It's kinda funny to realise handhelds have surpassed some consoles in abilities. The gamecube isn't even that old yet. I can't wait for the day we can play xbox or ps3 games on our wristwatches.

Soooo they're basically adding higher res textures and a 3D effect and putting it out? I really hope not because that is the worst way re-release a game. Why wouldn't you just dig out the 64 or the virtual console version which plays on a nice big TV instead of hunching over a screen for this.

Why are they wasting time with this when there are much better Zelda games out there? I'd like to see Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages/Seasons, and Minish cap on a single card.
After all, they're the best Zelda games.

*Ahem*

This, is the best Zelda game ever made, the music, Atomsphere the fact they actually allowed people to die.

It's wonderful. *Rimshot*
THIS. Call me when they upgrade and remake Majora's Mask. OoT was great but Majora layed a thousand heaps of awesome all over it. And I never liked grown up Link either.

Just a few questions to all the Nintendo fans...

Why are they re-releasing Ocarina of Time again?
Why does Nintendo pour so many NES, SNES and N64-remakes on their handheld consoles?
Why do they still charge full price?
Why do they still remake N64 titles, when they already proved the original DS could do it, if anything, shouldn't they be on their way remaking GameCube titles?

Yeah, I know, seems like I'm starting a flame war, what with posting this stuff in a thread where obviously all the Nintendo fans come to gather... But on the level, I'd just like an answer and skip the 'rage' part.
(By the way, why does Nintendo never cut the prices of their games? I walk into a store and Twilight Princess still costs about ? 50?)

Great, except i've already played the game ten times over on the N64, Wii, and the Master Dungeons edition on the bonus disc that came with Wind Waker for the Gamecube.

1- Because Nintendo loves money.
2- To give a new generation of gamers a chance to play these classic games, and because they love money.
3- See answer 1.
4- Gamecube games can be played on their current main console, the Wii, making remakes a moot point.

Despite how it may look with my avatar, I'm not a huge Nintendo fan, but Majoras Mask does just happen to be one of my favourite games. I'd like to see Nintendo do something different too, but familiarity sells and as long as they're making money off the same old stuff, they'll keep making and releasing the same old stuff.

1 - 3) Fair enough. But since the game also had a Gamecube re-release and a Virtual Console re-release, I think the new generation already has some options.

Well, except if they really want to go handheld, I suppose... But then, I never understood why they didn't take the PS3/PSP route with the Wii/DS. If you buy a PSOne classic, you can copy it to both your PSP and your PS3. I doubt size would be a problem, since PSOne games can range up to 700 MB for each disc, but N64 only ranges from 4 to 64 MB.

4) Don't know why they should care. Sony also re-releases PSOne titles on a console that can still play the original versions (well, could, ever since Sony decided to be an asshole about it and take that function away - for PS2-games at least, I'd have to double check PSOne-games). And personally, I've got a Wii myself, but the amount a decent Wii-titles I can bring myself to like, aren't all that numerous... So I figure, why not hunt down the better Gamecube titles and take the backwards compatibility for everything it's worth. However, I've had nothing but trouble trying to find said titles - I thought about checking out Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaitos, maybe even see what the whole 'Wind Waker' shtick is about, but no such luck.

By the way, you're not the first person to tell me Majora's Mask is better than Ocarina, despite what reviews say (something about being quite intense story wise and having a never before used mechanic with three days being repeated over and over)?

As much as this is a must buy title for me, I'm still not buying a 3DS until the handheld's built-in DRM "features," spyware and always-on wi fi get thoroughly hacked out. And then I will buy one used, because I'm not seeing Nintendo rewarded for that kind of shit.

Yes. It's Ocarina of Time after being cornered in an alley and beaten half to death by "Groundhog Day" and "Alice in Wonderland".

I personally haven't played any Zelda games so I don't know.. but seriously, how is that cute? Previous incarnations must have been horrific if this one is in fact comparatively cute.

As a fan of Professor Layton, World of Goo, and Plants vs. Zombies, I believe charm can sell a game. And the charm definitely sold this game to me. Gotta get my money ready for June 19th, then...

Looks like Zidane in a few of those screens.

Anyway, I'm definitely getting a 3DS once this, Star Fox, and the new Paper Mario are out, and hopefully by then the price will have dropped a good amount.
>mfw "price drop"

Yeah, I've got a feeling that the 3DS will be $250 for a long time. And I point to the fact that Super Mario Galaxy 1 is still $40 used at GameStop. Nintendo won't drop the price until well after Christmas.

I honestly think the 3DS is worth the $250 I paid for it, but if I were you I'd at least wait until the internet browser update comes out and that's scheduled for late May.
Yeah... I probably won't get mine until early June if not later. Mainly because I want to see what kind of games come out on it and see if there is any refurb discounts by then.

Wow this game looks fantastic. Between this, Star Fox and the possibility of a Final Fantasy VI remake... this might just be my first handheld since the Game Boy Color.
