I think your sales figure is a little wrong.
Yeah sorry about that one...I read somewhere recently that Wii Sports has sold 76.6 million and for some reason added an extra zero or two after some generous rounding...go me...off day and that. Actual figures though are 86 million units sold worldwide and that's still a high amount without it even being dead yet. But for one I don't know a single person who hasn't tried playing it in some way, shape or form and I find it quite interesting it became a pub accessory, right next to the snooker table. I mean no other games console has done that.

But yeah I'mma gonna leave this thread because I seem to have offended people and apparently I have no right to comment here, so yeah whatever I guess...

Dude, don't bother. He can't tell hi ass from his elbow. He's also been pulling all bhis info from his elbow.
I'll have you know that 327% of what I said is actually formed from the factual ether while the other -809% was formed by pure intelectual dullness and caffeine. So, there, you...factual mongloid...whatever one of those are...probably something to do with the gaming industry, I claimed it here first folks.

This kind of stuff worries me when being used. I mean there's already a small delay in these wireless controllers (noticeable in only a hand full of games)but now you're tying in all this other nonsense?

Very neat. I had the idea of a controller that basically ONLY had a handle grip and a touch screen in the center. No buttons, no analog sticks, nothing. Each developer then programs their own "controller" onto the touch screen. This way you can basically customize whatever control scheme you want into your games. You can put a keyboard, one massive stick in the center, what ever suits your game.

Sort of like how the I-Phone's controls in a game works (where they kind of make an analog stick on the screen and stuff"

Hope it's like that!
I'd rather not really. I'll play streetfighter 2 on the SNES over the Iphone any day because touchscreen controllers have no physical feedback and are less responsive

I'm afraid that I'm too excited about this. This is exactly the correct step to take within our current industry.

I don't like Apple, but let us use them as a benchmark: iMac -> iPad+iPhone/Pod

Now Nintendo: Project Cafe -> Controller+3DS

People want a full experience that can carry with them throughout their day. You carry your portable device of choice with you, and you are ready to play or use it as a controller. If you do not want Angry Birds to be the future of gaming, this is a necessity to embrace.

Can't we just all just wait for the E3 press conference and see what Nintendo themselves has to say about their upcoming console?

I'm a little skeptical about this, controllers like that would be very expensive and would likely scare away customers. Nintendo is arguably rather blind to the market in some respects (IE just releasing a new DS every couple weeks) but not that blind.

This news does not make me excited. I just don't really care about Nintendo anymore.

Only worry is that the controllers are going to be as expensive as ass, I'm not shelling out for some inferior version of the DS just so I can play the Wii 2.

And again, I have to ask: how the heck are they going to get a system with new hardware and touchscreen controllers on the market at a price that a typical customer is going to be willing to bear? Even relatively small and simple touchscreen devices rarely sell for under a hundred dollars apiece, and that's not coupled with hardware that supposedly competes with the XBox 360 and Playstation 3.

Until I hear word from Nintendo, I'm finding this line of rumors incredibly hard to believe.

Anyone remember Sega's NOMAD "controller" for the Genesis? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Nomad I'm reminded a lot more of that than I am of the dreamcast...

I don't think that this controller is a gimmick. But, these will probably be very expensive. At the cheapest, they'll probably cost around $100 each. This is the one thing about this generation I hate. High end but expensive technology for all of the various controllers. There is nothing wrong with the typical wired controller with rumble that was used last gen. Heck one of the best controllers this gen is the wired version of the Xbox 360 pad. It can be used for both the Xbox 360 and PC's (without the driver problems some pc games have with the wireless versions) without any problems and the cables are extra long for sitting on the couch.

Maybe Nintendo's gimmick could just be "we have Link and Mario hostage, and we'll release new awesome title's more frequently"? No? Gimmicky controls? Okay. I'll continue to play XBox.
