Good on them. The Diablo 3 server issues are unforgivable at this stage, and if evidence is turned up to support notion that Blizzard purposely didn't set up enough servers, then I hope they get their ass kicked in court.

this is just as bad as the bullshit about the me3 ending when will it end.
Except this actually protects consumer rights as opposed to trying to make a game ending not suck.
the right to be assholes are the only rights i see being protected these days
That is a right just like any other but if you buy something than you fucken expect it to work so they have every right to complain about this and if you don't agree then you shouldn't complain about their complaining.
so if i don't agree with bullshit i should just stick my head in the ground?
How is wanting a game to work bullshit?
the thing is the game does work just because you live where there is a lousy connection doesn't change that basic
Actually south Korea has better internet speed and coverage then we do here in the states, the argument from the story isn't about personal connection speed or anything, its about an investigation into if blizzard purposely didn't buy enough servers to accommodate most of the people wanting to play.
so blizzard gets screwed because people are butthurt about the lack of servers
Yes.

People buy a game, and wish to play it. They cannot, and IT IS BLIZZARD'S FAULT.

So yes, screw Blizzard.

Or have you forgotten that Diablo 3 needs a server connection to play in single-player?
what about ubisoft when they did it they never got treated this way people were angry but they never went this far so what makes daiblo 3 and blizzard so damn different
The hell? I couldn't stop trumpeting about how much I DESPISED Ubisoft for it and how they could burn in hell, and a lot of others supported me on it.

And then multiple times, the servers went down and everyone went absolutely berserk.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98927-Ubisoft-DRM-Authentication-Servers-Go-Down

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/115635-Ubisoft-Games-Unplayable-During-Server-Switch

In fact, enough people BAAAAAAW'd about it that they repealed the DRM from "From Dust".

So you're just... wrong.
did they cry to the government about it at the time like these people are doing

seems like bullshit and overkill
The difference is that at least Ubisoft had the decency to fix it within a week or so.

This has gone on for nearly three. At what point of brokenness with no refund would you allow people to finally sue for their money?

Also, if you don't think that people were complaining to authorities about Ubisoft, you've clearly never heard of the BBB. People have been complaining all right.

Also, there's something called "Exponential Fury". Being spat upon once is upsetting, being spat upon twice is much more so.

Because you're next. And if not the government, who will defend your rights then?
When this turns out in Blizzard's favor, abusive practices escalate.
Next week YOU won't be able to access servers. Then what will you say?
Cause I guarantee it won't be, "Well, just my luck. Can't use a product I legally purchased. My fault for buying."
You will be here, bitching and whining as though you never liked Blizzard in the first place. And before you even think about telling me that I don't know you or anything about you: I DO know you. There ain't a whole hell of a lot of personality types in the world and I've seen them all.

I don't give a fuck if you want to continue to blow them, but DO NOT come here and pretend like it's our fault, or that it's nothing to do with Blizzard's practice. You want to fellate them? Do it on their message boards. In these parts we tend to give a fuck when a company gets away with abusive practices.
You don't have to care, but don't you DARE try to defend them to us you corporate schill.
you can't know what people will do like that. trust me this world isn't as black and white as you like to think it is

I can tell you right now, if I were the head of Blizzard and was forced to refund all those butthurt whiners, it would be the last bit of business I'd ever do in Korea.
Which is why you're not the head of Blizzard. South Korea is one of the two countries you should be working your ass off to please, seeing how one of your games is their unofficial national sport.

Sure, you can refuse to acknowledge your screw-ups and haughtily withdraw all business from the one country that has nearly religious devotion to one of your franchises... but again, that's why you're not the head of Blizzard.

Not particularly empathetic, are you?

Anyways, you should care because it's Blizzard, who used to be a bastion of high quality entertainment, starting a record of selling damaged goods and refusing to refund them. We're getting on your case because you don't seem to recognize this and keep posting anyways.

So basically your argument is that somebody else not being satisfied with poor business practices isn't important and the person shouldn't be angry about it, because you personally haven't experienced the problems that they're facing?

"First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me."

I wish you the best of luck the day that you're actually affected by shitty business practices and want other people to care that you're pissed about it. The only problem is, I'm pretty sure you're already being affected by these shitty business practices - You're just choosing to shove your head in the sand and pretend that everything is well and good, when it's really not.

Enjoy your diablo 3!

Wait, the product doesn't work, it's clearly not the customers' fault, and therefore the customers are assholes?

If the refunds happen, I'll be happy. Consumer rights in the game industry would be a nice change of pace.
so if it doesn't work for some people the rest of us need to get our knickers in a bunch. if that's the way it is then the games that don't get translated are in the same boat
So, let's take a leap and make an anology to the food industry. Let's say a company knowingly puts out salmonella infected canned chili. Some people get sick from the batch and some people don't. You're essentially saying that those who didn't get infected should point and laugh at the people who did, and now have to front the medical bills and whatever else, while the company frolics away without any sort of consequences.

Oddly, even though the comparisons seem rather different, they're very similar. Both put out defective products, and both cause the customers to pay money and, in essence, get punished for it while the company who put the defective product on the market doesn't have to do anything. Which is absolutely ridiculous, and exactly why I'm happy to see this happening. Hopefully it (and by this I mean the investigation) spreads to other countries.

Then why comment at all if you don't care?
Apathy has no position to defend.

Nevermind that your first comment on the matter was comparing this to the controversy of ME3; so clearly you had some sort of stake in commenting on the reaction of the *customers*.

Which contradicts what you just said.

EDIT: Now I see your motivation quite clearly. Given your decided lack of refutation for nearly every point that gets brought up, I can only assume you're just commenting to piss people off.

Typical.

Not only is this the silliest copout I've ever heard (seeing how this logic applies bloody everywhere), but you just confirmed that you actually don't give a damn one way or the other, so you should probably just stop talking.

If you pick sides entirely based on how badly you'll be berated, then A. you've made a terrible decision in this thread, and B. your opinions are worthless.

Just to answer this, off my head of games that do not require always online and are good / critically acclaimed.

Metal Gear Series.
Half Life Series.
Portal Series.
Left 4 Dead series.
Max Payne series.
Amnesia: the Dark Descent.
Mario series.
Mega Man series.
Castlevania series.
Final Fantasy series.
Doom series.
Duke Nukem series except for Forever.
Serious Sam series.
Total War series.
Civilization series.
And finally Sonic the Hedgehog series.

Take your fucking pick. And yes, your bending over, head first and are doing what a customer who is ignoring facts should, blindly defending their loving company despite glaring flaws.

Hopefully more developers will realize that this DRM bullshit just doesn't fly with the proper cases in hand.

Guys, you might as well ignore Tony2077. He's either trolling or has his fingers so far in his ears going 'nah-nah, not listening' you're not going to change his mind. You get fanboys like him sometimes and there's just no real dealing way of them except ignoring them.
