add to the gameplay, story, overall polish or the end value to those gamers who happen not to be 'in need of it'. ANd creating this scene cost time and money, which could have been used to improve one of the aforementioned aspects of the game.

The reason I'm griping about this is that it leads to a worse product than what it would have been without it and no one seems to give a damn because they are distracted by Teh Jubblies.

Agreed, it's just a cheap attempt to garner some controversy in order to boost sales. Even from this short clip you can work out that Kratos just turns up and bones this chick simply because she is willing to let him, it's not the result of hours of character development that leads to romance.

At least the bonking in Mass Effect makes sense.

And perhaps, as such, I see this scene for what it is: a pointless fan-yay moment meant to increase sales, and nothing more. If I was the leader of the marketing department, I would have suggest this myself. But since I'm a gamer I feel I must say this:

due to the complete lack of quality of the scene. I say maybe a weeks worth of effort. Now if you know anything about game development thats almost nothing and they are going to make more money from that 1 week then any other week and thus have more money to put into the next game. So i say this scene and the others in Gow 1/2 made this game better because they had more money to spend on the game from the many that bought it for the sex. prove me wrong i dare ya

Yes, it was. And it is a detriment because it cost time, money and effort to create the scene and implement it. Time, money and effort which could have been used to improve other aspects of the game, but now will not be used to improve them as the resources are no longer available.

As a result, the other aspects of the game are not as good and polished as they could have been. And that means it is detrimental.

The REASON for the sex scenes in GOW:
In the first GOW: Kratos can't go a couple of days at sea without sex! I mean, who can?
In the second: Kratos was threwn around like a rag-doll, who would'nt have sex with a broken back?
In the third: ... They will probably get a black slave snapping her fingers while giving the answears.

Despite being a little hilarious what value has that got at all? apart from to give 14 year olds who don't have a PC in their room some assistance in Teasing the weasel.

If that's all its there for then why not just go the whole hog and actually show the sex??

Agreed. It's certainly challenging Saint's Row 2 for 'Classiest Videogame Romance'.


The puzzling thing is, Saint's Row is all about the parody, but I thought God of War was supposed to be a serious, mature game... the voice acting in that scene makes me wonder if it was intentionally hilariously bad or just poorly judged.

Money doesnt come down to a certain scene, its just the whole game. It may have cost time, but it is suppose to be a mature game. Plus, there has been boobs and sex in every single God of war game. If sex in a game really bothers you that much then I am sorry. The company that made this game really didnt put it in for extra sales, they put it in because they love boobies. I wish I could say I was joking, but thats the main reason they put it in.

And right now, God of war fans doont need to worry about any dissapointment, and I guarentee no one will buy this game just to see boobs. There are plenty of easier and cheaper ways to see nudity, and fortunately most people know that.

Notice how none of this improves the quality of God Of War III.

Also, once you take the extra profits made from the sex scene, you have to factor in the taxes. Then the dividends paid to the company stockholders, costs incurred from the creation of tha scene and so forth. Since this is Sony we are talking about, some of that money will be used to the creating of the next incarnation of Playstation, as well as other games developed by Sony.

If you understood anything about how a company works, you know that (depending on the industry), for every dollar of revenue you make a profit of a few cents up to two dozen cents. Profit is taxed...

So, not all revenue gained from the scene can be saved for the next game. Even less will be saved for the next game. There are expenses after all.

And the next game will have a budget of it's own. The size of the budget will not be decided simply by the success of their previous title, but a variety of other factors as well (starting from the general interest rate of bank-loans). All in all, the extra revenue brought in from the sex scene in this game will have little impact on the time- and budgetary constraints of the next project. Which may turn out to be the 'God Of War Pony Guitar Hero: The Epic Unicorn Battles Of Olympus. Now featuring Spice Girls and other popular bands'

Yes, my grandmother was playing this game, relishing in the slaughter of legendary beasts and honourable God-slaying and then she was compeletly turned off by the titties...
Come on, it's a mature game with sex and violence and even by softcore porn standards this is really, really tame.

Topless women kissing and fondling one another whilst an implied sex scene happens?
I've seen much worse done much less tastefully.
