Losing Jim Sterling will be a blow to this site, I mean I am already rethinking my commitment to being part of the Publisher Club.

If Uncivil War continues it might be okay, but somehow I doubt it's going to.

Jimquisition has been one of the milestones of the site, not coming here for it will be strange.
Also Jim no longer reviewing here, ugh that's not good.

Farewell, Jim. Hope that I can find you, wherever you'll hosting your stuff on the internet now. That's Jim Sterling, everyone; thank God for him.

I was expecting something like this to happen because he's come across as uncomfortable for a while now.

Not sure if I'm going to contribute to the patreon yet because the last two months has changed how I use the internet. There's a lot of black doors that folk want to paint pink and I'm having nothing to do with that so I'm going to wait and see.

Good luck Jim.

Huh, I wasn't expecting this turn out of events. However, I'l be glad to share some of my dough to keep our Jim well fed and let him continue making his..unique show.

Thank god for you Jim.

Might wanna whack this in there too [link]http://www.thejimquisition.com[/link] just for good measure

I came for Yahtzee and stayed for Jim. It'll be a bit of a bummer to see him go, but he wants to get back to his roots, (I think that's kinda what he's doing) something that'll probably make and his fans happy.

Thank god for Jim and for the lack of him, but separately. I always felt that Jim's obnoxiousness brought down the tone of the escapist and the escapist was holding back Jim's glorious obnoxiousness from truly annihilating his many foes in a righteous fury.
I wish them both happy, successful and separate lives.

Jim made the argument for me to join the publisher club, now The Escapist will have to work to get me to stay as a member

Where once he generally aimed his rants at the parts of the industry that needed a light shined on it, lately he just kinda snarks on people that he doesn't agree with. Which is sad.
When I read this it reads as,

"I used to agree with Jim and the stuff he complained about. Now I don't agree with stuff he complains about."
Believe me, there are plenty of people who felt Jim was an advocate of consumer rights and still disagreed with him on certain topics. I even defended him on points that I explicitly disagreed with.

Right now he just disappoints me.

I've never needed someone to point out that harassment, sexism and bullying is wrong, nor have I ever needed someone to point out the EA, Ubisoft and Activision are shit

But at the very least his rants seemed heartfelt, best of luck to him

When Jim first showed up on this site, he was such a breath of fresh air to me. He was the first content deliverer since Yahtzee in his early days that took no guff and said what was on his mind and he often would come out and say just the same thing I was thinking just with more pizazz.

Unfortunately, in the last few months I've seen his show steer away from his pro-consumer ideals and more towards just ripping on bad games and ripping on groups of people with absolutely no show of guile. It's actually gotten to a point where once I eagerly looked forward to Tuesday mornings because I could watch the latest Jimquisition before work to me just... well not bothering to watch them because I know he's just gonna be snarky towards a portion of his audience.

And I know part of his persona is to be snarky but recently it just hasn't been the same. Where once he generally aimed his rants at the parts of the industry that needed a light shined on it, lately he just kinda snarks on people that he doesn't agree with. Which is sad.

I'm happy for him that he's going his own way, I truly think that a voice like his needs to be freed of the constraints of a boss/editor. But unless he kinda turns himself around and makes a return to the Jim that I used to love to watch, I may just end up finding my pro-consumer voice elsewhere. It's actually a rather similar situation that I had with Moviebob, whose content I boycott entirely now.

Anyway, I wish Jim the absolute best of luck with his future endeavors and Thank God for the years of entertainment that he has provided for me.
Kinda silly maybe, but I just wanted to point out how much I like this post. It pretty much sums up my feelings about Jim as of late and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to notice. I think a lot of it has to do with the growing popularity of his YouTube Channel, where he gets quite a bit of attention trashing games and picking on low hanging fruit on Steam. It kinda spilt into the Jimqusitoin, which is a shame. That's not why I initially liked watching Jim and I still can't fully get behind his ideas about Steam curation.
Seconded.

I will, however, miss the mentions of dragon dildos.

While I've been less than thrilled with him lately, I do hope the jerk'll be all rig-

Jim had a "milestone goal" of raking in $6,000 a month (that makes $72,000 a year) to keep up his new endeavor. This used to show up in his Patreon page or whatever you call it. However he has since edited that bit of information. I quote:

Edit: I have removed the milestone, because while it was consistent with the money I was making previously, it was making people scratch heads, and goes against the "pay what you want" idea. So, no milestones at all!

- He was making about 72,000 a year?

Fuck me. He'll be fine.

Hell, that's more than my 20-30-year college professor father was making prior to retirement, only a couple years back, by about 10 grand.

So, this was basically the last bit of Escapist content I watched and the forums seem to be flooded with nothing but sexism threads.

Might be time to abandon ship for a couple of months, adios!

Welp. That's all my reasons to visit The Escapist gone. The front page makes my eyes bleed, The forum here is despicable, Zero Punctuation hasn't been funny for quite some time, LRR is mainly on youtube and now I can watch Jim Fucking Sterling Son elsewhere. Ciao Escapist!

God damn Jim, I like you and I'll try to follow off-site but I suspect as with Extra Credits three years ago, I'll slip off the bandwagon without a weekly reminder. As much as I enjoy your videos, I don't think there's enough of a USP to stump up monthly on Patreon.

Speaking of Extra Credits, I have what might be a naive question...
Since the Escapist is under new management since that debacle, what are the chances of them coming back here?
Just a thought.

Jim left? What happened to Uncivil War?

That means I'm only here for Yahtzee. If he decides to jump ship, or stop, then I'm leaving the Escapist. The forum has just been getting more poisonous and the articles they release just aren't very good.

I also don't care about Disney Princesses. But since ZP is on Youtube, it might just be easier to go there and get it all together.

Good bye, Escapist.
