Didn't Ubisoft say there would be a Assasin's Creed announcement this year?

And wouldn't this make a great PR stunt, what with taking the villain in the game and applying them to a real-world current day situation that gamers would disagree with?

Also, wasn't there a theory that AC3 would take place in WW2 era Germany?

Hmm...

Wow.

See, I thought it was going to be the Knights Templar complaining that they're always the bad guys in video games. Instead, it's a splinter group that wants to ban any violent video game.

Reality is... much less interesting than what I pictured. Oh well.

Someone get Ezio and Altair on the line, quick.
Actually, we'd be stuck with Desmond.
Wait... The games "take place" (The present in the AC universe anyways) in roughly 2012 with some big catastrophic event...
THE AC GAMES ARE REAL!

a branch of the Knights Templar Bundestag
Oi mate,
the Bundestag is the German Parliament, not part of the name of the Knights Templars.
Thou shall not trust Google Translation.
"Bundestag" means "parliament", right? so could the "Knights Templar Bundestag" be some kind of governing council for the boys in tin hats that has nothing to do with the German Government proper?

The fact that they still exist confounds me...Can't the pope like disband them again. I personally don't know much about templars other than what I've learnt in college and we were focused on crusades, so I'm wondering why they were disbanded in the first place, TO WIKIPEDIA!
The templars themselves were disbanded, their numerous fronts weren't.

Well that's a bit fail on the pope behalf.

Anyone can claim that the organisation they are in is the official knights templar, after all the name is not copyright and there are no original members left to complain.

Actually, the translation for "parliament" would be "Parlament".
"The Bundestag" is the name of the German parliament, not a translation of the word.
The thing is that the Google translation engine has a tendency to lump names together when they occur in the same sentence, even if the names are for two distinct entities in the original sentence.

You know, I have come to realize something. Violent video games do not lead to violence, rather the threat of banning violent video games leads to violence.

Ah, the foibles of machine translation. Thanks for clarifying.

And that's why life in Germany never gets boring. Have a bratwurst and a beer to try and digest the ever increasing stupidity surplus.

...This is the same institution that used to kill people for a living in a violent crusade?

Pardon me if I feel they lack some credibility.

as a German i have to clarify that these guys have nothing to do with the Knights Templar, they are a newly formed ecumenical Order and part of an international Network (Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani). Reason for this is that the Name of the Knights Templar isn't properly protected by copyrights. This is in contrast to the real Knightly (Military) Orders (Teutonic, Saint John etc.), who still exists up to today...

Haha true and it's always done in ways that could sound like it's the games fault for the violence xD

Oh please Escapists, this is not the real Templar organization. Do you honestly think that the Templars, if they HAVE managed to remain secret for centuries, and still exist, would suddenly resurface...to ban some bloody violent video games.
This is just a group of people stealing their name, and are shaming the greatness that comes with the word "Templar".

Well with German blood in my body,

I want you all to picture being German, knowing your parents we not part of the Nazi party, and every video game and their dog using Nazi's as targets.

Not very far from "Hey everyone it's ok to kill Germans!!!! Go gettum!"

And yeah they do need some positive influences. This is why Germany barely equaled Japan after WW2 rebuilding. They never really did have a chance to take off the Nazi label and the whole West and East Berlin bit had them in the middle of a cold war.

Let them move on, and so should we eh?
