Yes. No. Maybe? There's something to be said for arguments which 'Prove too much'.Torrasque said:Anything involving the treatment of men vs. women.

That phrase makes me think of an episode of the Powerpuff Girls which happened to be about double standards.Nathan Crumpler said:Epic phraseGistoftheFist said:Equal rights, equal fights.

It's because men are usually portrayed strong and dependent. The female super heroes who wear these similar and revealing outfits, however, usually possess less of said qualities and are more overtly sexualized.Faux Furry said:Yes. No. Maybe? Just to avoid a double standard of only treating issues in which women get the shaft are worth calling out, I won't reprise my entries in a similar thread(though I will link to it [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.285506-Favorite-double-standards#11260066]) though they are interconnected(suffice it to say, it is related to the whole thing with varying comfort levels with differently gendered body types).
Instead, I'll...
point to a slight variant on it since it gets bought up on this site so often. Why is it considered okay when the classic super heroes wore more clothing than even their direct female counterparts:

but when the opposite is true,it is seen as 'proof' that female super heroes aren't 'allowed' to wear as much as the males, even when every other female member of the team wears more than the one example wearing less than some of the males on the team?:

I'm a woman and I've never heard of shaving arms. Women do grow less hair on heir arms, though, my boyfriend has wolf-arms and I only have small hairs that are hard to notice. I just asked because I was wondering if I had missed something. As for TV I doubt they would be zoomed in enough for you to see hair on womens arms. Or maybe some women on TV wax everythiing so they can look more like dolphins. Who knows.Nathan Crumpler said:I have never seen a woman on t.v. with hair on her arms, unless it was played for laughs; there's a Steve Harvey Show episode that I remember in particular. It's only been recently that I have notice some women in real life with hair on their arms. I just assumed the rest shaved their arms or do not a grow noticeable amount hair in the first place.Phasmal said:Shave her arms?Nathan Crumpler said:I know a girl whom does masculine things like wears pants, doesn't shave her arms, and has sex with women, but when her male friend tries to show her MLP her first response is "What are you? Queer!"
He needs to pick his friends better.
Who shaves their arms? Did you mean legs?
Wearing pants isnt that masculine any more either.
To make a short even shorter, I was just making a joke. I consider not shaving and wearing pants masculine, but I don't think any less of a woman whom also does these things.
That video makes some good points actually, but it's pretty clear that guy starts overreacting a little when he implies men are becoming an oppressed minority. Didn't he also once have a huge rant on reddit in which he outright said this girl he disagreed with should be raped?Faux Furry said:Then, there is also this mess [http://youtu.be/4JA4EPRbWhQ].

Another example is Assassin's Creed 2. Ezio goes around Italy, killing scores of people. Usually guards, who are most likely just doing their job. Trying to feed their family, you know, normal things. Ezio murders so many without a second thought, kills all the leaders, and finally gets to the guy who manipulated everything and everyone.
And Ezio lets him go.
Pretty fucked up.
Holy cow, this is an excellent point. I have to say that, as a woman, I never looked at it that way.Rastien said:Why do men always leave the toilet seat up why can't they put it down!.

To be fair its from a south park episode based around that whole argument x), and you are right in that aspect its worse for women if the toiler seat is up. Luckily for me i grew up in a house with 3 women, 2 sisters and me Ma so i no longer need the seat up anyway after all those years hehe.Fleetfiend said:Holy cow, this is an excellent point. The one thing I have to say in defense of that is that it's a bit worse to not notice and slip and fall in the toilet than the effort it would take to move it down when you're done. Just sayin'.

Alot of men have shaped their opinions of women through porno. Make it a point to tell me that we don't get influenced by what we see because it is not real life. Pretty much everyone on the planet has been influenced by some other means that may not ring true in the world around them.Vault101 said:but this has nothing to do with porn..I'm talking about real life...they are very differentShawn MacDonald said:really want you to see how guys can see it as being shameful. All guys don't think this way(myself included) but some do. Most of the time in porno, women are being degraded. Paying them to have sex on screen, but it is not always just that. After all there are pornos where the guy tries to to see how far he can shove his member down her throat as she gags for air. Really gross ones where all the men beat off into a cup, then the women drinks about a pint of semen. Don't think it's wrong for a women to enjoy sex, but the simple act of penetration is where guys start judging them. Of course it's not hard to see why. Some woman has had sex in every hole and some guy finds out about it, he tends to put her on a lower standard if he is not dating her.
yeah the natural reaction to somone who sleeps around and apears to have little self worth is negatve <-and mabye theres a correlation there (just going by anecdotal evidence)
but then people can be into all kinds of things, if they want to indulge whatever then thats their thing..regardless of gender
Ummm, Sometimes plumbing doesn't mean sex?
