"3DS' inability to play Game Boy games (#13)"
That's unexpected? Hell, one of the main reasons I stuck with the original DS was because of its backwards playability.
That's one of my main reasons why I have my original DS, but also why I still have my Gameboy Advance. Hell, I still have my original copy of Tetris and Kirby's Pinball (wish I'd managed to keep hold of my copy of Kirby's Dream Land).
As for other reasons, I personally am very much against this whole 3D bullsh*t fad that's being forced upon us. Now, I know everyone sees things differently, but I personally do not see any difference when watching a 2D film and its 3D counterpart with the glasses in a cinema/theater. The only thing that bugs me, aside that I had laser surgery last year and now everywhere is insisting I have to wear glasses, is that when I have to use the annoying 3D glasses, it not only gives me a headache part way into the film, but also makes the screen darker and my eyes aren't drawn to the screen but the think plastic rims around my eyes.
That said, I've only used a 3DS in passing (watching over someone's shoulder and playing it for only a few minutes) and I just did not like the 3D effect. Then I hear that we're told as a health warning that you're only supposed to use it for 30 minutes or so. Now, I'm all for the idea of taking a break every so often to rest, but when you buy a product for its gimmick and then are told you're not supposed to use it for what the product was intended (gaming, aka, entertainment over semi-lengthy periods of time), it becomes rather pointless.
Add to that all the bad press on it, not just the parts that say this person got sick or these people complained, but of parts that say things like "The ToS for the DS state that any misuse of this product will cause the company to stop allowing software updates for this product."
Now, I don't know how much of these things are true and I'm used to taking such things with a pinch of salt, but if it's true that you're required to occasionally update your handheld's software and if unable to do so you lose the ability to play said handheld, it's effectively Nintendo's way of forcing you to buy a whole new console every time they feel you're not paying enough to them.
Again, not sure how true such statements are, but between concern of Nintendo trying to control what and how you play their system/s, the possible health concerns and the blatent hatred I have for gimmicky bullcrap, I find the 3DS to be completely useless and it just reeks of Nintendo trying to cash in when they could be pouring their resources into what they constantly claim to do... make gaming fun.
