This is just one of the many reasons I'm not a PC gamer.

Although, now that I think about it, my Kinect does see everything I do...

DAMN IT PEOPLE READ THE ACTUAL ToS WITH YOUR EYES OPEN.

It says they will collect information about your COMPUTER and CERTAIN PROGRAMS and that they will NOT share ANY personal information they might have.

Stop being such fucking sheep and learn to think for yourselves. Just because the vapid OP decided to jump to utterly unfounded and ridiculous conclusions doesn't mean you have to.
They should not be be allowed to collect such a vague and wide amount of information such as what programs I have and when I use them and as has been pointed out someone could come in and steal the information they have collected. This ToS is overreach and should be fought so we don't have even more attempted next time. It comes down to trust and frankly many people do not trust EA with that much of their information.

But who plays EA games anyway... you know the games you buy a part of and then buy the next 12 expansion packs for to actually get the game you thought you bought in the first instance.

Yeah because someone knowing what processor you use is totally useful to someone who wants to steal your identity.

When mentioning information sharing in a ToS it's good practice to re-iterate that they will not share personal information. The personal information we're talking about is that which you personally enter in to the system. Like you enter personal information in to ANY system you sign up to.

Who fucking cares. They're not stupid enough to do anything illegal with the information.
Its illegal to put spyware on people's computers, no matter what good intention.

Also, this crap about not sharing information isn't the problem is it? I thought the problem is that they collect the information, scanning my computer without permission or without warning is illegal. I think this clause of the agreement would need to be the first thing they show you to make this in anyway okay.

Invasion of privacy. AGAIN.

Why is EA getting away with this?
Because 16 pages is a lot to read, Bro. And boycotting shit is hard. Especially good shit like Battlefield.
It is not that it is a lot to read. It is because most people including me do not understand legalise and any of its derivatives.

Is it me or are several companies just abusing their influence in the games industry recently?

...I really don't give a rodent's hindquarters about Battlefield. But you just know this is going to be a requirement for Mass Effect 3, and that's really going to suck.

I sometimes feel like EA and Activision are playing a sadistic game of ping-pong where each return is a volley of "Well, but they're not as bad as the other guy, because the other guy is also doing this!"

Now, is Origin a game/program itself, or is it attached to other games? Forgive my ignorance, but I don't know enough about these things. IF it's the former, is there a compiled list of games that have it?
