Before I watched that, I was getting all set up to make a joke about 'Press B to etc', but then I see that they actually did that.

If you people enjoy the story and character development of the God of War games and continue buying them for that reason, then I'm pretty sure that tells the rest of us more about your IQ than anyone else. That's like saying Halo was an excellent series because of all the in-depth story telling and character development.

Also, people aren't going to buy this game just for the sex game. I mean, why not look up the sex scene? In fact everyone on this thread just did. If these people were going to buy this game strictly for the sex scene, then they wouldn't need to now. It's safe to say the profit to be made from this one aspect would be (I'm assuming) little to none.

I honestly don't think developers would spend more time and money than needed on a sex mini game if they thought other areas of the game could be improved with said time and money. They probably know how much money it costs to make such a pointless mini game to begin with, so they probably use any leftover resources to develop it after they were indubitably done with the rest of the game. Thus the quality of the final product shouldn't be less than it could be, sex mini game included or not.

I think the reason why most people don't look up to such a ridiculous sex-scene is because it's pretty redundant to include in the first place. And personally I would agree with that assessment, but I don't really pay it too much attention, because the God of War series have always included something like it, and it seems (and I hope) that it is included as a sort of gag on the part of the developers rather than a serious moment in the game itself. And thus it can now be considered a sort of mandatory "running gag", since the tradition has stuck with the series so far to include a segment where Kratos bones some woman off-screen in tune to a Quick Time Event.

And in that regard, the fact that this clip showed how utterly cheesy and tacky the scene is seems to illustrate the gag-factor of it. My respect for the developers would have plummeted if I found out that they actually invested much time and effort to include a "high-quality" sex-scene in a game like God of War, by hiring high-class voice actors or upping the polygon count to simulate as realistic movements of the breasts as possible or some similar shenanigan.

They way it looks now, it seems that the developers are doing it in a tounge-in-cheek manner, and they seem to have the same perspective as the fans does. They know and we know that no mature person would buy a God of War game just to see some animated titties or a scene of pseudo-porn, they know and we know that the fans like GoW because of the bucketloads of blood you get to spill in all manner of stylish, adrenaline-pumping ways... Och and the fact that you can rip the eyeball out of the head of a cyclops. That's just incredibly badass. >

I remember a funny scene in the original Call of Juarez game. Early on in a cut-scene, a prostitute gets on her knees and unzips you. Unfortunately, you get interrupted before she does anything and you have to dive out the window to escape a barrage of bullets from an angry pimp/bar owner.

I couldn't help wondering - You never see him zip up again, what if he never put his gear away after the cut-scene? Is that why everyone else in the game from that moment on seems so angry at you?

If you forgot to actually type that you zipped up your pants a policeman would come and arrest you as soon as you went outside because aparently Larry found it to be a good idea to walk around in the streets with the condomed pickle hanging out of his trousers. Leisure Suit Larry is reknowned for dick moves though. Which was that one where you pick up a food can which has absolutely no use? If you make the mistake of keeping it with you (there is no reason to discard it), your character will open it and eat the contents whilst stranded on a life raft in the middle of the ocean. He will then automatically die of food poisoning.

due to the complete lack of quality of the scene. I say maybe a weeks worth of effort. Now if you know anything about game development thats almost nothing and they are going to make more money from that 1 week then any other week and thus have more money to put into the next game. So i say this scene and the others in Gow 1/2 made this game better because they had more money to spend on the game from the many that bought it for the sex. prove me wrong i dare ya

Notice how none of this improves the quality of God Of War III.

Also, once you take the extra profits made from the sex scene, you have to factor in the taxes. Then the dividends paid to the company stockholders, costs incurred from the creation of tha scene and so forth. Since this is Sony we are talking about, some of that money will be used to the creating of the next incarnation of Playstation, as well as other games developed by Sony.

If you understood anything about how a company works, you know that (depending on the industry), for every dollar of revenue you make a profit of a few cents up to two dozen cents. Profit is taxed...

So, not all revenue gained from the scene can be saved for the next game. Even less will be saved for the next game. There are expenses after all.

And the next game will have a budget of it's own. The size of the budget will not be decided simply by the success of their previous title, but a variety of other factors as well (starting from the general interest rate of bank-loans). All in all, the extra revenue brought in from the sex scene in this game will have little impact on the time- and budgetary constraints of the next project. Which may turn out to be the 'God Of War Pony Guitar Hero: The Epic Unicorn Battles Of Olympus. Now featuring Spice Girls and other popular bands'

Seriously, you are willing to accept a poorer quality product, on the vague possibility of an increased budget to a future undisclosed title that you may not even end up playing?

the Devs make a game that they think will sell the best and thats what they did. if your complaining that this scene has taken away from the characters then you sir r off your rocker because no one buys this game for characters even the main character can be summed up in a sentence if you want depth go buy a rpg you little whiner

Indeed, what is the point? Besides to use digital lesbians and rendered breasts to make a ludicrous amount of money more than what GoW III would have already made. Honestly, I feel ashamed by association to belong to the male side of humanity, because I know not just one, or two, but several cpies of the game will be sold based on that alone.

Just when I was hoping that humanity might have some hope after all... But no, implication of sex and a poor female actor voicing some uuhs and aahhs is still a surefire way to make bucketloads of money from gamers.
