I've been a gamer since the 80's. I've owned at least a dozen+ consoles and have been building my own PC gaming rigs since the mid-90s. I play everything from first-person shooters to real-time strategies to point-and-click adventures to dungeon crawlers to side-scroller adventures to 3rd person platformers. So does that mean I'm a "hardcore gamer"?
If so, then the OPs argument is flawed and moot.
If not, then I have to ask: Just what the flippity hell constitutes a hardcore gamer?!
