"Hi, how's it going/how ya doing," etc... when it's a stranger you're just acknowledging.
Like, that's a bit personal, can't we just leave it at g'day or howdy?
They always get it in immediately, like, no delay at all. I wonder if that means they won?
And do they really want me to answer that, do they really want to know? And do I also have to enquire as to their current mental state, or will me just lying and saying 'good thanks' satisfy the expected social requirements?

And it's invariably followed up by "that's the way".
Lol, read this and immediately thought of this. When pleasantries are off-putting, we've failed as a species.

Citation, please. Never knew chicken to be a term of endearment.
It's probably something regional? Like, I'd never heard "sausage" as a term of endearment, but it's apparently fairly common in the UK? As I've heard it exclusively from people from there on multiple occasions.

Nah, it's just an indication that you're an asshole if you act like those 2. Not a failure of the species, just you as an individual to develop empathy :p

Yeah, it's the sort of thing my nan might have called people, and she was a northerner at heart, though actually 100% a southerner (my grandad was a Geordie though).

It's interesting how you can read and understand all the words in a sentence, but miss out entirely on all context imbedded within, that is vital to comprehending the thing you just read. :D

Most nerd lingo, I guess.

Recently I'm aware of 'simp' being a thing. And I hate it purely on the basis that it's the new hip nerd term for something.

But then I'm old and I prefer my "normal" words. Though I remember back in high school when 'emo' became term and I immediately disliked that, too.

What's funny is that your clarification only raises more questions for a state-side troglodyte like myself. The only "Geordie" I know of is La Forge, and I'm assuming your grandfather didn't have a augmentation to grant him trans-spectral sight despite his innate blindness...

I think chicken is only used in that way the North East of England. Probably even more specific than that. I've only heard people from South Tyneside use it. I'd bet that if you watched a few Sarah Millican interviews she'd eventually call somebody chicken.

I live in North Tyneside, but spent about ten years on the other side of the river too.

I think my issue is the amount of implied condemnation in a lot of the words used in new phrases. Like cuck, and thot and simp, etc. They're all of a similar theme, of basically sex/kink shaming people.

Like I find cuck the funniest, because of the fact that likely the majority of people who use that word, watch porn. Which is actually worse than cucking in my opinion. I mean, a cuck is at least IN THE ROOM most of the time with the people fucking, and thus might get some secondary action from the parties involved. But you? At home with your hand? You're just getting off watching other people (not you) having sex. So, pot/kettle, black and all that.

Geordies are from the Newcastle area. Google Jimmy Nail. Sting is the most famous Geordie I can think of, though he doesn't sound like one AFAIK. And no, he (my grandad, not Sting) was a bricklayer.

I don't think the term 'cuck' is used much as kink shaming though. It's mainly just used to call a guy's masculinity into question, which is equally stupid ontop of being toxic. This is probably why that particular crowd, the one that sees their idea of masculinity as being currently under attack, tends to use it so much.

Well maybe it's got multiple uses, but the definition of cuck I've always seen used, context wise anyway, is referring to a guy who is letting some other guy have sex with a woman, usually implied to be their girlfriend/wife, and that they find that sexually arousing. And that the fact that they do this, makes them less of a man. Because no man would let someone else fuck their woman. Thus to me, it's still kink shaming. Maybe the guy is bi, or maybe he's just an extreme exhibitionist. Or maybe they all fuck each other silly after the other guy gets first dibs, I dunno. Don't really care, it's their sex life, and I'm not involved, so I'm not going to insult/shame this dude for liking it.

I've never seen it used outside of implied sexual connotations , usually questioning the guy's masculinity, as you say, but questioning specifically because of the sexual activities they are into.

I know that this is the "proper" context to use the term 'cuckold', but I didn't really see a rise in its usage till all those alt-right/anti-SJW youtube channels started appearing. Typically putting the term in the thumbnail whenever they talked about someone who apparently bended to the will of the SJW's. When The Last of Us 2 got spoiled/released it was thrown around a lot too in regard to Neil Druckmann, cuz you know, he pandered to the LGBTQ community and is into buff chicks, and that's not a real man, right?

Never saw that use personally, but then I don't follow alt-right news stuff, and actively avoid it, and I follow little to no gaming news as well.

Me neither, the alt-right stuff anyway, but you know how it is... You click the wrong video and youtube's like 'oh you like this stuff, well here's even more' and proceeds to flood the home page with that shit.

Oh yeah, ok let me clarify. Yes, I've seen thumbnails here and there that probably used that term, but seeing as it's clearly being used as a derogatory comment, and who is using it, I doubt they AREN'T implying the person who is the "cuck" is less sexually...I dunno...correct? Whatever their brains seem to think is the metric for superior or whatever. I mean like people used to call me ****** (a bundle of sticks since the censor system blocked it) all the time in school, and while they were using it mostly to just insult me, it was always a criticism based on sexuality, or their presumption about mine that is. To me, those who use cuck seem to be the same. Sure they're using it as a general insult, but the entire context of the word (along with thot) is tied to the sexuality of the person being insulted. It might be in the background, but it's there.

But anyway, not really in the mood to further analyze shit words used by shit people to make themselves feel superior to others, so I'll just leave it at "I find all those words to be problematic from the ground up" :D
