So I don't know if there was already a post about this, but I guess in the new Pokemon games Unova is modeled after New York City, complete with it's own Ground Zero. This is caused by a meteor which then leaves a pokemon who happens to 9 feet 11 inches tall. Obviously, I doubt that the Pokemon team had any serious negative intentions here, but it does seem a bit insensitive.
Found out about it on Cracked.com

It's #5 on the list.
This thing is being blow way out of proportion. If anything, this is some big conspiracy theory, a very messed up one at that, that doesn't even have any clear points.
Yes this generation of Pokemon the region is based off of North America, but obviously looking at the map it looks nothing like it. The place that comes after Castelia City is just a desert and a ruins of an ancient(we are talking Egyptian tomb type stuff) civilization. There are construction sites in that area, but it is just suppose to be city expansion.
Cracked is incredibly stupid and obviously haven't played the game themselves. That Meteor that they are talking about, didn't fall anywhere near Castelia City. If you look at the map, got north to the next city then go right and around three cities. The Meteor landed around/next to Lacunosa Town. The people in that town in my game talk about the Meteor crashing right next to their town, no where near Castelia City. If not, than some how my game is different from everybody else's.
People are just grasping or juicy news where there is none, now, everybody, get back to your lives and forget about the crazy people that thought up this stuff to make these articles.

There isn't a 9-11 Pokémon in the first place, so I guess it can't be offensive if it can't exist. Cracked didn't get any details of the route or Pokémon right in their article. And even if they did and what they said had been true, they're still just trying to get people riled up over something that wasn't intended to be offensive.
I laughed as well, they link their source for the Pokemon's height to Bulbipedia, when you use that link, it says the Pokemon's height is 9'10".
But now all the conspiracy theorists are going to spew that it is close enough or that Bulbipedia has been tampered with.
