Leave me alone PC gamers!

Short of it: there's always a vocal minority on either side who do this, best thing to do is acknowledge the fact that they're being a little bit silly and enjoy your choice.

As a 'casual' PC and Xbox 360 gamer, I've got to say that despite noticing differences in sensitivity when playing FPS' and the ease of key bindings in RTS' - I really don't prefer one over the other, I just deal with the shortcomings and enjoy the game on either platform.

Eh, the main reason why ya might 'prefer' consoles is their longevity, having foolishly bought a high powered laptop, not being able to play the newest games kinda annoys me.

Off topic, but isn't that like the entire point of Christianity? That all humans have to repent the original sin or something?

Giving any value to YouTube comments renders your point of view faulty.

Well it goes both ways, latest I've been involved was the Borderlands 2 thing wehere console and PC gamers argued over wether PC version of the game looks better than console ones, it clearly does and it's not just because me or any other PC gamer says so but it was also long ago stated in the love letter thingy from claptrap to PC gamers. And if it were just up to me or my PC gaming friends we would have left it there that PC version looks slightly better but no the console gamers found that PC version dosen't have some multi feature that consoles have and therefore console versions are far superior to PC version and it went on something on the lines on PC being totally shit and why do we need PC's at all etc.

I don't care about my PC graphics, I just like the ability to put in mods and tweak the game as I see fit.

Also, a lot of indie titles are on the PCs.

I also like the crazy Steam sales.

Acceptable: Defining yourself as a gamer.

Bullshit: Trying to set yourself apart from others by defining yourself as a gamer.

Idiocy: Trying to get others to define you as a gamer.

Lobotomized-levels of stupid: berating others or commenting on their choice of a bloody GAMING SYSTEM, as if there was nothing more important in your life (and if there isn't, the only way you get a free pass is if you're in high school, which means you are actually a pretty grounded and well-balanced person for your age)

Seriously folks, the things you pass your free time with are not who you are.

Perhaps the reason PC zealots stand out is because they perceive a larger group of people that are "against" them than their console counterparts do. PC is considered to be one platform while there are currently three major game consoles. I'm not so sure there is an equal distribution of fans per platform though. Maybe I have this backwards, too.

The so-called console war is a silly thing.

Wooooo. You must be young. Or new. Or something. This is what's known as a "console war" (even the the PCers are defining themselves as *not* console, but whatever). It's happened since the dawn of gaming (and I'm talking dawn, like, chess vs. checkers dawn), and it goes in all directions.

For instance, I'm a PC gamer. I own a (Windows) PC (by "a" I mean "three") and a Wii (mainly for my wife). Depending on the company I'm in, I can be:

1. A PC elitist

2. a corporate/Microsoft shill

3. Everything that's wrong with gaming

4. Not a "real" gamer because I don't use a "controller" (even though I have an XBox 360 controller for Windows that I use when I want to and "controller", as word, just means "input device", and what do you think a mouse and keyboard are?)

5. Pirate (even though I never pirate, there's often an assumption that all PC gamers are pirates)

6. A guy who plays games primarily on a PC and probably shouldn't be broadly stereotyped by that one minuscule fact because it means literally nothing regarding the rest of his personality. Seriously. You can make more accurate generalizations from what I eat than the fact that I game on a PC.

Anyway, this always happens at the end of a console cycle. The PC gamers get to feel superior because of the dated console tech, but in another year or so the next round of consoles will come out (WiiU's coming out this year, but it's not a powerful piece of hardware, so...) and console gamers will feel superior because everyone's catering to them again.

"It just goes round and round. Round and round and round."

Cry Moar. I didn't see threads about PC gamers whining when consolers kept spewing "The end of PC gaming" This is the internet, btw, what did you expect?

I play both PC and various consoles, its a different experience and i've never been one to act like a fanboy or get involved in flamewars. I prefer gaming on my pc as its easier to mod games etc but i grew up in the snes/mega drive era (both of which i still have along with pretty much every console since) so consoles will always have a place in my living room (well.. as long as my gf allows it! damn non-gamer that she is) i never understood why people get so worked up over the differences rather than appreciate that they have the same hobby via different hardware

I've read through everything and can see the interesting responses. Apart from that artarded one early on.
Somebody asked me for my favourite game and its Dragon Age: Origins or the Witcher 2, I can't choose. Yes I play them both on my xbox.
Thanks for the responses though, its good to know the silent majority is actually there through personal confirmation.

There are things I disagree with, like FPS being better on PC, but on the whole it hasn't been the shitstorm I expected.

PC elitists are just the console tards who have saved up enough money to buy a semi-decent rig, and now seem to think that it makes them superior to what they were.

It doesnt make them any less of a douchebag though.

I still feel console players owe me for how horrible Modern Warfare 2 was on the pc. I'd ask that you stop accepting garbage from developers and publisher because it often trickles down to pc users, but I've seen threads complaining about the lack of matchmaking and ability to rent servers (by the way, EA is screwing you on prices, like 10X more than renting servers on pc) in BF3 so I think we're at an impasse.

6. You can still use a 360 controller on the PC if you want to. I do.
This is all I need to do and I might never look back.

HOW DO I DO THIS?

I'm pretty sure I need one of those "wired" controllers, so I can go buy one of those for starters. And I ASSUME that Windows 7 will recognize it easy peasy because they're both Microsoft products...

However, and here's the fucking rub, do games recognize it, or do I need to program all the fucking buttons? Will I be able to just run Gothic 3, or Nehrim modded Oblivion, or KOTOR2, or Baldur's Gate, etc?

I fucking hate the mouse and keyboard more than anything, and not because of control issues, but because I need to hunch the fuck over like quasi-fuck-moto to use them. I set my pc up in front of the fucking couch and now all I want to be able to do it LEAN BACK AND RELAX while I play.

Unless you own every console and a gaming quality PC, you're missing out on good games no matter what. So everyone is going to miss some games.
It still surprises me how many people don't understand this.

Jeez, I wonder WHY they bash you so very hard about having a seriously inferior, overpriced, inconvenient, technologically obsolete and locked down system.
Yeah. I mean, the answer to people not being like you or liking the same things deserves derision and anger! In fact, let's stone them! STONE ALL THOSE WHO MADE DIFFERENT PURCHASING CHOICES THAN I DID!

Yeah, but seriously, that kind of reaction is unwarranted.

also, consoles aren't hurting the industry, laziness on the dev/pub side of things and poor choices on the side of the consumer are hurting the industry. If people stopped supporting shitty ports and "dumbed down" or "inferior" consolised games, they wouldn't end up on the PC. In the end, you are the ones choosing to buy an "inferior console" experience on your PC.

But more to the point:

Ironically, now the PC Master Race is now crying that console games are killing the PC.
