I'm in the same boat. I have tried so hard to like this game. I love the community and the humour and everything but I have serious trouble being able to sit down and play it and enjoy myself.
The only times I play it now is if one of my friends begs me too. I think the only thing that puts me off is how insanely fast the gameplay is. You die a LOT.
I guess it doesn't matter. We don't have to like the game, it's just a shame is all

I just went out and found a gaming community (other than this one) that had some TF2 servers and people who weren't asshats. Playing with people who are fun makes a huge difference.
Ooh, here's another important one. Find servers with rules that you like. I make a point of only playing on servers with rules against spawn camping. Because, as Greyfox has pointed out, being spawn camped is really, really not fun.Greyfox105 said:
Er... Have you seen TF2 competative play? It's a league of difference from the pub games. Whilst you'd have 12 people on a pub side, maybe 2 of them working together, everyone else doing what they want. In a competative game it's 6 players, usually only 4 classes are used, set weapons, set maps... It's a different animal.Mikeyfell said:

Don't worry man, I kinda feel the same way.
I've played it quite a bit on my PC online and at some LAN parties because friends wanted me to.
I'm not sure what it is about the game, but there isn't really anything there that pulls me into the multiplayer. No real lasting benefits.
I'll stick with my Red Dead personally, but hey, to each his own.

I don?t play it all that much, I need to be in a certain mood to play such online games. But I find the whole thing rather amusing.
Anyway, I don?t really think this thread is really going to work with making you like it.
If you find it off putting other people saying why they like it isn?t going to change what you see as the off putting bits. All you can do is see if there is a way to change the off putting bits. For instance, if the problem is something like you not liking the people you happen to be playing with then the solution is finding a server with a regular community of people you like. If it?s a certain type of game mode, well there are other game modes and a number of user made ones. Maybe you just don?t like the game at all in which case it might be time to count your losses and move on.

Well the fun thing can be rather hard to explain thoroughly but most often im playing with several friends with teamspeak and that is one part of it (some one might want to use ingame talk but nobody in finnish servers does so)

There's actually a surprising number of ways to play TF2. Big maps, small maps, team size limits, highlander mode, not to mention the various game types and classes. Maybe you'd enjoy it if you tried to play as a different class on a server that limits team size to 8 or less. Or maybe you'd like the bigger servers that have teams of 16. Maybe you'd like payload maps, or maybe you'd prefer arena. Or CTF. Or capture point or king of the hill.
Or maybe even try some of the custom game types - there's an interesting reverse-CTF map that I've played that I thought was fun, and there's even a WarioWare type map that has minigames. And even if you just want to play the official game types, there's custom maps made for those all the time so you rarely run the risk of getting bored of the same maps over and over...unless you always play on the same server, but that really just boils down to user choice in that case.
Honestly, to anyone that's tried TF2 and not enjoyed it, I'd recommend experimenting with high/low populations, the different classes, and then a few different game types (including custom ones). If there's nothing you enjoy out of all that then the game isn't for you and that's totally fine - we all have different tastes. But I definitely think it's a game that has a niche for almost everyone if they try to find it.

Why i like it? Well the cartoonish style for once and that the classes taunt and insult each other when you dominate someone.

Almost all the weapons are sidegrades with a few exceptions, but you can totally do just as well as a vet. If a veteran is beating you, it's not the item, it's that they're a vet. And the hats are purely cosmetic except for the handful released in the latest update, but even then those aren't really any boost, just another sidegrade. I think you may want to take a look again at the weapons and what they do, because you seem to think they're worth more than they are. Also, all items are random drops now, so if you play you'll get everything soon enough. Probably in less time than it'd take for you to get to the top in CoD4 or Battlefield.archvile93 said:
