Offensive? Hardly, but that's just me. I just wonder how long I have to sit around while people blow up everything that even remotely resembles a "9/11 reference". It's getting really, really annoying now...

I'm really not that bothered by it. It would have been more insensitive to pretend that 9/11 didn't even happen and have no reference to what happened in New York in a fictional city based off it. Although would I forgive them for not mentioning it at all i'd be a bit annoyed. But they did mention it, there weren't any insulting implications that it could have been easily avoided, or that it was divine will. It does lessen the impact that in the game it was simply a natural disaster but again, this is very minor and easily forgiven.

I'm american btw, i was young at the time but i still remember the day it happened, though i was a hundred or so miles south of New York.

*EDIT* oh yeah, on the wiki the pokemon is 9"10' 9(ft)10(in)(fuck the imperial system, i wish we'd grow up and start learning metric and give up our "special" way of measuring) though it could have been edited as it's a wiki.

Honestly, the reference completely passed my mind until you brought up just now. I still don't really care, however. Seriously, I can understand the emotions around 9/11, but you American's seem to treat it as though Al Qaeda nuked half your country away when the Twin Towers fell, and seem to want everyone else to care just as excessively about it when we have no reason or care to.

Stop bringing it the fuck up. Please.
I am a full-blood American, and I support this. People need to shut the fuck up about 9/11. Funny how nobody flinches when you mention foreign historical events of equal or greater headcount, but the second you bring up 9/11 OHHHH YOUVE GONE TOO FAR.

It's the same deal as Pearl Harbor. We build ourselves up to be this invincible superpower, then when someone attacks us we ***** and moan and, oh I don't know, invade foreign lands, get involved with holy wars, and be the first and only country to use atomic bombs as an act of war?

I'm not saying these things weren't bad, they were. But dwelling on it so much is kind of ridiculous.

How is that offensive? It's a reference to the event, if it even is. Nothing more.

If perhaps said "Lolz, U.S.A desurved 9/11!! Fuck 'em good with dem bombs!" or something along those lines, then it's offensive.

Referencing events like this is not offensive.
Thank you.

Very rarely is something truly offensive. Modern people just seem to have nothing better to do than ***** about stuff, so everyone's walking on eggshells.

I consider myself a patriot and would love to see the bastards responsible for 9/11 burn, and I still don't see how this is so terrible.

It's not offensive, simple as that. It was ten years ago so I wouldn't consider it an open wound, and it isn't as if they are mocking the event, so it's all fine by me:)

since 9/11 is not a big deal (unless you are an American with your head stuck up your own ass) then it is impossible to get offended by it
America kills triple the amount that died in the towers every year and while it is sad for the people who died then USA as a nation did deserve it
Hello, I am an American.

So I am sure you believe that I am some fat illiterate asshole who hates the rest of the world, you probably think I deserve to die.

You disgust me, and I wonder if you even read what you post, or do you just throw words out there without thinking?

OT: No I dont find it offensive, because they arent outright calling it WTC, however, I do believe it is in bad taste.
Just a tip? These are the kinds of posts where you bite your lip, report, and move on. Hopefully, the mods will kick his ass back to whatever dark, hateful corner of the internet spawns people like him.

Yeah america should get over this happening but in the same thought I realised this: Think about your country, Has any thing like this happened in your country? Has your country "got over it?" Or does it still remembe and get offended if something like this happens?

Sorry to call you out on this one but really?

Do you know when Biggie Smalls died? On March 9th, 1997. Do you know when 9/11 happened? 11th September 2001. More than 4 years after the 9/11 attacks.

So unless Biggie Smalls was some kind of Nostrodamus, he was probably referencing the much smaller terrorist attack in 1993.

OT: Not at all, I think that it's a pretty contrived conspiracy, and an unconvincing one at that (People have already mentioned how it's actually listed as 9'10").
Not really. I didn't think that anyone would grasp on that.

As a massive Hip Hop fan I know perfectly well, when Christopher Wallace died. Incidentally I even know the name of the baby on the cover of Ready To Die. I thought it was rather general knowledge to at least know Biggie died in the nineties.

I just happen to think about that line every time 9/11 is mentioned. Partly, because the "...World Trade" was censored on a track that I listened to some years back (after 9/11). It was either Juicy edited, or most probably a remix or another song which had samples from Juicy. Crazy, huh :s

I don't blame you, because obviously, at least know when I look at it, it's hard to tell whether the quote was for why it really was, or because of facepalmingly bottomless ignorance, which you took it for.

Ah, all is forgiven. I assumed (wrongly I guess) that because of the crazy amounts of anti Hip-Hop sentiment and stigmatism on this site, you were ignorant of the basic facts. Yeah, though, I get where you're coming from, I often am reminded of the same thing when listening to 'Come Clean', by Jeru the Damaja (Cuz I blow up spots like the world trade center).

As I'm sure you can tell from my Name and Avatar, I am too a massive Hip-Hop fan, so I couldn't let such a blatant seeming error go without reprimand

ow, for the love of god...
That was 10 years ago. GET OVER IT!
not everything revolves around that ONE incident 10 years ago. Seriously. I don't get that people can STILL whine about that. Amerika is NOT the only country who has suffered terrorist attacks, but the other countries seem to just keep going...

JUST LET IT GO!
build a new phallic symbol or something...sheesh

Why does it even matter if 9/11 is referenced in a game?
And why is it offensive?

I don't find it offensive, and I would like to say that my Kyurem is 9 feet and 10 inches.

This. And I'm from America.

Hell, I was sick of it by the first anniversary of it.
this. it's not like the US hadn't killed 20 times as many Afghanis and Iraqis within the first year as died in 9/11. "we" got our f'in revenge (and largely against people who had nothing to do with the attack), it's long past time to let it go.
Are you saying we killed 40,000 Iraqi civilians in one year? Because that is pretty much 100% incorrect.

If it was intentional, which I doubt it is, it is then 83.3r times less offensive than American depictions of them saving the day by dropping a nuke on something.

More stuff about 9/11? Really? Is it really that hard to let go?

Okay, let me put this down. One thing I have learned about life is that it's not about suffering, but overcoming suffering. So overcome it already!

Offensive? No.

I'd rather use the term dumb since 'tactless' and 'shallow' infer a level of sophistication that it lacks.

This is probably the first time I've actually wanted to call the whole staff of Cracked.com a pack of fucking idiots. Ok the others were perfectly deserving of that list, but a fucking Pokemon game? That is a definite contender for the stupidest fucking thing I've ever fucking heard.
(This is also probably the most I've ever put the word "Fucking" in a single post)

There's no way this was intentional and if it wasn't then the game creators didn't mean anything bad by it (as Masuda said).

Yup, the official stats on Bulbapedia say all of them are 9'10". That's close to it. Not 9'11" exactly. It's a coincidence.
