Is there a dev company whose games you will play, no questions asked?

Well, no. Though there are some companies from whom I buy a lot. But every one of them has put out at least one game I've disliked. Three examples:

1. BioWare: Loved all their games ever since Neverwinter Nights, and the Mass Effect games are some of my favorite ever. But Dragon Age never really clicked with me.
2. Bethesda: Huge Elder Scrolls fan, ever since Morrowind. But I couldn't get into Fallout 3. Just didn't find it fun.
3. Square Enix: I've bought every numbered Final Fantasy (VI is one of the greatest RPGs ever made), and The World Ends With You was fucking fantastic. I haven't bought XIV, though, since I didn't like XI very much.

Most of the time, I'll just wait for the game to come out, and read the reviews. I've only preordered two games total in the past five years: Bayonetta (and only after playing a demo at a con) and Mass Effect 3.

Black Isle and now Obsidian. Sure, their stuff is often buggy, and doesn't have the most amazing graphics but their stories are well made and very interactive, plus their gameplay mechanics are always very well thought out.

I would say the same of Troika, for the few games they've put out..
Get out of my head!

Also JE Sawyer could sell me spiders to eat. The man is awesome. (He answered me on twitter and I actually had a fan girl squee moment. That is not me AT ALL)

That's awesome, I would probably Squee at that, and I'm a dude so... you know... WTF?! XD

Electronic Arts TROLOLOLOL

But no, seriously, probably Valve. Even though L4D2 was a total cash-in they haven't made a game yet that was a total disappointment.

Yeah I know right? He seems like a really down to earth guy. I was just like 'Thankyou for the FNV mod. I am enjoying it.' Hoping he would just see it and know that people are appreciative and he said 'Thanks Glad you like it' :>

Not much but it made my day.

Atlus. Although, I refer to their home-grown games rather than every little thing they license.

Valve and Bethesda. At least anything they've developed themselves. I can't think of any time they've left me disappointed.

I have two:
Valve and Relic.
for me, relic absolutely. thanks for reminding me
most stuff thq publishes or develops i like for that matter.
bioware, i get most of their things. haven't gotten dragon age 2 yet, for financial reasons, and because the same financial reasons are keeping me from getting to all that Dragon age: Origins stuff. im unsure about dragon age 2, as i have heard lots of hate, and a good bit of praise as well, so i will just give it a try.

blizzard... not so much. never liked diablo, though i absolutely adore starcraft and warcraft, and kinda hope world of warcraft will continue shrinking so company resources can shift to other projects (like new warcraft strategy games perhaps? i know it probably wont happen, but i can just imagine WARCRAFT IV, the blackrock war, or something like that, re-making the wow content as an rts, editing the story so that it works single player, and likely will be better. maybe even particularly good or daring, not deliberately keeping the 2 factions at equal strength with the exact same races and always always at war to some degree).

There might be a few exceptions to each of these but

Capcom
Bioware
Valve
Blizzard
Rockstar

Can't say Ive tried all of their games, but I've liked everything I've tried from these companies.

Valve holds this dear spot in my heart. They treat their customers like mature, responsible people. They have the best digital distribution client, period. Valve doesn't port games to the PC, and if they do, they do a wonderful job of it.

Oh, and they figured out how to manufacture pure joy.

^^That, except I've never gotten a response from Sawyer. =[

Obsidian/Interplay/Troika always have very intelligent and deep writing in all their games, and despite also always being glitched out the posterior, are always fantastic in mechanics and balance. I'm not sure why their QA is so abysmal; but it can't all be blamed on working under less-than-stellar conditions (though KOTOR2 and New Vegas' issues are probably because of that.)

I'd also add Valve of course. The only series of theirs I'm not at least interested in is Counter-Strike, and I'd be willing to give even that a go. And I'll throw on a company that hasn't been mentioned yet: Frictional Games. The Penumbra series and Amnesia are both awesome, and the recent Justine add-on is even better than Amnesia's main game. And finally, Rockstar, though I haven't played RDR.

No, but there are a few to whom I will always give the benefit of the doubt. Namely Nintendo, Blizzard, and maybe Bethesda. Recently dropped from that list: Bioware

I wouldn't necessarily buy every game without question, but Atlus, Square Enix, Blizzard and Valve all deserve my consideration.

Valve and Relic. They can do no evil. And i say this having played every game they have released for the last 15 years and at least liking everyone enough to play it twice.

Rockstar and BioWare (mainly for GTA and Dragon Age respectively).
I've always enjoyed those 2 series of games and never even wait for reviews. As soon as I have the money, I go and buy the game.

Introversion, what with them wowing me twice and gob-smacking me once. Even their worst game is still pretty fantastic (Multiwinia).

Their upcoming game (Prison Architect) looks like Prison Tycoon if it didn't suck.
