This shit is still going on? Seriously mods, if this were a thread about console tards, you would have locked the thread and/or handed out warnings/suspensions to the poster and some of the involved. Yet I don't see it ever happening. Way to be impartial.

You're seriously implying that Escapist, the site which hosts a pundit who did a show that said "Consoles are just crap PC's" is really biased towards console users?

1) They are. It's fact, not opinion.

2) He doesn't start 100 threads a week making sweeping generalizations about a whole group based on the minority.

3) You must have not watched his video or totally missed the point. He was making the point that the supposed advantages of having a console of the old days are disappearing and adopting the downsides of PC gaming without any of the benefits. It wasn't an attack on you or any other console player, but a simple statement of fact.

4) Mods will allow threads like these to exist unpunished but immediately knock down anyone make the opposite thread. How often do you see some elitist PC gamer making a thread about how you're a stupid child versus the number of threads like these? Basically it's ok to attack a group as long as it's "PC elitists". Any other group "Hey there, THAT'S NOT NICE" /ban. They're inconsistent with their "don't be a jerk" policy.

Finally, chill the hell out. I can't understand for the life of me why you're taking all this so personally. Your jimmies are unnecessarily rustled over basically nothing. The weirdest thing that they say, from my point of view, is the overpriced games part. I understand that PC gaming has its advantages, but from a financial standpoint (speaking as a married father of two with a very low gaming budget), it seems like PC gaming is actually MORE expensive, due to the fact that almost every 6 months you have to update your system to play the newer games, and I can play a PS3 for years, or the WiiU (again, family man, we have a Wii for the kids to play, and thus already have four controllers for the next system to save me that $200+, lol) and still have games that they make for the console for years and years.

I do, all the time. It's called ignorant hate filled people, particularly on this site, who sling around the word elitist simply because some people have an appreciation for computer hardware on the enthusiasts level.

How do you think I feel when someone like the OP starts with sweeping generalizations about the people who share my particular hobby like they're the plague of the earth? I'm certainly not happy with it, especially considering how easy it is to get away with it on the escapist. Yet despite all that, I don't go on a post rampage.

If you honestly believe that, you must be completely ignorant. Upgrades are only necessary every couple of years if you want peak performance, but even that's pushing it. Current generation hardware can go well over 4-5 years, or longer, without needing to change anything.

Let's not forget that you still own a PC which on it's own has more versatility than modern consoles.

P.S. In my defense- I meant it at level of economical slavery (you owe someone money, but can't return it so you become his slave for a time). It is one of forms that originated slavery and I consider it the most acceptable form of slavery (since you become slave through your actions, not because you were born, tricked or overpowered).

great for you? Again, I do not care how more 'economic' it is, I'm still sinking money I do not have into a machine for the sole purpose of gaming, when I already have a gaming console. Why should I play a port when the original is on the system I already own?

My Daddy wants to buy me a gaming laptop so we can play GW II together, and if so then fine, I'll play it with him, but that's the only reason I'd get a gaming laptop/computer: to play with my friends.

Oh god... I really hate Jims show sometimes. The sheeple are coming out everytime he says something and repeat it like it is universal truth. It happened to me because I see "whining" from gamers as the lowest form to state criticism and that this kind of behaviour should be ignored by the industry. Haven't you seen the early videos? Accusations of trying too hard to be Yahtzee or trying to usurp Extra Credits from people who have no idea who he actually was. Fact is, that man had been presenting arguments like a boss even before Jimquisition (as a show here in The Escapist) was an idea. Look for his older articles in Destructoid and see what I mean.

As for the topic at hand...

So many games to play (on my PC), books to read, models to build and money to make... I have no time to care. I suggest you do the same.

On the other hand, now they actually have personality. I liked the old fluff, but the new fluff is probably cooler IMO (if a bit unsubtle).

Also, I've beaten them plenty of times with my Tau/BAs alliance, and just pure BAs before then in 5th ed. It's not that hard, you just kill the fuckers until they get the message.

And Ward isn't meant to be touching the new Tau codex.

Necrons were meant to be silent robots who were a husk of life, berift of personality. I prefered them when all they did was harvest. If they made it a little better than just copy and paste a fantasy book then I wouldn't mind.

Also I played them once and won. My Dark Reaper Exarch flattened around 8 warriors a turn.

"Silent robots who were a husk of life, bereft of personality" was cool for a while, but it also made them kinda bland - after all, we already had a horde of personality-less omnicidal evil things (the Nids, whose current codex is incidentally tragically underpowered). Now the Necrons are at least a tad more unique within the 40k universe - not quite so much like an army of Terminator-expies.

Can't wait for the new Tau codex, though. I hope they give Crisis suits more anti-MEQ weapons than just plasma rifles - after all, they have a ridiculous amount of awesome anti-horde weapons but only really one way to counter Marines.

What? That's rubbish. You should only be having to upgrade every 3-4 years MAX (you could easily run most games nowadays with a 4 year old system that was mid-range at the time of purchase) with these overly long console cycles.

Let me break it down for you.. many people NEED computers, whether it be for work, emails, internet usage etc. Now, add $300-400 to that cost, and you can get your self a decent mid-range PC that will last you for quite a while, and you can do a helluva lot more than play games on it.

Or you can pay $300 for an archaic, underspecced, closed source system, which you aren't allowed to modify, and if you want to get the full experience (seeing as most systems don't have anywhere near enough exclusives on their own to justify them as your sole gaming machine), you have to buy 3 consoles, each at $200-300, and with $60 games at launch.. unless you buy them secondhand in which case you can't play online, or some other bullshit like that.

I'm a PC only gamer, and mostly because I can't afford spending $300+ dollars on ancient hardware solely dedicated to playing videogames, to play games at 720p with shitty textures, with many games dumbed down to accommodate the fact that your average controller only has 11 buttons.

I'll stick with my previous replies to such threads: Stop putting gamers into categories of consoles and PC-gamers, and stop working on the assumption that because you meet arseholes on both sides that either sides are all twats.

Sure, the PC may have advantages but so does the console. They both have different strong-sides and trying to sit oneself firmly in one camp and argue against the other is just stupid. People enjoy different things. People should just deal with it.

And no, I dont think there is some sort of plot against you by PC-gamers, and if you honestly think that the "gaming community" is against you for just using a console, you're paying WAY too much attention to the occassional douchebag.

Personally, until there is a way to get a 32+ inch HD screen to compress into a carryable size and weight, Console gaming is invincible. There will always be guys like me who think True HD on a 60" TV is better than Semi-HD gaming on a 17" Screen. (My laptop does 1080p, but if my graphics settings have to be reduced to prevent lag, I am not running true HD, am I?)

Besides, it was just two years ago that "PC Gaming was dying!"

I sincerely hope you are trolling, this is what gets people to call people who play on consoles idiots. Most games don't have the capability on the console to produce anything more than 720p hd due to the hardware. Turning down your graphics also does not turn down the pixelation unless you specifically reduce screen resolution in the game options menu, rather than turning down particle effects, AA, post processing etc, or the HZ that your monitor runs in. Also TVs are different and inferior (for games) to computer monitors in terms of latency (which is a HUGE deal in multiplayer games) and the amount of resolution you can get at max for one of them today (apposed to over 2000 by 1600 in Computer Monitor world) However computer monitors because of latency and quality to show text are more expensive and smaller (size).

OT: I recently stopped using my playstation, not because it's a bad machine, or because the players are stupid....well the last one is debatable, any COD games have their share of stupid.
I just find it easier to use my pc, I can download all of my games, which is nice because biking six miles to gamestop is on my weekly to do list.

Now, on the subject of these people that believe they're the 'PC gaming master race' they're idiots, thinking they're better than someone because they like something else, right guys.

I can't be too sure why. From what I observed, some people are so into their preferences that they will use them as a weapon. Again I don't see the point. I'm of the mindset that you can be proud of your preferences within a varied medium, such as gaming, without conflict or disdain for the other aspects of that medium.

I think you don't understand argument here
On the software level you are right, games are games, and we all are playing games not MS Excel spreadsheets.

It is the hardware level where things get messy (at least for me, maybe I am minority amongst PC gamers)
Because consoles are slavery
While slavers have done few magnificent things (Pyramids, Coliseum, etc.), I don't like slavery.
Similarly with consoles- few good things, have plenty of bad counterparts.
Want to modify your console? You aren't allowed, because you only borrowed it from MS/Sony/Nintendo.

That may be true, but if that's how you feel, then don't get a console. Some people just want to play games and that's it. I just don't get why others get so wrapped up telling them they made the "wrong" choice.

Gamers are divided enough as it is already, we don't need to keep adding fuel to that fire.
