Someone mentioned doing a Jack Thompson parody so I went to Youtube and found this!

I STILL don't understand where anyone is getting the idea that any game will ever make you good at it's real life activity equivalent. No body is getting 100% on Guitar hero then signing a label the next day, no one is logging hundreds of hours in GTA and having the first clue about how to hotwire and steal an actual car (or properly flog a prostitute) and no one who plays mario runs around eating mushrooms and stomping on turtles. WHY WOULD HALF-LIFE MAKE YOU A GOOD KILLER? It's not even "murder", it's "self defense" and in many cases the defense of countless innocent lives. Its a "Hero Simulator". Half-life 1 did allow you to commit blameless murders on 'non-essential' staff members, but that only served to make the game more realistic. In HL2 when people just spark when you shoot them, it seems pretty stupid, and damages the sense of immersion in the world.
The only 'games' that actually might help you get better at real world activities are flight and driving simulators, and even then only if you're using the proper control devices, and STILL you won't be 'trained and ready' when you're done playing.
I imagine Hilter may have played Chess in his life time. I bet that drove him to start a world war!

OT: While I dislike the idea of a school shooter mod, I don't really see why Gabe Newell would condone such a thing. What kind of company want to be fired at by the media? Jack Thompson is grasping at straws. When he was on "Penn and Tellers Bullshit!" you could clearly see a PS3 and an Xbox360 controller. Is it one rule for you and another rule for the rest of us Jack?

He can't. Just because the game is tied in to steam doesn't mean he can legally release a 'screw you guys' patch. Such an update would, by all definitions, be a virus. It would be a piece of malicious software intended to cause the undesirable operation of the client computer. As terribly tasteless as this mod sounds, it's just a way for immature people to make fun of something they lack the depth to feel sorrowful over.poiumty said:
