Like Lucas himself, LucasArts is already for me a Fallen Creator. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/DarthWiki/FallenCreator]
So another good developer bites the dust.

o hai again, doing the broad sweeping generalizations thing again I see, good luck with that, im sure the big Corporation will thank you for White Knighting them.Grey Day for Elcia said:Hear that? It's the flavor of the month train pulling up, ready to take half this thread to the "We hate LucasArts" stop. Lots of return passengers from the EA stop, I see.
I love how this site works.
I couldn't care less about "the big corporations." You don't have to like something to point out how stupid people are for blindly hating it.boag said:o hai again, doing the broad sweeping generalizations thing again I see, good luck with that, im sure the big Corporation will thank you for White Knighting them.Grey Day for Elcia said:Hear that? That part made me freeze for a minute before I read the rest.Greg Tito said:The plans for Battlefront 3 were radical, pardon the pun, and the development cost a lot of money. Somewhere along the line, LucasArts decided they couldn't afford to make the game former studio head Jim Ward wanted to make. But they couldn't just cancel the game because of the contract in place, so instead they just tortured Doak and Free Radical until their spirits broke.

Sorry my friend.. I wanted it too..
Yes, Jim Ward was a complete ass. For me Lucasarts doesn't exist since Escape from Monkey Island. Then it existed a little while when they released the special editions.Dexter111 said:I'm going to have to take issue with that...Greg Tito said:Then there was a new guy called Darrell Rodriguez, who had been brought in to do a job and it was more to do with cost control than making any games. And the games that we were making for them were costly."
Jim Ward was decisively involved in cancelling Full Throttle: Payback/Hell on Wheels and Sam&Max: Freelance Police.
In his very short months with LucasArts, Rodriguez actually made a deal with TellTale Games to make the Monkey Island Episodes and he also greenlighted the Money Island 1+2: Special Editions and brought Loom, The Dig and Indiana Jones to Steam (he also greenlighted Lucidity - hey you can't get all of them right). In fact he brought a lot of the LucasArts Lineup to Steam during that time (April 2008 - May 2010): http://store.steampowered.com/search/?sort_by=Released&sort_order=ASC&term=lucasarts
Don't you DARE badmouth him...
After he was replaced all was lost though...

Monkeys are expensive apparently.. and you know timesplitters and their monkey based shenanigans.Mike Laserbeam said:No. NO. NO!!!edgecult said:Just on the timsplitters note...wgar said:Timesplitters is still being released though.

Why?! Why can't they just let it be made?!
We want it! I want it!!!
P.s. Go fuck yourselves new Lucasarts.
I want to agree with you, but I think you're wrong. It's going to much worse. Games like Starwars Kinect will become the norm as that is what non-gamers will buy, and there are a hell of a lot more non-gamers than gamers out there. The companies that exploit that demographic are going to make the most money, and gamers like us who love a good interactive experience are going to be left out in the cold.Ragsnstitches said:EA, Activision, Lucasarts, Microsoft, Sony... they will be the death of the industry as we know it. They lack the foresight and ingenuity to make it out of the next decade. Mark my words, they will fall and they will fall hard.
Well I was all for burning down the studio, but your idea works too.dessertmonkeyjk said:If only we could make a giant LucasArts guy with a sad face and put it on the studio's front lot... a little too drastic perhaps?
