Jack Thompson Threatens Gabe Newell Over School Shooter Mod

Sorry for the double post but I just need to add this.
While I agree with some that this most likely isn't the best kind of topic to create a shooter mod about, (I'm ripping off Bioshock with this) the artist should not fear the censor. If you shut down a mod or other project just because some people don't like it, you'll just empower those like Tardo Tommyboy here and zealous movement. Give 'em an inch and they'll try to take a mile.
If you don't like something you're entitled to you opinion and don't have to buy the product, let it die from bad sales instead.
In relation to children getting a hold of mature content, ratings are an important resource in informing parents to the nature of content, but the responsibility still lies with them as to what their children are exposed to, no one else, not the government, not the media and not this sorry excuse of a 'lawyer'.

Parents make the kids, not video games outside their age range. I love Black Ops but wouldn't let me son play it until at least 16. Just because of how brutal it can actually be.
This guy is a joke, he has no means to back up his lame threats (that is if he even has the guts to do so) so how does he expect anyone to take him seriously? He should just save himself the embarrassment and stay quiet for the rest of his life knowing he will NEVER beat the games industry.

But in all seriousness, I found it physically painful to read that letter. He doesn't understand how mods are distributed or created, but he always gives himself a pat on the back for "being right all the time," and claiming to have powers of prophecy about the industry.

Though the "School Shooter" mod for HL2 may just be the least tasteful (and one of the most offensive) things I've ever had the misfortune to hear about, bullies like Jack Thompson are trying to remove freedom of speech from America one banned game at a time. Are we going to let him and those like him bully us? I say no! Freedom of speech protects not only the speech we like, but the speech we don't as well and that's what helps makes America great! We can't let anyone try to take away our freedom no matter ho good their intentions are. That sort of thing leads to fascism!

wether it is or not, there is also the point that he tells newell to shut it down before a specified time, but with no actions to be taken should he fail to do so. what's gonna happen? will thompson frown sternly at newell? will he go off running to his mommy, crying what an evil, evil man gabe is and asking her to go talk to HIS mommy so SHE can punish the lad?

I wouldn't call my self a pacifist, yet I am certainly not the world's most violent person. That said, Jack Thompson is one of the few human beings that creates an uncontrollable urge within me, to stomp on his head until his exceptionally deluded micro-brain redecorates the walls, floor, and most probably, ceiling of my house.
