I got one cause its a new nintendo title, and I love that first year os so where imagine babies 7 isnt released.

The only reason I got one on release was fear of it being sold out. Although I was way off, I dont really regret it, my 50 hours on street fighter 4 3D has already beaten my ps3 play of the game (and ive had that for almost a year now)

My reason is this: I hate 3D. It is a gimmick to me, and not a good one.

That, and that I didn't see any titles that I wanted. I can think of no game that I have ever played that would be improved by 3D
Yeah, I never got the 3DS for the 3D, and I always play in either 2D or VERY SLIGHT 3D (In my opinion it gives street fighter 4 a slightly better look, witht he 3d being unoticable at that level)

I think the 3DS is interesting, but a little too gimmicky. I picked one up because my DSlite (never had a DSi) died. I supposed it might be more interesting as a product if you are in a more densely packed urban enviroment where everyone has one so the streetpass features and suck worked, but I'm not, so they don't.

With the current economic climate I think Nintendo should know better than to think people are going to be dropping big piles of money for gimmicky entertainment products in any large numbers. I mean here in the US Gas is overl $4.00 a gallon and expected to go much higher as he summer hits it's peak. Under the circumstances they should be happy with the sales they are getting, which are astronomical for the enviroment. As it is, I'd still be using my DSlite if it didn't finally die.

I know the industry in general wants to make piles of money from new console releases and such, but honestly, now is not a good time to be releasing new platforms. Maybe in a decade or so. I think the industry got lucky during an economic upswing that lasted a couple of decades all together and set their plans and expectations around that, which was probably not the wisest thing to do.

The DS had 1 game i liked to PLAY elite beat agents
The DS had 1 game i liked to cheat Pokemon black

3DS has NOTHING and im not going to waste $300 on a console with like 90% movie/cartoon/toy games

Not until Nintendo changes the TOS. Seriously fuck them for the bullshit they put American users through.

Just another reason to move to Finland.

"Waaaaah! I'm not getting a Wii because it won't play my NES cartridges! Waaaah!"

That's how dumb you sound when you whine about the 3DS not playing GameBoy games. So to anyone who actually whines about that, stop it. GBA is dead. Just be glad that Nintendo doesn't get their ideas about backwards compatibility from Sony or Microsoft, because then the 3DS would only play some or none of the DS library.

Also, I refuse to buy one until the inevitable 'lite' version that has better screen resolution and longer battery life.
People still believe that a "3DS Lite" is coming out? Nintendo already said that it isn't because the 3DS is already "lite" right now.

Seriously, this is like all those "360 is getting a blu-ray upgrade" rumors all over again. No matter how many times the guys who make the damn things say "That is not going to happen", people ignore them and keep waiting for the new model that is never coming.

But hey. You keep waiting for that 3DS Lite if that's what you want to do. I just hope you brought some crossword puzzles or something because it's going to be a loooooooooooong wait.

My top reasons are the fact that the platform doesn't have enough games to make me want to play it. Isn't it funny how consoles get cheaper as they get more, and better, games? That's why I'm waiting for a while. I may not even ever get a 3DS, but I would like one some day.

The 3DS's problem is that it launched before some of the hyped up games for it were completed. Once those games are out sales are going to go up significantly.

Ahem...

3DS has no gaemz!!!1ONE

But in all seriousness, I am a Nintendo fan, and I realize that there is practically nothing worth buying except for two fighting games: SSF4, and DOA Dimensions. Also, the only core Nintendo game that is coming out in the near future is LOZ: Ocarina of Time 3DS, and that's not even trying to hide that it's a remake. I suppose Kid Icarus, Mario Kart 3DS, Star Fox 3DS, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, or even Metal Gear Solid will end up justifying the system, but those titles don't even have release dates. Shame on you Nintendo, for selling a product before it's even ready. At least the Wii had Twilight Princess.

Then number one reason I've not bought one? There's no guarantee the 3D works for me. Sure, 3D has probably come a long way, but when everyone was oohing and ahing in the Imax theater I was thinking about how lame it is and I can't even tell. I have 22/200 eyesight correctable to 20/30. Add in a constant micro-twitching that I've naturally compensated for with binocular vision the 3D just doesn't work for me.
Did you consider just turning the 3D off? Really, I'm amazed how many people say "I don't like 3D" as a reason for not buying it when you can turn the 3D off.

Anyway, once the hyped titles start coming out I predict sales will go up.

its a DS with 3D. its only good games at the moment are n64 games in 3d.

its nintendo trying to get me to buy the same thing twice; thats why i havent bought one yet, and why i probably never will. ive no interest in crappy, nauseating 3D, and with that being the only notable difference between the 3DS and the DS, it amazes me this handheld ever launched at all; the bloody DSi was more of an upgrade.

I'll get a 3DS when they put out a 3DS exclusive Pokemon game. That's really all I use my DS for. And at least my old DS Lite lets me still play Emerald and Leaf Green.
I still have my Tank. Yeah I call it my tank because its made of 100% pure nintendium and I have dropped it more times than I can count and its still working fine. That and its gray. My sisters DS lite however had the hinge break so she can barely use hers anymore.

I can see that the collective hive mind of Escapists hate the 3DS for one reason or another.

As for me, I can see that the 3DS has a lot of potential, but right now I haven't bought one for a single reason.

Price. And I don't mean the original price of $250, I mean the taxes and all that shit that my country loves to impose to electronics, raising the price to a whoping $500. Puh-leze, with that money I can buy my entire wishlist of GOG and even have money to buy some more.

I get it, the 3DS doesn't have the best battery Nintendo has ever done (sadly), wich in the end, I won't care, then there's the lack of games, wich I won't care too, because there's Street Fighter and Monkey Ball and yes, I know that Nintendo doesn't want you to have fun with their draconian Terms of Use, wich I don't care, because I won't be pirating the system.

Price is my only reason for not having one. Plain and simple.

Gee who would of thought a 250 dollar system with a bad gimmick and a library consisting of games we've already played before with some shoddy 3D slapped on wouldn't appeal to people. The sad part is I really don't see things getting better for the 3DS either.
How is that sad? You just stated above why it is failing and will continue to fail. That isn't sad, it's just bad planning.

"Remember those games you played and might even still own?! Drop $250 on this new system, plus the price of those games again, probably a higher price than you paid for them originally, TO PLAY THEM IN 3D!!!111!!!" No thanks.

...then why by a 3DS? That's like saying, "You know, you can buy a DVD/VHS player and not use the VHS part of it!" why would you do that though? You can get a perfectly good DVD only player for cheaper. In this instance, you can get a perfectly good DS with a much stronger line-up of games for cheaper.

The 3D gimmick got the following reaction from me:

"Huh... that's actually sort of neat."

Which, by itself, isn't enough to warrant me spending £150 on a new handheld. I would also have to keep my DS anyway because the 3DS lacks backwards compatibility.

The 3DS doesn't feel like an upgrade to me. It's almost like Nintendo is trying to compete with itself and failing.

If they don't stop soon, they're going to innovate themselves out of the market.

Well considering I only got a DS to play Pokemon games, I'll probably be getting one when a Pokemon game comes out on it. Hopefully by then I'll be able to afford one...

I agree with the first 8 (except for 4). I might even wait for the NGP instead (since I don't have a PS3), and my last-generation portables are good enough for me.

Talk about a big poo.
