The vulgarity turns up 20 fold and it becomes a nightmarish scene similar to that of a lone woman walking down middle row in between prison blocks. Yes, LoLers can be compared to prisons in vulgarity and social disgust.


O.T. I think their wording is wrong on this and they went to broad with the regulation. I completely understand that they don't want teams filled with males identifying as females or post-op sex changed males either. They want a tournament for women to be strictly for women and not male dominated through circumstances (i.e. extreme circumcision)

The reason is because there are barely any female players in the tournament leagues. Pretty much 0 in the world championships, so pretty much the idea was probably to get more women involved in pro play.

As a man and as a "LoLer" that sort of blanket statement doesn't help. If you want to go after a group of men that think its okay to sexually harass females attack the actual offenders themselves instead of ALL of the League community (which includes a massive number of women). For example; that evil man child Aris Bakhtanian is a sexist prick and anyone that thinks his views are okay is as bad as he is.

Same reason why Usain Bolt can't say he identifies as a woman and then set sprinting records that no woman is capable of beating.

While I'm not denying that there may be differences in base psychological and mental performances between males and females, I highly doubt that they'd be on the same level as that of the physical differences between them. There is no valid reason why trans people should not be able to compete in mental challenges (Which games basically are) against members of the sex they identify as.

Which would exclude transwomen who choose not to or have not yet undergone genital reconstruction, and provide an entry for transmen and any bloke with severe damage to their genitals. Which defeats the point of a women-only tournament.

Not to mention that essentially asking people to show you their junk so you can check their gender is a breach of privacy and an all-around awful thing to do.

Because, as has been previously mentioned, the LoL pro-scene has a tiny amount of female players. All-feminine tournaments are an attempt to give more exposure to female LoL gamers to hopefully lead to an increase in the amount of female pro-gamers.

And thus the pro-scene remained 100% male. The End. For some people diversity is something to be valued, and so they want to give it a bit of a push. In an ideal world this isn't needed (or to go the other way: no one would give a damn), but these guys want to. After all, if women truly can play on the same level as everyone else, and these Iron Solari tournaments along whatever else slowly help in getting good female players into high elo then any need for these sort of tournaments will be gone.

On February 22nd I'll be watching the stream (there's gotta be one) even if it's just to unfavorably compare them to better teams. And to check if anyone's hot.

EDIT: To save you the trouble of going through the article for the part that I'm talking about, the sample used for the study is the list of ranked members from the German chess federation. It's used due to both it's size and because of how nearly all of it's activities are taken into account for the purposes of rating chess players, putting nearly every competetive and hobby player in the country on that ratings list.

In Germany alone, out of a total of 120,399 players, 7013 are female and 113,386 are male. That's a ratio of 16 men to every women on the list. It's a rather bad example for indicating intellectual prowess when only 5,8% of your chosen audience is female.

I mean, is it discriminating transgenders if the purpose is to give focus and attention to female gamers? Where does a person put the line in where one is a man or a woman? That is some hard to figure out shit, I guess something like this would be bound to happen.

I dont know, I still think that this kind of stuff doesnt need an all-feminine tournament, those that play probably already play on their own teams and the ones that dont play but could be interested in playing probably watch these tournaments anyway and probably already follow them on their own teams.

I dont think that making an all-feminine tournament, something that by default is about not letting a certain group play, will help in anything when they want to be inclusive, especially when there are people that are hard to figure out if they do or not belong in that group.

And the "unfair advantage" argument from the people there gave me a chuckle, people in tournaments are so insecure.

It is a competitive game in western nations and the pro leagues are open for men and women alike. Problem is that women just don't compete. The LoL circuit has, to my knowledge, never had a single female pro. I'm sure the reasons for that are complicated and many. So the idea to make female-only tournaments as a springboard into the competitive scene is a good one, in my opinion.
