Like Gabe actually has anything to do with the mod.. Little hint Jack, you moronic douche bag, when someone produces an offensive mod for a game, you don't yell at the creator of the game being modded, you yell at the mod's creator.

This is pretty much what happens when a person who has no grasp over technology, PCs, gaming, business, or life, sticks their his nose in other people's business.

It's not Newell's fault. He most likely can't stop them. This is like your child seeing something unsuitable from a Panasonic TV, that was resting on an IKEA shelf. Then suing your friend because she suggested to buy the IKEA shelf.

How silly. How on Earth would Gabe Newell shut the mod down, exactly? And what the hell does he have to do with it's creation? (other than providing the engine, of course, but that's like condoning IKEA because someone used a sofa to kill their whatever)

Although I do find the mod (or what I heard of it, am not willing to play) completely immature and distasteful. Also kind of disgusting.

What ever did they blame violence on before video games came along? Must've made their jobs a hell of a lot easier when they did; "Oh, violence happened, what's the latest violent video game release? Grand Theft Auto eleventy billion and six? Blame them. What's that, the perpetrator doesn't own any electronics? Oh well, blame GTA anyways."

How can a company shut down a player made mod is it even possible? the only way I can think of is maybe to ask people not to host the download.

this nutcase has been disbarred for life. how is he still doing this shit?

i would love to see a cheeky reply from newell. considering that Valve isn't responsible for the mod, thompson isn't allowed to practice law anymore, AND i don't think he's ever won any of his video game cases, there's no reason to be afraid of him.

someone really needs to investigate how this guy even got his degree in law. i simply have no idea how he managed that.

Funny, that letter was almost civil and reasonable. Too bad his ego compelled him to include some baseless accusations and self-flattery.

Don't give up hope, Jack Thompson. Maybe you'll have character development someday. Someday.

14 pages? wow...i'm sure somebody said this before, but shouldn't a bigshot like thompson be capable of some proper grammar?

ladies and gentlemen, i smell a troll. wether that is a faker or thompson itself, matters not
From what I've seen, Thompson couldn't hit sanity with a well-thrown rock. It's quite likely this is legit.

Ah, shit. Stuck between a rock and a hard place here. On one hand, I think this mod is one of the worst things to come out of human creative expression in the last five years. On the other hand Thompson can never, ever be right, so...

Cooling down my rage, who else wants to laugh at Jack Thompson

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_(activist)#Mortal_Kombat

In October 2006, Thompson sent a letter to Midway Games, demanding they cease and desist selling the latest game in the Mortal Kombat series, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, claiming that the game was illegally profiting on his likeness, because gamers could use the Create a Fighter option to make a character who looked like Jack Thompson. Midway did not respond to his letter.

So lets say hypothetically that Valve (even though they definately won't) gives in, and tells the modder to cease and desist with the project. Can't they get sued by him? I mean, they put their engine out there for you to do what you want with it. I can't see how it's legal for them to be able to say "No, stop what your doing"

I think this mod should probably be shut down, but this jackoff is going about it in entirely the wrong way, using sensationalist ignorant terms and vague threats. Calling Half-Life a "murder simulator" (right, cause God knows we gotta protect those headcrabs)? Also wtf does this have to do with Substance Abuse?

Then again, if this mod got shut down, it could potentially lead to other, more benign, mods being shut down. God help them if they go after the nude Zoe L4D mod!

I think if we all just leave him alone again he'll fade back into obscurity.

Besides, we're still dealing with Uwe Boll...

Hold on, I sort of want to Jack to shut the fuck up. While the mod is fucked up yeah, you don't blame the guy who put the engine out there. You go after the mod devs you idiot. *facepalm*
