Wait, isn't playing a game with totally unsuited controlers a sign of the TRUE hardcore?
Like, Modern Warfare on the Wii, can it get any harder?
I've played Tekken with DDR mats before. So silly, so much fun.

OT - Yeeaaaaaahhh, no, sorry Mr. Tsunoda but...

OK, I was on the fence there for a little bit, but after reading this I do actually want the Kinect to fail epicly. At first I thought maybe Kudo knew something no one else did in predicting how well the Kinect would do. Now I know he's full up to his eyebrows with his own $h!t and has no real grasp of what gamers are playing. A hex on you, Microsoft, and your crappy no-button motion controller.

wasn't it not too long ago that MS revealed that cross platform multiplayer was a consideration until it was realized that mediocre PC FPS player with a Keyboard mouse setup mopped the floor with the best dual analog using console players\?

Microsoft's Kudo Tsunoda says "hardly anyone" plays shooters on the PC anymore because Halo [http://www.amazon.com/Halo-Reach-Xbox-360/dp/B002BSA20M/ref=sr_1_1?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285002869&sr=8-1] did such a great job of making the genre "all about the console."

Motion controls have a well-established reputation as just the thing for popping balloons or squeezing in some Pilates before the kids get home, but how they'll fare in the hands of core gamers remains to be seen. One of the potential stumbling blocks, Tsunoda told GameInformer [http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/09/18/-Talking-Kinect-With-Kudo.aspx], is that simply grafting a motion control setup onto existing games doesn't add up to a great gaming experience.

"You see a lot of motion control games that put the motion technology into a random game and that isn't the way to make an awesome experience," he said. "If you think about the way that first person shooters evolved, they started on the PC. People for the longest time tried to port shooters from the PC onto the console. And people said the same things that they are saying now about Kinect - 'It's never going to be responsive enough to do this,' or 'You're never going to get a fun first person shooter on the console - it's only made for a keyboard and mouse and that is the way it is supposed to be played.' And as long as everyone was just porting the existing shooters over to console, they weren't as fun as the PC ones. Of course, they were built for the PC."

It's a perfectly reasonable position to take: An optimized experience requires optimized controls. But then he went further.

"Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first person shooters on the PC anymore," he continued. "It's all about the console."

That strikes me as somewhat less reasonable. Dubious, even. Valve seems to be doing reasonably well with mouse-and-keyboard edition [http://www.amazon.com/Team-Fortress-2-Pc/dp/B00140S21O/ref=sr_1_1?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285003045&sr=8-1]. Tsunoda's point about Kinect may be valid, but his comments about PC shooters? Probably not so much.

got 1 thing to say to Kinect man...

Their are still may people playing FPS games on the PC, some of them may not be the newest, but they are STILL played.

Good thing about PC FPS games, they have a LONG life span, seen as though new computers don't need Backwards compatibility, unlike consoles...

wow it's not like me to defend PC, seen as though im a console gamer, but seriously!

....I think he's trolling the gaming world. Seriously, it's getting a little insulting now. It seems that Microsoft is just treating their fanbase as rubbish to aim at the people who buy Kinect.

Personally, I hope the Kinect and Move fall flat on their faces. Kinect mainly, but I wouldn't mind Move dying as well.

From the Steam page:

66,415 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Multiplayer
65,164 Counter-Strike: Source
61,036 Counter-Strike
17,888 Football Manager 2010
13,746 Team Fortress 2
10,053 Left 4 Dead 2

That's not quite in line with his statements.

And it also scares me that 1.6 is still so popular.
Halo Reach. 734,000. Obviously 60,000 people is nothing to shake a stick at, but by comparison all of those games don't add up to one xbox game. So not hardly anyone by any means... but definitely fewer than there should be.
You realize that Halo: Reach just came out. Give us the numbers a year from now, then we will see. The fact that people still even play CODMW2 on PC is staggering really. If I'm not mistaken there are actually more COD4 players anways.

The rest of the games on that list are over a year old, some even 7+ years old.

Not to mention that is only the numbers from people who play it from steam so COD:MW numbers are higher then that

Yeah halo just came out... but mw2 on Xbox has around 200000-300000 people playing at all times. Granted I'm extremely happy that counter strike is still doing so well it's an amazing game. There are still many more people playing consoles... not that that's a good thing.

To say nothing of earlier CoD Games, and other games that aren't through Steam (Arma, Stalker etc...).
did a bit of poking around

MW2 sales breakdown:
Around 55% of sales are on Xbox 360, 33% on PS3 and the remaining 12% on PC

so 1 out of every 10 is minor if the game is on all 3 of the platforms

These clowns think that by announcing something, that makes it true.

He knows it's not true, but he also knows that plenty of people have no idea whether it's true, and if he claims it's true, a number of those will just assume he's right.

It's pretty much the same philosophy as that of the republican party.
lol please don't get politics into this. Really anyone who compares this dumbass to one side of the political spectrum is just being completely biased. Liberals say the same stupid things. Ok, done with the politics.

Where'd you get these numbers? NPD?

just off an article for day 1 sales figures so the % breakdowns are a ballpark
