Meh, I'm buying anyway, I don't care what they find out about me, if they'd ask I'd tell them anyway.
How many sexual Partners have you had?

Are you homosexuell, heterosexuell, Bisexuell or perhaps Asexuell?

What do you prefer, dogs or cats?

What is your Pin Number?

What is the Login Data for your PayPal/Ebay/Amazon/Steam Account?

What is the Login Data for your Forum Account on the Escapist?

Why on earth is this such a non-issue for you? *facepalm*

Oh and keep in mind, as with a installed Origin, you have no choice to answer these or not.
None, I'm a virgin and probably will be for along time. Heterosexual. I'm indifferent really. I don't have a credit card. No idea for the steam one, would be nice for them to tell me if they find out =D. And I'd like to know why they'd care about the escapist. This is a non-issue because if someone asks me something, I'd tell them. I have no care about what people think of me, I'm not embarrassed or insecure about anything I do. Besides, EA are just dicks, not thieves. And I can already hear the "what about project 10$ hurr hurr hurr" (not from you necessarily, just from the internet). So yeah, I'm fairly indifferent about this.
And yet you fail to simply answer the given questions. I don't care about your opinion. I asked you questions, I want answers, nothing else. Be glad that I'm actually making clear what I want to know, unlike EA who would be doing the equivilant of checking all your paperwork to find what they want.
I'm fairly sure you asked me my opinion right there. And like I said, don't care, it's EA, not a criminal organisation. The small reward from ninjaing peoples money like that is completely outweighed from the risk of being found out, and the shit that will hammer down on them if they try. So they won't try, even if there was benefit in doing so.

Not to say that everyone else should STFU and it's not a problem, because it is. It just is a problem that I'm fairly indifferent to, and last time I checked, I was allowed to come here to say that, and not be like everyone else and be like 'Wtf, I'm cancelling my pre-order for the 18th time".

Why do companies make not pirating their products such a difficult thing to do?
This.

Because of this shit, the argument "I'm pirating Mass Effect 3 because I can't play it otherwise" becomes a valid argument. It's actually kind of sad because pirating it might be the only way I can play ME3. That really sucks. I was getting ready to pre-order and everything :(

I hate this shit, but I WANT TO PLAY ME3!
Wat do?
Tell them that 1000 times in every way you can. In person at PAX.(What I will be doing) In e-mail. By letter. To developers who will be published by EA. So on and so forth.

You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services.
So basically they're saying they'll keep record of the details of your COMPUTER in order to make sure their software updates will be compatible with as many systems as possible.

EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you.
There is no issue here, they will not share any personal information.

Move along.

I'm going to try and run Origin in sandbox, hope it limits it enough whilst still allowing me to play BF3. If it doesn't work then I'm going to have to find a 'work around', because I am determined to play BF3 despite EA's best efforts. I'm not cancelling my pre-order, but I'm not going to put up with corporate spyware.

So glad I'm not installing Origin, or Battlefield 3 for that matter.

Screw you EA.

Who fucking cares. They're not stupid enough to do anything illegal with the information.

HOLY SHIT! EA IS TRYING TO FUCK US OVER? WHO WOULDA THUNK IT! Its almost as if no one had every heard of them before...

-.-;

Why is this a surprise to some people?
not surprising, not even disappointing at this point just a bit grim is all that EA can do this just because people seem to not care about their right to privacy or want BF3 that much :p

DAMN IT PEOPLE READ THE ACTUAL ToS WITH YOUR EYES OPEN.

It says they will collect information about your COMPUTER and CERTAIN PROGRAMS and that they will NOT share ANY personal information they might have.

Stop being such fucking sheep and learn to think for yourselves. Just because the vapid OP decided to jump to utterly unfounded and ridiculous conclusions doesn't mean you have to.

C'mon, its not like they are going to do anything bad with this info. They are only collecting it so the various law enforcement agencies can poke around your private life, without being constrained by the legal system, to see if any of their countrymen are endangering the Greater Good with anti-political dissent. Those not hauled off to the gulags will then have their information sold to spammers.

Its not too hard to see just how bad this will become in such a short amount of time.

If ME3 is an Origin exclusive, then fuck it I say.
