I thought Indy 4 was shitty compared to the first three, maybe a tiny part of it was LaBeouf's fault, much of it was the fact that it was poorly written and silly. Dpn't see why the guy's giving himself such a hard time about it though. That's like saying it was Dennis Hopper's fault Super Mario Bros. was shite.

I found the plot to be the bad part, labeouf did ok for the role written.

This statement from him makes me worry about the wall street remake though.

Meh I thought it was ok. But Shia does need to stay away from the internet for a while. If a film has even the tiniest bit of nostalgic appeal about it there will be forums of whinny, tearful, pubbies bawwing their hearts out about how it's "killed their childhood" Quite pathetic really.

To agree with everyone else, it was the mind-numbingly stupid plot and writing that screwed over Indy 4. I have never minded LeBeouf's acting.

To be honest, while his character royally pissed me off and kind of killed the plot with Marion in Raiders, it was the incredibly dumb scenes and situations that they put Indy in that stuck out as out of place considering the other movies.

Plus the fact that the plot seemed implausible and stupid. I mean,
That whole alien thing seemed really dumb. Sure, things like the Ark and the Holy Grail were supernatural, but by creating an intergalactic story that seemed extremely out of place, they turned what should have been the revival of classic action into a third-rate sci-fi movie for a good ten minutes. Also, you'd think that at least one person would claim to have seen the UFO but get shot down by shady government officials.

Yup.... thats about it

Well Im glad to see some honesty coming out of Hollywood these days. Kudos to him.

But honestly, I dont think he is the reason it received such harsh criticism. Writing and directing are the main problems in my opinion.

(Im stealing moviebobs thing and putting this up.)

Semi-difficult discussion incoming.

See, the other three Indy movies had a healthy dose of fictional content. like mind control and some guy ripping anthers heart out like he was just reaching into a goody bag for a prize. This one, instead of following its predecessors and gently setting realism aside in its own little corner to amuse itself, decided that it would be better to just punch it in the face and throw it out the nearest window. This is not good film making people. You have to work within the confines of your own material. Would lord of the rings looked cool with lightsabers? and x-wings instead of dragons? Who knows, but it certainly does nothing good for the quality of the movie in terms of plot, setting, flow, pacing, mood etc

He didn't help things very much, but he certainly wasn't the biggest problem for the movie. Not by a long shot.

I've got one word for you: aliens.

Not enough for you? Here's another: refrigerator.

Also, it's not his fault that the monkey swinging scene was shit. No one could make that scene work. Sean Connery, Patrick Stewart, and Bruce Campbell spliced together couldn't make that scene work.

Hell, if he REALLY wants to apologize for something why not Transformers 2?
He didn't apologize, but he did say he didn't like it. [http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/shia-labeouf-confused-by-transformers_1137755]

I liked some of his earlier work...
Holes (obscure-ish PG rated movie) was actually fairly good, and I'd say he acted his role really well, the nerdish, semi-stupid misfit

I totally agree!

Anyways, I don't really like LaBeouf or his acting. It's nice to see him admit this though.

I've never liked Shia LeBeouf before, but I have a bit of respect for him now.

At least he can identify his own failings. Theres plenty of bad actors/writers/directors out there who would never do what he did.

For some reason, people find it so hard to admit that their shitty job was shitty. Theres too many cases of people just outright declaring their work "too ahead of its time" when it turns out to be horrible.

And Shia has just slagged off two of the biggest films he's been in and gave him a name. I can see a career going into freefall.
Check your reading comprehension. He's not slagging off the writers or producers or co-stars, he's slagging off himself. He's not burning any bridges and if anything this will only improve hollywood relations. Compare his reaction to Megan Fox's; she made comments about Michael Bay focusing too much on explosions and the like, Shia says that the movie was bad because he couldn't act good enough to carry it. One is egotistical, the other is self-depreciating.

How do you not hate Attack of the Clones? It's one of the worst movies ever.
People really overuse that phrase. It makes them sound like whinny fanboys or people who avoid the worst movies of all time.

I quite enjoyed the movie, I just tend to gloss over the "I hate sand" parts. When you blot the worst bits of that movie out of your perception the quality of the movie goes up.

I liked it (I didn't even blink at the infamous fridge scene), but I wish they had gone for the demonic instead of the supernatural finale. (Demons melting faces? Cool. Aliens exploding heads? Meh.)

Personally... I have mixed feelings about LaBeouf in general. I know that in Transformers it was largely a fault of the idiots who wrote the thing, but it was also not a role that the guy really felt right in. I also don't care much for the guy as a person from what I've seen of other things he's said and done off screen.

I also don't know why people keep shoveling blame onto Megan Fox, because from what I saw, she was by far not the reason Transformers 2 sucked. In fact, I thought they just stuck her in a few scenes to say "look, it's Megan Fox, like our movie" or something. I like her, but I can't say for better or for worse what I think of her in general.

On the topic of Indy 4? I actually didn't even realize it was him who played in it until I'd seen Transformers. I don't think it was really all his fault that the movie wasn't as good as it coulda been. I still liked it a lot. I blame Lucas, because the guy clearly can't make movies anymore. The New Trilogy shoulda been proof of that.
