Well, yeah, a little bit. I hope real combat doesn't reinforce your (slightly juvenile) impression of how enjoyable killing. Actually, I'd rather there not be combat in the first place. And I'd be more disturbed if you kept that attitude after being in actual life-or-death situations.

I read a article about someone like that, about 6 months later he was dishonorably discharge. He than killed a woman (thats why he had an article). Not saying that second part will happen, but he basically went into it thinking he would be great for it, and ended up not ready to deal with the psychological aspect and snapped.
What to take away from this, stick to Call of Duty, if thats the attitude you are going into the army with, you wont last long...

You said before that you'd be going into the Australian army. Conscription never happened in Australia until the Vietnam war. Which you'd be too old to be drafted if you were born in 1912. EDIT: Also only joining as a reservist, finish off high school, see where it takes me. Might end up going full time, or pissing off to the Navy, get engineering job there.

You and I certainly see things differently, yet we end up in similar situations it seems. I'm in the US military myself (Navy though) and I have absolutely no express interest in killing anyone. I mean, I'm not in a position where I'd ever have to directly (Navy afterall), but it's still more likely for me now than it was when I was a civilian. I also would rather be the kind of guy who doesn't bother worrying about whether he's contributing to society or not. Now, you may be asking, "why did this guy even join the military if he's such a nonviolent slacker?" Well, quite simply, I needed a job. Joining the Navy was the easiest option I had... other than probably joining the Air Force. But meh.
