Why haven't I bought a 3DS? Well apart from 3D being a gimmicky piece of shit I am one of the 12% of people who can't use 3D because I am long sighted and get a severe headache when I try. So why should I buy a console that's main selling point is something I can't use?
Can I just say while your point is completely valid you sound really, really bitter about it.

Like yourself I cannot see the 3D but I will still eventually get one since A. You can turn the 3D off and B. All the new games will be coming out for it rather than the original DS.

Mine's the garden variety "too expensive" reason. And if Nintendo is going to overcome the lack of backwards compatibility, it's going to have to start putting old titles on to the Shopping Channel for the Virtual Console.

I actually bought one, when I got some extra money a few weeks ago. There really are no games for it yet though. Nothing I saw on offer I wanted to buy, so for now I'll just have the console until games come out. Hopefully some will come that aren't just remakes of old games.

I'd buy it if it lost the region lock. I move between regions too often and buy region exclusive games far too often for a region locked handheld to be an even remotely feasible purchase for me.

I'm naturally a bitter person but yes I am slightly bitter over the fact that a mainstream media as of late has been coining this 3D crap like it's some brand new wonder gizmo that'll make all your dreams come true.

In truth I get really bitter if someone mentions 3D because I unconditionally hate it for no apparent reason other than I can't use it and it's being shoved in my face all the time.

I'll get a 3DS when they put out a 3DS exclusive Pokemon game. That's really all I use my DS for. And at least my old DS Lite lets me still play Emerald and Leaf Green.
Unless I am mistaken pokemon black and white make use of the 3d. Grey is just around the corner no doubt.

They make use of it, but it isn't 3DS exclusive. Why buy a new system for a game my DS Lite plays fine?

I would get it but I don't have money to waste, especially since my DSi is in perfect condition, I would still be using the first DS if it didn't break.

So what I gather is that most people are just waiting for the inevitable, revamped, lite version of this thing.

So the 3DS is doing badly apparently. Just...'how' badly are talking here??

Reasons I haven't bought one.

1) No games I want.
2) Not overly interested in 3D as a platform.
3) Costs more than I'd be willing to pay.
4) My eyesight is bad enough as it is without introducing new causes of eye strain.
5) Already own a DSlite which I hardly use because (see point 1)

It probably has something to do with the fact there really isn't really that great a line up of games worth buying the 3DS for.

Also, I refuse to buy one until the inevitable 'lite' version that has better screen resolution and longer battery life.
You took the words right out of my mouth.

I waited for the lite version of the original DS and haven't regretted it. That, and wait a couple more months for the console to go down in price before purchasing it. I rarely get consoles at launch, I would much rather wait until the majority of the bugs have been identified and fixed.

Because I can't play Master Quest yet?

If they would re-release Majora's Mask, I'd buy 2.

1. 3D is NOT a selling point for me. I've never been one to believe in the gimmick, and the 3DS demo I played irritated me that I couldn't even get the 3D functionality to work right.
2. Titles. Nothing hits me that I really want to play (even OoT, having run through that game more times than I can count comfortably). If Nintendo really wanted to remake a game I would want head-over-heels to play, and it had to be a Zelda title, then Link to the Past would have been one I would have jumped for joy over.
3. My current DS is just fine, runs great and I love the compactness and battery life.
4. Nintendo's penchant for releasing "new" DS handhelds like clockwork. Seriously, let people settle in before re-vamping what already works.

Well, let's see. My reasons are: lame launch titles, I'm broke, and 3D is a stupid gimmick.

exactly this.

I want games and a decent battery life.

And when I say games I mean a Pokemon title.
the closest thng theyve done so far is make a downloadable 3D augmented reality pokedex

I'm still waiting for the special pokemon edition ones

Then number one reason I've not bought one? There's no guarantee the 3D works for me. Sure, 3D has probably come a long way, but when everyone was oohing and ahing in the Imax theater I was thinking about how lame it is and I can't even tell. I have 22/200 eyesight correctable to 20/30. Add in a constant micro-twitching that I've naturally compensated for with binocular vision the 3D just doesn't work for me.

So I'm going to drop as much money on a handheld as I could for a refurbished PS3 from Gamestop and all the PS3 games that matter just to find out it doesn't work? No thanks. Also I think 3D is just making its round about trip on the popular trends track (again!) and when the bubble bursts this time, it's going to burst hard.

I know they're just going to release a better one later. And then an upgraded version of that as well. Right now I don't play enough portable games beyond my phone to make it worth it. I haven't touched my DS Lite in months, to be honest.

All I can say is "We'll know what's what in less than a week so chill the hell out people!"

Seriously though, the eShop and internet browsers are both launching, e3 is right around the corner, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if a new Pikmin or Pokemon announcement for the console came along with it.

Plus, we know the new Mario, Mario Kart, and Paper Mario installments may all come out this year, not to mention OOT, SF64, Cave Story, MGS, and any other "ports" that deserve recognition.

I only regret buying the console at launch instead of now considering the immediate price drop. Is it just me, or is the system going for $200 at some stores?

I don't like most of Nintendo's major game IPs. I think the PSP is more robust, easier on the eye and offers more than the 3DS.

I'm not too keen on the way it handles 3D angles, as well. It's really tiring, and if you don't have a 20/20 eyesight, prepare yourself for a nasty headache after some minutes.

EXACTLY. Did the survey have a "waiting till upgraded version comes out next year with a host of quality games from now till then out"? I'd tick that box. plus price...thats a heavy price.
Unfortunately, we're more likely to get a 3DS XL than a 3DS Lite. But hey, the battery would be bigger, right?
